Lyrics:
We’re the United States of America
We’re 50 strong and proud
Heres the names of all our states
And their capitals sang loud
My name is Alabama
My capital’s Montgomery
Welcome to Alaska
Juneau’s a great place to see
I am Arizona
My capital is Phoenix
My names Arkansas
My Little Rock is so scenic
I’m California dude
Sacramento’s my capital
Come to Colorado
Visit Denver if you go
I’m Connecticut
My capital is Hartford
Welcome to Delaware
Visit Dover if your board
My names Florida
Tallahassee the place to be
I am Georgia (GA)
Atlanta’s a great city
Aloha I'm Hawaii
Honolulu’s my capital
Come to Idaho
Visit Boise when you go
We’re the United States of America
We’re 50 strong and proud
If you want to learn about us
Then Help and sing out loud
Welcome to Illinois
Springfield is the place to see
If you visit Indiana
Indianapolis is in me
I am Iowa
Des Moines my capital
And if you visit Kansas
Topeka has it all
Welcome to Kentucky
Frankfort is a nice city
Down here in Louisiana
Baton Rouge is really pretty
Up here in Maine
Augusta is really nice
Here in Maryland
Annapolis is worth its price
Visit Massachusetts
Boston’s our little bean
Up here in Michigan
Lansing is worth a see
Hey it’s Minnesota
Saint Pauls our capital
But down in Mississippi
Jackson is the place to roll
We’re the United States of America
We’re 50 strong and proud
If you want to learn about us
Then Help and sing out loud
Hi there I’m Missouri
Jefferson City’s really cool
But up here in Montana
Helena really rules
Midway in Nebraska
You should stop at Lincoln City
In Nevada
Carson City is the one we think is pretty
New Hampshire welcomes you
Visit Concord any time
If you stop by New Jersey
Trenton is quite a find
I am New Mexico
My capitols Santa Fe
New York’s the Empire state
Albany’s where you could stay
Here in North Carolina
You could see Raleigh any time
My name is North Dakota
Bismarck is so fine
Ohio is my name
and Columbus is all mine
I am Oklahoma
Oklahoma City you unwind
We’re the United States of America
We’re 50 strong and proud
If you want to learn about us
Then Help and sing out loud
In the great state of Oregon
In Salem, you can trust
Pennsylvania is my name
and Harrisburg is a must
When you're in Rhode Island
Providence is where you should go
I am South Carolina
Columbia is what I know
Up here in South Dakota
Pierre is a heck of a town
When you're in Tennessee
Nashville won’t make you frown
Texas is my name
Austin’s known for its great music
Utah’s really great
Salt Lake City is amusing
Up here in Vermont
Montpelier has great charm
Virginia is the state
That has Richmond on its arm
I’m Washington
Olympia’s my capital
In West Virginia
Charleston will make your belly full
Wisconsin is the cheese
And Madison’s really nice
Wyoming has Cheyenne
Let's sing this chorus twice
We’re the United States of America
We’re 50 strong and proud
If you want to learn about us
Then Help and sing out loud
We’re the United States of America
We’re 50 strong and proud
If you want to learn about us
Then Help and sing out loud
RiverFest 2013 Press Conference
The City of San Angelo celebrates the 100th anniversary of Santa Fe Park and the recently completed improvements to the Concho River downtown at the first River Fest on Oct. 18-19, a two-day event that will feature concerts, a carnival and a color run.
Tickets are on sale now for the Saturday night concert, headlined by Little Texas and Casey James, at the RiverStage. Little Texas is best known for its hit singles My Love and God Blessed Texas. The bluesy country-rocker James placed third on the ninth season of American Idol in 2010. He released his self-titled debut album last year.
All tickets to the Oct. 19 concert are general admission. Advance tickets cost $21.50 for adults and $11.50 for children ages 2-12. Children younger than 2 are admitted for free. Ticket prices increase the week of the show to $31.50 for adults and $16.50 for children ages 2-12.
Tickets can be purchased at cosatx.us (Online Services Buy Tickets Online) or at the McNease Convention Center, 500 Rio Concho Drive; Blair's Western Wear, 4230 Sherwood Way; Pinkie's Liquor Store, 1415 S. Bryant Blvd.; Barbed Wire and Roses in Sunset Mall, 4001 Sunset Drive; and the Goodfellow Air Force Base Event Center Information, Tickets & Tours Office. Tickets may also be purchased by calling (325) 658-6464 between 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
Registration also continues for the Color Up fun run, a non-competitive run in which the participants will be bombarded with a rainbow of colored corn starch throughout the 5K course. Registration is $50 at colorup5K.com.
River Fest also marks the return of a carnival at Neff's Park on the north side of the Concho River across from the RiverStage.
We have reason to celebrate, Parks and Recreation Director Carl White said. Santa Fe Park has for a century now served as San Angelo's playground, a place where families come to picnic, play golf, stroll along the river, and enjoy nature and one another's company. And the river improvements are sparking new vitality and excitement along San Angelo's greatest natural resource. We want to spend River Fest not only showing off all the new features, but thanking voters for approving them.
River Fest begins on Friday, Oct. 18. The carnival will fire up its rides, games and food booths at 4 p.m. with the fun continuing until 11 p.m. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., a new selection of statues will be unveiled at Sunken Garden Park during the 2nd annual Salmon Sculpture Competition.
The day's festivities culminate with a free concert at the RiverStage from 7 p.m. until 1 a.m. by Tejano bands; local favorites The Red Tape and T. Gozney Thornton's The Old Hat Band; and the legendary Lone Star State band the Texas Tornados, featuring Augie Meyers and Flaco Jimenez. The Tornados play a fusion of rock, country and Mexican music, and are best known for their hits (Hey Baby) Que Paso and Is Anybody Goin' to San Antone.
A packed lineup on Saturday, Oct. 19, includes:
• 9 a.m.-11 a.m. -- Color Up fun run. Begins at the Fort Concho parade grounds, finishes at El Paseo de Santa Angela pavilions.
• 9 a.m.-noon -- A four-player scramble golf tournament, Santa Fe Golf Course.
• 10 a.m.-4 p.m. -- The annual Eco Fair hosted by the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts along El Paseo.
• 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. -- Games, activities, music and concessions for children and families, Kids' Kingdom park.

• 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. -- Paddle boats on the river between Irving and Oakes streets.
• 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. -- Bocce ball and chess, games court in The Bosque.
• 1 p.m.-5 p.m. -- Skate demonstrations at the downtown skate park and Water Lily Collection tours at Civic League Park.

Student Arrested In Fatal Shooting Of Police Officer At Texas College
A 19-year-old student has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a police officer at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, officials said on Monday night.
The university was on lockdown on Monday night.
Texas Tech police went to check on the welfare of the student, Hollis Daniels, earlier on Monday and after allegedly discovering drugs officers took him to the school’s police station, the university said in a statement.
Daniels, reportedly a freshman from Seguin near San Antonio, pulled a gun, shot an officer in the head and then fled on foot before being caught and arrested later, officials said. The officer died.
Daniels was a 19-year-old student in his first year at college, the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reported.
“First and foremost, our hearts go out to the family of the police officer killed at Texas Tech University,” Texas Governor Greg Abbott said in a statement.
Lubbock, home to more than 240,000 people, is about 300 miles (483 km) west of Dallas.
