VIGNO - Vignadores de Carignan, the first true Chilean appellation is set to be a reality. The name is derived from vino, the Spanish word for wine, combined with the G from Carignan. VIGNO represents old-vine Carignan wines from the Maule Valley, located about three hours south of Santiago. Signifying an important innovation in the Chilean wine trade, VIGNO is a unique collective collaboration, combining both small and large Maule producers under a unified market vision, and thus raising the bar for the participating wineries. chilean wine tourism - chapter 0 - Square 1
Social movement in Chile October 2019
Hello. My name is Francisco and this is the Chilean Wine Tourism Cannel.
In this channel we´ll talking mostly about wines. I really love the topic of wines and especially in Chile. We´ll be talking why Chile is a special place to Wine Lovers. We have very fantastic wines with good prices, and beautiful landscapes. We have the range of mountains called The Andes and the coastal range of mountains which we called “La Cordillera de La Costa” and in the middle the valleys, where we have the vineyards. Chile is a really fantastic place for Wine Lovers.
Now, you must be wondering… why we have this awful background here (back wall). It has a reason… Today being October 26° of 2019, we are struggling; we are dealing with the most important social demanding movement against the government since 1988; when at that time (1988) we forced to break the dictatorship. So now, we are in a similar situation. That is why I decided to launch this channel today because; it is like we went back to the square 1. So it is really a sad point… but it has a big, a huge hope for Chile. So I hope to Welcome you back soon to Chile with great news, fantastic places to visit, wine tourism. I really hope that in 2020 we will welcome you back with an improved Chile, better than it is, which is beautiful.
So that is all for now. In our next video, we´ll talk more about wines, but I just wanted to mention the historic moment we are living. See you soon.

The Wine Down - Learn About Chilean Wines With Alex Guarachi of Guarachi Family Wines
EPISODE SYNOPSIS:
Today we speak with one of the importing pioneers of the the wine world, Alex Guarachi. Up to 20 years ago, Chilean wines were largely unheard of in the states, until the exporting business headed by Guarachi, TGIC Importers, began expanding the market for South American brands in America.
Though Chile is now widely recognized as one of the greatest wine producers in the world, the road to get here has been full of hard work for Alex, and he shares some of his history with us. In addition to detailing the growing global market for Chilean wine, Alex shares about his own family imprint, Guarachi Family Wines. We also discuss other trends, upstarts, and unsung heroes in the wine world with an eye on the future and glass full of lovely wine.
GUEST BIO:
Alex Guarachi hails from Santiago, Chile. One of eight children, wine, some of the best from his homeland, was a staple on the dinner table. When Alex made the pilgrimage from Chile to the U.S., those wines were nowhere to be found. The entrepreneur vowed to change that and TGIC, Thank God It's Chilean, was born.
America had not been formally introduced to Chilean wines, and Alex seized the opportunity of this virtually untapped market. In 1985, through resources of his own, he managed to purchase his first container of Chilean wine. TGIC Importers, Inc. was officially open for business. What began as a one-man show operating out of Alex's dimly lit garage has grown into a multi-million dollar company boasting a portfolio of some of the finest wines from not only Chile, but also Argentina, Australia, New Zealand, Spain and California.
TGIC celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2010. To commemorate this milestone, Alex introduced Guarachi Family Wines and is enjoying the fruits of this labor. With his friend, Paul Hobbs, as the winemaker, Guarachi Family Wines' Pinot Noir has been awarded 94 points by Wine Spectator. The revered publication gave the Cabernet Sauvignon 92 points. Though Alex is from Chile, he sports an immense passion for California wines, which is why his freshman effort springs from vineyards in Napa and Sonoma counties.

Chile
Chile's long, slender silhouette stretches some 4269 kilometers/2,653 miles from the tropics of the north down into Patagonia and the icy fingertip of the continent.
The country encompasses such diversity of geology and terrains that it holds a special appeal for nature lovers and adventurers. Immense ice fields and glaciers combine with the surreal granite spires of Torres Del Paine in Patagonia. The driest spot on earth, the Atacama Desert is home to fantastic moon-like topography, geysers, sculpted dunes and flamingo lagoons. The Altiplano is freckled with lakes, marshes, salt flats, geysers, and 6,096-meter/20,000-foot volcanoes. The dazzling lakes and snowcapped volcanoes of the Lake District; and the hot springs, glaciers and temperate forests of the Carretera Austral invite exploration. The Magellan Strait opens to the wildlife lands of Tierra del Fuego and Cape Horn. Some 3,701 kilometers/2,300 miles offshore await the mysteries of the giant stone heads, moais, of Easter Island. In a beautiful valley surrounded by snowy Andean peaks, sophisticated Santiago is a wonderful base for exploring the country's famous wine estates. Chile welcomes the connoisseur -- be that of wines or mountaintops.
