Much of its charm lies in the fact that this busy commercial harbor is set in the midst of a huge entertainment venue with pubs, restaurants, specialty shops, craft markets, theaters and movies. The V&A Waterfront is divided up into five shopping districts: Victoria Wharf, the Watershed, The Alfred Mall and Pierhead, The Clock Tower, and Breakwater Point. With more than 450 stores, you’ll find everything from local designers to big international brands. For crafts and local talent, make sure you pop into the Watershed, and, if it’s art or jewelry you’re after, head over to The Alfred Mall and Pierhea. The Transvaal Museum is South Africa's leading natural history museum. It provides a memorable experience for the whole family and is open 7 days a week.
Transvaal Museum Mammal Hall in Pretoria The Transvaal Museum was founded in 1892. The museum changed locations a number of times as its collection grew. By 1925 the museum moved to its current location, a beautiful sandstone building on Paul Kruger Street. The entrance of this imposing building is decorated with the skeletons of dinosaurs and even a whale.
Some of the collection of the museum, which remained behind in its former location in Boom Street, became known as the National Cultural History Museum in 1964.
The museum currently houses a vast taxidermy collection as well as a number of fossils.
There are four exhibition halls:
Genesis of Life I and II provides a journey through the development of the animal kingdom, from single-celled organisms, right through the human beings. The Genesis of Life II hall is also known as the Mammal Hall.
The Austin Roberts Bird Hall holds a collection of Southern African birds, arranged according to their number in the Roberts Bird Guide. General information on migration, feeding and flight of birds can also be seen in this very well arranged hall.

Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, Cape Town
The Victoria & Alfred (V&A) Waterfront in Cape Town, South Africa is situated on the Atlantic shore, Table Bay Harbour, the City of Cape Town and Table Mountain.
Prince Alfred, the second son of Queen Victoria, visited the Cape Colony harbour in 1860 as a sixteen-year-old Royal Navy Midshipman on HMS Euryalus. He made a big splash with the Colonials on this first-ever visit by a member of the Royal Family. The first basin of the new Navy Yard was named after him and the second after his mother.
The complex houses over 450 retail outlets, including fashion, homeware and curious, to jewellery, leather goods and audio-visual equipment. The V&A Waterfront is also still a working harbour, and fishing boats bring in fresh fish, and larger container ships are towed in by tugboats.
Features in the waterfront:
-Chavonnes Battery
-Nelson Mandela Gateway to Robben Island
-Nobel Square
-Two Oceans Aquarium
-Breakwater Lodge (University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business)
-Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa
