Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway Red Timetable 5th May 2019
First visit to Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway was made over the may bank holiday where a normal train service ran. The engine ran was South Devon Railway based GWR 5700 Pannier tank no.5786 as L.92 visiting for the season alongside newly restored class 121 Bubblecar no.55024. Originally the sole surviving class 17 no.D8568 failed on the day with brake problems shame i liked to see that.
Shots included:-
55024 - leaving Chinnor
L.92 - Bledlow Bridge Foot Crossing x2, nearby Horsenden Lane Crossing x2 & Princes Risborough Station.
My first visit to the line was a lovely little line with lovely scenery. However the staff wasn't all too friendly who didn't even know what happened to the class 17! Plus to mention the guard who told me that tripods yes tripods might not allow me to film at stations or public foot crossings. Bit of a jobsworth here! So with that impressions I don't think i be returning in a hurry! So beware.
Enjoy!
The Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway
An early cloudy sky gave way to sunshine which brought out the autumn colours on the Chinoor & Princes Risborough Railway. The outward journey to Princes Risborough was hauled by 1953 Derby built D3018 (08 011), but I was unable to get a clear shot of it. The return was hauled by Great Western class 64xx pannier tank 6412 built in 1934.

The Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway is a preserved heritage railway with its headquarters and only station at Chinnor in South Oxfordshire, England. It runs along the foot of the Chilterns escarpment.
The line was part of the former Great Western Railway branch line between Watlington and Princes Risborough. British Railways closed the line to passenger traffic in 1957. The section between Chinnor and Princes Risborough thereafter carried a freight-only cement service until 1989.
The Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway Association was formed around August 1989. On 19 May 1991, the first train - a works train headed by a 0-4-0 Baguley diesel - ran from Chinnor. It began to operate passenger trains between Chinnor and the site of the former Wainhill Halt (about 1 km NE of Chinnor) in August 1994. In 1995 the route was extended by about 3 km to Horsenden Lane, and then to Thame Junction in 1996. The 4 km route has been unchanged since then.
The railway operates on standard gauge between Chinnor and Thame Junction, near Princes Risborough. As of 2016, there is no platform at Thame Junction, so each trip from Chinnor is a return journey of about 8 km.
Chinnor station has been used for the filming of various TV series including Miss Marple and Midsomer Murders.

Wainhill Crossing Halt was a halt on the Watlington and Princes Risborough Railway which the Great Western Railway opened in 1925 to serve the Oxfordshire hamlet of Wainhill. The opening of the halt was part of a GWR attempt to encourage more passengers on the line at a time when competition from bus services was drawing away patronage.

The British Rail (BR) Class 08 is a class of diesel-electric shunting locomotive. The pioneer locomotive, number 13000, was built in 1952 although it did not enter service until 1953. Production continued until 1962; 996 locomotives were produced, making it the most numerous of all British locomotive classes.
As the standard BR general-purpose diesel shunter, almost any duty requiring shunting would involve a Class 08. The class became a familiar sight at many major stations and freight yards. Since their introduction, though, the nature of rail traffic in Britain has changed considerably. Freight trains are now mostly fixed rakes of wagons, and passenger trains are mostly multiple units, neither requiring the attention of a shunting locomotive. Consequently, a large proportion of the class has been withdrawn from mainline use and stored, scrapped, exported or sold to industrial or heritage railways.

Ruston & Hornsby, later known as Ruston, was an industrial equipment manufacturer in Lincoln, England, the company's history going back to 1840. The company is best known as a manufacturer of narrow and standard gauge diesel locomotives and also of steam shovels. Other products included cars, steam locomotives and a range of internal combustion engines, and later gas turbines. The company is now part of the Siemens group of Germany.

Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway - 05.01.14
I first visited the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway in 1999, aged 2, for a Thomas Day, and I've never been back since. I decided it was about time I returned to this fantastic little line! The line doesn't currently have an operational steam locomotive of their own so currently have one in on hire. In service today was:
GWR 0-6-0PT 1366 Class - 1369
BR Class 17 'Clayton' - D8568
Shots in the video are:
D8568 leads the train across Keens Lane Crossing heading for Bledlow
1369 coasts into Chinnor from Bledlow
D8568 slows through Wainhill on her way to Bledlow
1369 powers up past Keens Lane Crossing on the run into Chinnor.
