Crossing the Andes - Argentina to Chile
A trip across the Andes, beginning in the vineyards surrounding from Mendoza, Argentina, and ending in the Central Valley of Chile. The trip takes you one of the most scenic mountain passes on the planet, the Paso Internacional Los Libertadores (Cristo Redentor), which passes by the highest peak in the Western Hemisphere, Mt. Aconcagua (el. 22,841 feet). Elevation at the summit of the pass (marking the border btwn Chile and Argentina) is 10,417 feet.
CHILE - Santiago. Valparaiso. Valle Nevado. Vina Del Mar. DJI Phantom 4 Drone Aerial Footage 4k.
In this video about Chile you can see the central part of Chile which includes the capital of Chile, Santiago, second largest city Valparaiso, Valle Nevado Ski Resort in Chilean Andes, smaller beach towns Vina Del Mar and Concon where you can see thousands of seals.
Tourism in Chile has experienced sustained growth over the last few decades. Most of tourists come from other countries in the American continent, mainly Argentina; followed by a growing number from the United States, Europe, and Brazil with a growing number of Asians from South Korea and China. The main attractions for tourists are places of natural beauty situated in the extreme zones of the country: San Pedro de Atacama, in the north, is very popular with foreign tourists who arrive to admire the Incaic architecture, the altiplano lakes, and the Valley of the Moon. Throughout the central Andes there are many ski resorts of international repute, including Portillo, Valle Nevado and Termas de Chillán. The main tourist sites in the south are national parks (the most popular is Conguillío National Park in the Araucanía) and the coastal area around Tirúa and Cañete with the Isla Mocha and the Nahuelbuta National Park, Chiloé Archipelago and Patagonia, which includes Laguna San Rafael National Park, with its many glaciers, and the Torres del Paine National Park. The central port city of Valparaíso, which is World Heritage with its unique architecture, is also popular. Finally, Easter Island in the Pacific Ocean is one of the main Chilean tourist destinations. For locals, tourism is concentrated mostly in the summer and mainly in the coastal beach towns. Arica, Iquique, Antofagasta, La Serena and Coquimbo are the main summer centers in the north, and Pucón on the shores of Lake Villarrica is the main center in the south. Because of its proximity to Santiago, the coast of the Valparaíso Region, with its many beach resorts, receives the largest number of tourists. Viña del Mar, Valparaíso's northern affluent neighbor, is popular because of its beaches, casino, and its annual song festival, the most important musical event in Latin America. Pichilemu in the O'Higgins Region is widely known as South America's best surfing spot. Chile is home to the world renowned Patagonian Trail that resides on the border between Argentina and Chile.

Chorrillana: Typical Chilean Snack in Santiago, Chile
One of the classic Chilean snack food dishes worth trying when visiting Santiago is something called Chorrillana. This dish, which is worth sharing with a friend of two, is basically a mountain of french fries with sliced beef, fried egg and fried onion on top. We've now had it enough times to realize no two restaurants make it the same. We've seen fried egg versus scrambled egg, tenderloin versus sliced sausage and several different ways of preparing the onion. At the restaurant we filmed this video (Galindo) they prepared it with tenderloin, scrambled egg and caramelized onions. We've also heard of chorizo, tomatoes and even bananas being thrown on top of the fries! It's the kind of dish, much like poutine in Canada, where you can play around with it to suit any kind of taste. Regardless, be sure to bring your appetite (and possibly a friend or two) because portions tend to be huge and we struggled to finish ours. You can pick one up in a typical Chilean restaurant or Chilean pub.

Chorrillana: Typical Chilean Snack in Santiago, Chile Travel Video:
So it is time for a little afternoon snack in Santiago. Today we're at a restaurant called Galindo and we're going to be trying a dish that is called Chorrillana. And this is a lot like a Canadian poutine. Now if you're not too familiar with Canadian poutine that is kind of like when you get some French Fries with gravy and cheese and other ingredients over top. So this is going to be similar but with a Chilean twist so we're waiting for the food to arrive now.
Well as you can see the food has arrived and the funny part is this is listed as an appetizer or a starter for one person. If you have a look at that, that is enough to feed two grown people. I think Sam and I are going to struggle with this. It is our main. It is our main. Definitely.
Alright Sam, so it is time to give us the tour of the plate. Yes, so before I tuck into this tasty little treat I'm going to explain what we've got here. So we have tenderloin, onion and scrambled egg on top of those french fries. It is actually a little bit different from the first time we tried Chorrillana because they put a fried egg on top and also sausage. Yes. But this has a lot more meat. This is a very generous portion.
So dig right in hungry boy. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Yeah. Enjoying that meat? Oh, yeah. Wow, those are like really tasty onions. You can tell they've been marinated in something. I think they're caramelized. Yeah, caramelized onions I think. And the french fries are a golden perfection. It is just going to be an awesome filling carb loaded delicious little treat.
So we've had this dish a few times since we've arrived in Santiago and no two Chorrillanas are the same. This one is different, I mean it has no sausage or hot dogs and that was our first experience trying Chorrillanas. And also this one has scrambled eggs instead of fried egg on top. So it is kind of nice that you can always find a bit of variety when you go to a different restaurant. And I think I am ready for my first bite. Got a little bit of everything in there.
Mmmm.
Wow. That meat is tender isn't it? It is tender. It is tenderloin, so it should be tender. It should be tender. Wow. That is nice. In a way it is kind of nice that they only have the beef and there is no sausage because like this is a really good cut of meat. It is very juicy so the flavors really come through. You don't have too many competing tastes. Yeah, you don't need a whole lot of ingredients with this dish. Not when it is done well.
Alright, but now it is time for the big question. Which do you prefer - Canadian poutine or Chilean Chorrillana?
Well, this is really good but you know what nothing compares to Canadian poutine. That is like in a league of its own. But this is really tasty. And if you want come and try it at this restaurant it is going to be just under 8000 Chilean Pesos which currently is about 10 US dollars. So it is not bad value. Bring a friend or two to help you out. That is my tip.
This is part of our Travel in Chile series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Chilean culture, Chilean arts, Chilean foods, Chilean religion, Chilean cuisine and Chilean people.

VALLE NEVADO - SANTIAGO, CHILE. Snowboarding in a Best Ski Resort in South America, Andes Mountains
Valle Nevado is ranked as the best Ski Resort in South America. In Valle Nevado you will get the best snowboarding or skiing in the region. The Ski Resort is located on the El Plomo foothills in the Andes Mountains, at 46 km to the east of Santiago, the capital of Chile. The construction of the site began in 1987 and was completed the following year. This French-Chilean project was inspired by similar European resorts, especially Les Arcs in France. In 2001 the resort opened the first detachable chairlift in the region, gaining a significant advantage on its competitors. One of the biggest among these projects is the construction of two buildings named Valle de los Condores. Valle Nevado Ski Resort opened the first mountain cable car in Chile in 2013. When the season ends in Europe and North America, you can enjoy some summer snowboarding or skiing in Chile. The season usually lasts from June to September.

HUMILIATED BY CHILEAN STREET PERFORMER! - Plaza de Armas, Santiago, Chile
So much fun today visiting Plaza de Armas here in central Santiago, Chile. Seeing the Metropolitan Cathedral (Catedral Metropolitana de Santiago), Central Post Office Building (Edificio del Correo Central) and Chilean National History Museum (Palacio de la Real Audiencia de Santiago). Also getting pulled into the center of a comedic street performance act and getting yelled at in Español was a hilarious experience. Overall it was an amazing day exploring here in Santiago. I love it!

This is Santiago, Chile ???????? Safe? Beautiful? Must Visit? What to do in the city. Travel Guide
We spent a full day checking out some of major sights to try to find the best things to in Santiago de Chile.
We started out the day with a run and headed to the beautiful Parque Bicentario where we saw some beautiful views of the city and mountains. We ran around the park for awhile to see what it had to offer and came across some flamingos.
We picked up the video later in the day in the centre of town in the Plaza de Armas, which is the main square in Santiago. From here we picked up our Hop on Hop off tickets from Turistik Chile and immediate hopped on a bus!
To book your Santiago Hop on Hop off ticket visit here (we had the “plus” ticket):
The Hop on Hop off bus took us throughout a large part of the city where we got to see many of the important sites and also listen to an audio guide.
We got off at the tallest building in Latin America called the Costanera Centre (Gran Torre). Here we bought tickets to the observation deck called Sky Costanera. The observatory is this highest in Latin America and offers amazing views of the city and Andes Mountains.
After this we walked to the cable car to make our way up Cerro San Cristobal, a park on a hill in the middle of the city. The tickets to the cable car were included in our Hop on Hop off ticket and also included the funicular down the hill.
Up at the top of Cerro San Cristobal you’ll find beautiful views of the city. You’ll also find a church as well as a statue of the Virgin Mary which you can see from the ground in most of the city.
ABOUT SANTIAGO
Santiago, Chile’s capital and largest city, sits in a valley surrounded by the snow-capped Andes and the Chilean Coast Range. Plaza de Armas, the grand heart of the city’s old colonial core, is home to 2 neoclassical landmarks: the 1808 Palacio de la Real Audiencia, housing the National History Museum, and the 18th-century Metropolitan Cathedral. La Chascona is the home-turned-museum of poet Pablo Neruda.
ABOUT CHILE
Chile is a long, narrow country stretching along South America's western edge, with more than 6,000km of Pacific Ocean coastline. Santiago, its capital, sits in a valley surrounded by the Andes and Chilean Coast Range mountains. The city's palm-lined Plaza de Armas contains the neoclassical cathedral and the National History Museum. The massive Parque Metropolitano offers swimming pools, a botanical garden and zoo.
