The Great Wall of China: Hiking & Camping!
The two days we spent exploring remote portions of The Great Wall were some of the most awe-inspiring, challenging and beautiful days of our 21 days in China! We started day one on the Jiankou portion of the wall and then to the Huanghuacheng that night. We hiked in the dark and set up a tent to camp on the wall, waking up the next morning to gorgeous songs of bugs and wind passing through the mist the next morning. After packing up the camp site, we hiked the Huanghuacheng section for the rest of the day. I highly recommend visiting these gorgeous pieces of the wall and experiencing history far from tourists. It's truly unforgettable.

Great Wall of China - Hiking in Winter
Great Wall of China - Hiking in Winter
Hiked 3 sections of the Great Wall in winter. We did it without any guides after studying blogs and posts by fellow hikers. All these sections are different. From the unrestored Gubeikou Great Wall where we were the only people around, to the wonderful Jinshanling Great Wall where the climb is steep and every direction gives you good photo opportunities, to the restored Mutianyu Great Wall where we hiked in heavy snowfall.
Stayed at local farmhouses on both nights. Ate local meals and hitched rides to nearby bath houses because the homes have no bathrooms! Temperature ranged from -5 deg C (day) to -12 deg C (night). Winter daybreak is at 7am. Sky becomes dark by 5pm. You have only 10 hrs of daylight, so plan your travelling and hiking schedules carefully!!
This once-in-a-lifetime experience was captured on video and we would like to share it with you. The feelings just can't be described. You need to experience it first hand.

Best Way to See the Great Wall!
Poppy and I avoided the crowded, touristy areas of the wall and instead stayed with a local couple. Here, you can see the wall stretching into the distance for miles and miles and miles - with absolutely no one in sight - just me, Poppy, and our guide.
What an incredible experience! I hope that some of you guys can visit!

Great Wall China hiking off the beaten path
A beautiful tour we took of the Great Wall of China while we were visiting Beijing. We hired a local guide who took us to some less visited places along the wall. It was very beautiful, not many tourists and much of the wall was in its natural state. A truly magnificent sight if you plan to visit the Great Wall.

黄山 Mt Huangshan, China (Yellow Mountains) | Timelapse 8K
The sacred mountains of 黄山 Huangshan, China have been a magnet for emperors, artists and monks for centuries. Its dramatic landscapes and granite peaks has inspired numerous classic paintings and poems in Chinese culture.
As someone who has travelled and shot Yosemite extensively, I also refer to Huangshan as the Yosemite of China.
I travelled here during the winter and autumn seasons over the span of a year. The visuals were captured in 8K resolution. If you enjoyed it, please like, share and subscribe!

Fear and Loathing in Beijing #7 - The Great Wall of China!
Jinshanling Great Wall!
In this Episode, we went to the best spot to see the Great Wall of China!
There are a few wall parts around Beijing open for tourism. But most of them are just overrun with people.
The Jinshanling Great Wall is an exception mostly because of the distance to Beijing. Which btw also makes it a Day-Trip.
This is how you get to Jinshanling Great Wall:
You can take the public transport Busses to the Wall between April and November.
The Bus Station is located at WANGJING WEST (Line 13) Metro Station. Leave the Metro Station at Exit C (Dont worry its a bigger station and Exit C is kinda hidden so you have to walk a bit).
After you left the station at Exit C, take a look over your right shoulder to see a RED sign Tourist Bus to Jinshanling Great Wall.
The Bus Station looks a bit sketchy, but don't worry.
After the Red Sign keep walking around 20-50 Meters alongside the Bus station to get to the waiting area with a white sign saying: 金山岭长城旅游班车 only in Chinese.
The waiting area has long white metal bars under a roof to wait in Line - That's the right spot. There a few Busses which departure from that same point - so don't panic just ask every time.
The Bus departure at 8 am in the morning.
( Officially - BUT the last time we went there they told us the bus would depart at 8:30 which it did. But I would not bet on it to happen every time. So make sure to be there at 8 am and don't worry if you have to wait a bit. since there is only one Bus going there you don't want to miss it. )
The Bus Ticket is around 50RMB and can only be bought inside the Bus and in Cash. The ride to Jinshanling takes around 100 Min. and depending on the Traffic the bus will make a short stop at a Gas station.
The Bus back to Beijing departures at 3 pm and 4 pm.
( ! ! Here it's Important to ask the driver when u leave the Bus to make sure u don't miss the last Bus. ! ! )
The Bus back to Beijing will departure at the same place where you get off the Bus. The Ticket back is around 50RMB and can only be bought inside the Bus in Cash.
It will take you back to City. They just stopped at a metro station (Line 13) and somewhere close to Sanlitun - I don't have an exact location.
When You arrive at the parking space in Jinshanling you walk by the Tourist Information Center. I recommend using the shuttle, its only 10RMB and will take you to the entry of the Jinshanling Great Wall Park. You get the Tickets inside.
You can also walk up there in around 15-20 minutes (Like we did in the Video) but you should rather spend that time on the actual Wall.
You also can take a shuttle back to the Parking lot.
It's again 10RMB!
When you arrive at the Entry of the Park you have to buy the Park Ticket.
The Ticket is around 60RMB and 30RMB for Students.
Again I highly recommend taking the cable car to the Wall - in this case, there is no time walking up to the Wall!!
Cable Car roundtrip Ticket is around 30RMB.
The Great Wall is an uneasy Terrain with a lot of rocks, holes and extreme stairs a lot of stairs. So be careful and were good shoes.
You can buy water, snacks, and Ice before you enter the park and also inside every Tower of the wall but it is fucking expansive.
So make sure to buy enough Water and food upfront before you even get on the Bus.
That's it. I hope you have a great time there its absolutely worth it!!

After walking the great wall in China we had the chance to slide down from the great wall. It was a great fun slide. Better than walking down or using the cablecarts
