Chinmaya Mission & Spirit of India - Shankar Mahadevan
Equanimity of mind - Chapter 2 Verse 14
Swami Chinmayananda describes the importance of being equanimous in life by understanding that life is a pair of opposites. If we base our lives on the strong foundations of Study, we will remain balanced and not be tossed about by life's situations.

Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayanda is an outstanding teacher of Vedanta, with a profound depth beneath his simplicity and humility. He has a simple conviction – to fortify, strengthen and actualise the vision of his Guru, Pujya Swami Chinmayananda.
About the Speaker:
Swamiji has conducted and continues to conduct innumerable Jnana Yajnas or talks on various texts of Vedanta such as Srimad Bhagawat Purana, Srimad Bhagavad Geeta, Shri Ram Geeta and many more - giving us not just their rich knowledge but also practical applications in daily life.
Swamiji has also written commentaries on many texts of Vedanta and authored many original compositions on Vedanta and Bhakti (Devotion).
It’s hard to believe that a person so down to earth, so humble, and so accessible, is the former head of a vast organization with over 300 centres worldwide.

Chinmaya Mission Powai Lord Shiva Jagadeeswara Tranquil Temple Swami Chinmayananda Ashram July 2015
Chinmaya Mission Powai Lord Shiva Jagadeeswara Tranquil Temple Swami Chinmayananda Ashram Sandeepani Sadhanalaya July 2015 HD Video
Chinmayananda Mission’s Sandeepany Sadhanalaya Powai.
In the lush green environs of Mumbai’s suburban haven Powai, lies the Chinmayananda Mission’s Sandeepany Sadhanalaya, set up in 1961. Situated on a hill top, the Sadhanalaya provides a panoramic view of the Powailake and the surrounding areas. Located inside the complex is a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Jagadeeswara. This Shiv temple is remarkable for the mammoth Shivlingam on the dome of the temple.
Strolling through the sprawling leafy campus of the Chinmaya Mission in Powai is like stepping back in time. No cowdung huts and thatched roofs here, but one is reminded of the forest hermitages of the ancient sages as, far from the snarl of vehicular traffic outside, an air of tranquility and piety pervades within. The reverential hush inside Gurudev’s kuti as the relics bring the memory of the Master to life, the soothing sonority of Sanskrit shlokas chanted in unison, and the proximity of nature help one withdraw within and dwell on the mystery that is life.
Towering over the Mission grounds, built on a hillock, is the architecturally striking Jagdeeshwara Temple; its massive arch built to resemble a Buddhist stupa with an inscription from the Koran on it make for a refreshing assertion of the unity of faiths. In the evenings it is the scene of the electrically charged satsangs held by Swami Tejomayananda or another of the acharyas, as crickets chirp outside and the city lights of Powai glimmer in the distance below.
One notices young boys and girls, their full white outfits distinct from the yellow and ochre worn by the renunciate swamis and acharyas, going about their routines. These are the future torchbearers of the movement, undergoing training at the gurukul that represents the very heart of the Chinmaya Mission. They are participating in the Vedanta Course, also known as the Brahmacharya Course, the 13th batch of its kind held since the establishment of this center. In one sense this Sadhanalaya is a boarding school for those in search of Vedantic knowledge. Of course, unlike a boarding school, which is only affordable by the rich, Chinmaya Mission provides free boarding and lodging to eligible students at the Sandeepany. Normally students stay here for a period of about two and a half years, without any home visits. However they do take trips to holy places for special camps.

Guru Strotram - Chinmaya Mission
Swami Chinmayananda is renowned for teaching Bhagavad-gītā, the Upanishads, and other ancient Hindu scriptures in a simple and compelling manner.[1] From 1951 onward, he spearheaded a global Hindu spiritual and cultural renaissance that popularised the religion's esoteric scriptural texts, teaching them in English all across India and abroad.[2]
Swami Chinmayananda inspired the formation of Chinmaya Mission in 1953. Founded by his disciples and led by him, Chinmaya Mission is a spiritual, educational, and charitable nonprofit organisation that encompasses more than 300 centres in India and internationally. Swami Chinmayananda set its mission statement as follows: To provide to individuals, from any background, the wisdom of Vedanta and practical means for spiritual growth and happiness, enabling them to become positive contributors to society.[3] Chinmaya Mission is administered by the apex body of Central Chinmaya Mission Trust, in Mumbai, India, now under the leadership of Swami Chinmayananda's successor, Swami Tejomayananda, the present head of Chinmaya Mission worldwide.
Swami Chinmayananda authored 95 publications in his lifetime, including commentaries on the major Upanishads and Bhagavad-gītā.[4]:176 He served several American and Asian universities as a visiting professor of Indian philosophy and conducted university lecture tours in many countries.[5]:13 Through his Vedantic teachings, publications, centres, ashrams, temples, and social service projects around the globe, his work continues to provide cultural and spiritual instruction to members of the Hindu diaspora. He died on 3 August 1993, which his followers mark as the occasion when he attained Mahasamadhi.
