Welcome to The Aviary!
The Aviary is an inclusive, body positive, and supportive circus space to learn, play, explore, and grow. We offer instruction in the aerial arts; aerial silks, trapeze, lyra, and hammock, as well as hand balance, partner acrobatics, contortion, burlesque, and general conditioning. Our students range from experienced athletes looking to expand upon the skills they learned in previous aerial, dance, and gymnastics training to absolute beginners who want to try a new and exciting type of exercise, and we are committed to finding training plans to match all ability levels. We want our students to feel challenged and exhilarated during the time they chose to spend with us and encouraged to build strength, flexibility, and confidence. We look forward to having you join our growing circus community!
The COCOMAD Procession in Cotteridge, Birmingham
The COCOMAD community fair takes place annually in Cotteridge, a neighbourhood in south-west Birmingham, the second city of England. It is held in the local Cotteridge Park and is organised by the Friends of Cotteridge Park. This video clip shows the start of the street procession on 4 July 2015, setting off from the local shopping centre and ending at the park. The fair is a community event, and has been held every year for over a decade. Although the park is owned by the Municipality of Birmingham, the largest in Western Europe, the event is completely organised by volunteers and the local government is noticeable only by its absence.

The Northfield Square Mile
In February 2011, Your Square Mile began a series of pilot workshops in 16 communities across the UK and Northern Ireland. The workshops were attended by people from all corners of their 'square mile' and included both community activists as well as people who had never been involved in their community before. Our aim was to encourage and support more people to get involved and start projects in their community. The pilot workshops have proved really useful in identifying the barriers that people face when trying to set up local community projects. These learnings have informed the development of Your Square Mile & the formation of the Mutual.
This is what happened at our workshop in Northfield, Birmingham
