Five showings at the Cornerhouse complex in Nottingham have been scrapped following the violence there on Sunday night. It is just a temporary move as Blue Story showings are listed for later in the week, NottinghamshireLive reported. Police said a 20-year-old man needed treatment in hospital for what were described as non life-threatening injuries, but was later discharged. A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm after the incident in the city centre. The boy and a 23-year-old man were also both arrested on suspicion of having a bladed article, said police. The incident comes after a series of disturbances at cinemas around the country which led to two chains, Vue and Showcase, temporarily halting screenings of the movie Blue Story. The film takes an unflinching look at life for youngsters caught up in gang violence in London. Both chains restored showings of the film at the end of November, after originally stopping screenings following the series of incidents, which cinema operators had linked to the movie. The decision to halt showings came after several outbreaks of disorder culminated in a serious disturbance at the Birmingham Star City multiplex on November 23. The trouble left seven police officers injured, amid reports of a group of youths armed with machetes. Vue said that during the first 24 hours of Blue Story screenings, the firm recorded 25 incidents, which they said were significant and directly related, in 16 cinemas. Read More Top news stories from Mirror Online These were documented with CCTV footage, police call logs, and detailed incident reports to security or medical authorities, and in a dozen of those incidents the police had to be called. The Nottingham cinema had been showing the Rapman-directed movie around the time the stabbing was reported, but the incident has not been linked to the showing with police describing it as isolated. Superintendent Ross Cooke, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: Our officers have acted quickly to establish the circumstances around this incident leading to two arrests and the recovery of a knife. Isolated incidents such as this are incredibly serious and as a force we are committed to ensuring that appropriate action is taken to keep people safe and bring to justice those responsible.

Further showings of the film in Nottingham have been cancelled after a stabbing at the city's Cineworld complex on Sunday, December 1. East Midlands Police were called at around 8.15pm to reports of knife injuries after a fight broke out at the multiplex venue. A man, 20, was rushed to hospital for treatment but his injuries were said to be non-life-threatening. He was released from hospital and doctors expect him to make a full recovery. Eyewitnesses present during the altercation say they saw police wearing stab-proof vests as they attended the scene. A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of carrying a bladed article and causing grievous bodily harm. A 23-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of carrying a bladed article. Superintendent Ross Cooke, of Nottingham Police, said of the violent incident: Our officers have acted quickly to establish the circumstances around this incident leading to two arrests and the recovery of a knife. “Isolated incidents such as this are incredibly serious and, as a force, we are committed to ensuring that appropriate action is taken to keep people safe and bring to justice those responsible. A spokesman for Cineworld told the Sun: “We can confirm that the Nottinghamshire Police are currently investigating an incident that took place at Cineworld on Sunday night. “The safety and security of our customers is our absolute priority and we take incidents of this nature extremely seriously. “We are doing all we can to support the Police’s investigation.” Blue Story, produced by BBC Films and directed by Andrew Onwubolu, follows the story of two friends who eventually become part of a street war between two south London gangs But while the gritty film has received rave reviews, its success has been over overshadowed by multiple incidents of violence. One such incident included a mass brawl - involving the use of machete - at Star City cinema in Birmingham on November 22, which left seven police injured. Following the huge mass fight, Blue Story was banned by Vue Cinemas, with it eventually reinstated following an online petition. And as a result of the fearsome Birmingham clash, Showcase Cinemas also banned the movie from four cinemas in the UK, including Nottingham, Southampton, Reading and Leeds But the chain followed in the same steps as Vue, by reinstating screenings of the film after careful consideration. Director Andrew Onwubolu – also known as ‘Rapman’ – condemned the violence that had resulted during screenings of the film. He said of the incidents: “It's truly unfortunate that a small
