The Haunting of Blaine Manor - Oswaldtwistle Trailer
England, 1953.
Renowned American parapsychologist Doctor Roy Earle, famous for discrediting hauntings and exposing fake mediums, is invited to attend a seance in what is said to be the most haunted building in England, a building with a horrific history, Blaine Manor. Even the locals won’t set foot there, as all who walk within those grounds will be cursed.
But his arrival at the manor has awoken something, something horrific within the walls. As a raging storm closes off Blaine Manor from the outside world, Earle and the others find that what is waiting there is not nearly as horrific as what has entered with him…
Featuring: Jo Haydock, Peter Slater, Andrew Yates, Phil Dennison, Daniel Thackeray and Joe O'Byrne

Welcome to Gobbinland Short Film
The Civic Arts Centre in Oswaldtwistle's short film for the Welcome to Gobbinland Heritage project. Lead by Sophie Fitzpatrick the project manager and a core group of local young people. The young people researched to uncover the forgotten mining heritage of the town interviewing hundreds of local people trying to uncover where the name GOBBIN came from. The young people found out it was a mining term and decided to focus on local pit disasters to make sure the miners would never be forgotten again. They created a drama performance that was translated into a film script by steve fairclough. The short film was filmed and produced by THEMM. Please like and share!! Thank you.
William's Christening Part 1
As we move towards a United Benefice we are looking at ways to help communicate everything that is happening across all of the three churches in Oswaldtwistle. One of these methods is the use of our website, which up until now has been used solely by St. Paul's.
You will see changes being applied on a regular basis along with a new front page and more information from the three churches.
Williams party was held at Oswaldtwistle Social Club and the following is some information about Oswaldtwistle itself.
The name is derived from Oswald and Twistle. The word twistle is an old English word meaning brooks meet. Legend has it that St.Oswald, King of Northumbria passed through, giving the area its full title of Oswald's Twistle, which in time came to be Oswaldtwistle. However, it is more likely derived from the name of the Anglo-Saxon who farmed the land.
Sir Robert Peel, 1st Baronet, who, as a factory-owner, effected wide developments in the cotton industry, was born at Peelfold, within the township, in 1750. Another historical figure associated with the textile industry was James Hargreaves, inventor of the Spinning Jenny.
The centre of Oswaldtwistle is home to a: Lloyds TSB, Betfred, Oswaldtwistle Clinic, Travis Perkins building merchants as well as a Co-Op supermarket. There is also a Tesco Express and a SPAR. Other stores include an appliance repairs/sales, numerous takeaways, numerous barbers (M & F), estate agents, off licences, bakers, butchers, funeral directors and many more shops.
Oswaldtwistle Moor
Oswaldtwistle Moor (adjacent to Haslingden Moor) is an extensive area of moorland to the south of Oswaldtwistle, with Haslingden Grane bordering the moor's southern edges, Belthorn to the west and Haslingden to the east. The area forms part of the West Pennine Moors. Plans were made in 2007 to build a wind farm consisting of twelve wind turbines on the moors. This attracted both support and opposition, but the plan was approved by councillors in 2010.[2] Further developments have yet to take place, and the plan remains controversial.
Oswaldtwistle Mills
Oswaldtwistle Mills is a notable attraction; a textile mill converted into a craft fair and with an exhibition about life in the mill a hundred years ago. It is also home of the world's largest pear drop, made by Stockley's Sweets.
Civic Theatre
Also of note is the 474 capacity, recently refurbished, Civic Theatre, known as the Friendly Theatre and the brand new Civic Arts Centre. Past performers at the Civic Theatre include: Ken Dodd, Rick Wakeman, Steve Harley, The Houghton Weavers, Marty Wilde & Derek Acorah.
The ground floor has recently been refurbished and in August 2010 opened as the Civic Arts Centre. The first production performed at the Arts Centre was Romeo and Juliet. There are workshops and drama sessions most evenings, plus photography projects and new plays being written and performed. Civic Arts Centre.
Rhyddings Park
Rhyddings Park is the only formal park within Oswaldtwistle. It was originally the grounds of a private house belonging to a local mill owning family. It has been a public park since 1909. More information about Rhyddings Park can be found on the website of its active community group.
Audience Feedback: Why should you see The Haunting of Blaine Manor? BACK ON TOUR IN 2019
Audience reaction to the show. This was recorded after a Halloween performance of the play, which is why a couple of the interviewees here have horror face paint on, very much getting into the mood of Halloween...

Identity Crisis Tour
Phina Oruche has an artistic career that has spanned 25 years, including work as a model, actress, writer, broadcaster and author, Her own experience of black flight (black actors believing that their only chance of consistent work and career advancement is to leave the UK) is central to Identity Crisis. Her radio show on the BBC targeted the African Caribbean community in Merseyside. As Gabby Sharpe on the UK TV prime time soap hit, Hollyoaks. It deals with loss, racism, triumph from fashion model in London,NYC and Paris to childhood snaps: through multimedia projections designed by Helen Newall (Theatre-in-the -Quarter) images created by others are critically re-assessed and post-colonial ideas are playfully deconstructed. Roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Footballers Wives,BBC and as a newspaper journalism via her long running column in the Liverpool Echo are directly relevant as the anecdotal and dramatic core of the show. The show is dramaturged and directed by Bill Hopkinson (Writers Guild Encouragement Awards winner as Dramaturg)

Shout! The Mod Musical - Civic Theatre 2018
A nostalgic nod to London’s Swinging Sixties.
Tickets:
The musical follows five young female subscribers to a fictional magazine called Shout!, “the magazine for the modern woman”, as they come of age during the liberating 1960s that made England swing.
From cover to cover, Shout! unfolds like a musical magazine and travels in time through the decade, chronicling the dawn of liberation of women.
Just as Dusty Springfield, Petula Clark, Cilla Black and Lulu were independent women with major careers, English (and indeed Irish!) women were redefining themselves in the face of changing attitudes about women. Shout! and its all-female cast reflect that change through the unforgettable music of the era.
Shout! contains show stopping new arrangements of classic pop anthems of the decade, including, “Downtown”, “Son of a Preacher Man”, “Goldfinger”, “I Only Wanna Be With You”, “To Sir With Love” and of course, “Shout!”.
The songs and each girl’s own unfolding story are tied together by hilarious sound bytes from the period – from 60s advertisements for anything and everything – to lonely hearts letters answered by Shout! magazine’s advice columnist, who thinks each girl’s problem can be solved with a “fetching new hair style and a new shade of lipstick.”
“Shout captures all the exuberant innocence, camp melodrama, and soulful heartbreak of the Sixties diva songbook” – The Times London
“Hits you with a burst of noisy energy, and sheer talent that simply takes your breath away” – Whatsonstage.com
“Stylish and inventive…a surprisingly shagadelic shindig” – Talking Broadway
“If you loved the songs of the 1960s you will thoroughly enjoy performances of songs such as Shout!…. There is a great sense of joy and fun about the whole production …it deserves to be a success” – No More Workhorse
