GoPro Ski: Backcountry Skiing in Chile - The Magic of the Super C
Join GoPro athlete Chris Davenport as he takes us to one of the best lines in the world. Nestled in the Chilean Andes is Ski Portillo, an old mining town turned world-renowned ski resort home to some of South America’s best terrain. Just outside the ski area boundary is a couloir called the Super C. It’s a huge climb from the ski area, but it all pays off with a 1,706-meter (5,600 ft.) descent.
Many film crews use helicopters to get to lines like the Super C, due to heavy camera gear. But it’s a rite of passage to earn your turns on the Super C and in fact, taking a helicopter isn’t an option. By shooting 100 percent on GoPro, our media team was the first professional production team to climb and document the Super C.

VALLE NEVADO - SANTIAGO, CHILE. Snowboarding in a Best Ski Resort in South America, Andes Mountains
Valle Nevado is ranked as the best Ski Resort in South America. In Valle Nevado you will get the best snowboarding or skiing in the region. The Ski Resort is located on the El Plomo foothills in the Andes Mountains, at 46 km to the east of Santiago, the capital of Chile. The construction of the site began in 1987 and was completed the following year. This French-Chilean project was inspired by similar European resorts, especially Les Arcs in France. In 2001 the resort opened the first detachable chairlift in the region, gaining a significant advantage on its competitors. One of the biggest among these projects is the construction of two buildings named Valle de los Condores. Valle Nevado Ski Resort opened the first mountain cable car in Chile in 2013. When the season ends in Europe and North America, you can enjoy some summer snowboarding or skiing in Chile. The season usually lasts from June to September.

In this video we're snowboarding for the first time in Chile! Chile has been a snowboard destination that I've wanted to check out for years. The resort we're snowboarding at is Nevados de Chillan, which is resort five hours south of Santiago. After this first day of snowboarding in Chile my expectation were definitely exceeded. Farellones is a village and ski resort located 36 km from Santiago, Chile. It was founded during the 1930s, nestled in a small valley in the Andes mountains close to other ski areas such as Valle Nevado, La Parva and El Colorado.

The Chilean capital of Santiago has been hit by the worst snowfall in 10 years, leaving more than a quarter of a million people without power, local officials say. At least one person has died and several others have been injured. James Valles reports. (BNO News)

We had the incredible opportunity to hike up to Glaciar El Morado in Cajon Del Maipo, Chile. The hike took about 6 hours total and we travelled about 25km through the mountains. The views were incredible and were worth every single step.

Valle Nevado ski resort has some of the highest quality snow in Chile, because of its location at 3 thousand meters of height.
This ski resort is created with the inspiration of French ski resorts and modern buildings, hotels and equipments, such as Andes Express ski lift, the most advanced of southern hemisphere. Valle Nevado is also close to other ski resorts like La Parva and El Colorado so the passengers can visit them and participate in mountain excursions in winter and summer.
This ski resort offers the biggest skiable surface of South America,
Valle Nevado, the largest ski center in South America, is located 46 kilometers east of Santiago, Chile. It has excellent quality of snow because of its height and orientation and a privileged climate, with 80% of clear days in the season.
