Harling Point Chinese Cemetary
The Chinese cemetery at Harling Point stands as unique testimony to a history of immigration, discrimination and Chinese forbearance in Canada. It is quite often overlooked by visitors to Victoria and even by Victorian residents.
Chinese Cemetery - King George Terrace.wmv
Located below Gonzales Hill and Walbran Parks on the water side. Driving along King George Terrace, a part of the Scenic Drive in Victoria, at the hill top is a drive out loop to stop and park. You can enter the hill meadow via cement stairs leading down. You have a choice of travelling to the left towards the rocky meadow with a drop to the ocean, or to the right that takes you to a trail to a small, quiet rocky beach. At low tide you can walk around the point of this beach to the Chinese Cemetery. At high tide you can follow the quiet lanes and trails. Short, breaktaking walk with minimal difficulty at the first hill coming down.

JESSE WAUGH ART VLOG - THE ASTOR CHINESE GARDEN COURT
The Astor Chinese Garden Court is a peaceful interior courtyard tucked away in a top corner of The Met Museum in New York.
From Wikipedia:
The Astor Court, located in The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, is a re-creation of a Ming Dynasty-style, Chinese-garden courtyard.
The first permanent cultural exchange between the U.S. and the People's Republic of China,[1] the installation was completed in 1981. Conceived by museum trustee Brooke Astor,[2] the courtyard was created and assembled by expert craftsmen from China using traditional methods, materials and hand tools.

In 2009 the BC Provincial Capital Commission did a series of short history docs about various aspects of BC. With the end of the PCC in March of 2014 it is not clear what will happen to these videos so I thought would post them to ensure they remain online.
Mini-doc on Ross Bay Cemetery in Victoria BC, the final resting place of many of British Columbia's most famous pioneers. Dating from the 1870s, this beautiful Victorian-era cemetery has the oldest surviving formal landscape design in BC.

Chinatown, Victoria... Canada's oldest Chinatown ghosts food and more
Chinatown, Victoria BC is Canada's oldest chinatown. Once home of opium dens, gambling and murder, it's now an artsy placed of superb shops, and great food...though there is still a ghost haunting Fan Tan Alley.

The McGuigan Cemetery
The McGuigan Cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in Ontario. Located near Merrickville, Ontario, most of the graves are of the original settlers in the Merrickville area.
In this short video I again try to document the haunting feelings of history and time that I experience when I visit an old cemetery like the McGuigan.
I hope you like it.
Fan Tan Alley (the narrowest street in Canada) located in Victoria, BC
Fan Tan Ally is the narrowest street in Canada. It is located in the oldest China Town in Canada at Victoria, BC. Named after a Chinese gambling game Fan Tan, the alley originally used as gambling district with restaurant, shops, and opium dens. Today, you will find some amazing shops and tourists in this alley. After visiting this street, i wonder why they call it a street?!

Walbran 100 Steps - McNeill Bay & Victoria's 'Best Bench'.wmv
A beautiful Oak Bay Walk that can be combined with the Walbran Regional Park Walk - Chinese Cemetery Walk. It is not an easy walk due to the steep stairs to begin with at 100 steps and the rocks if you traverse the beach. It can be easy to moderate if you stay along the road and not do the 100 steps.
