THE ABCs OF DEATH - UK Theatrical Release Teaser Trailer
Monster Pictures announced today that The ABCs of Death, an anthology of 26 short films, directed by 26 Directors depicting 26 ways to die will be released theatrically in the UK & Eire in 26 cinemas nationwide on the 26 April 2013.
• 26 Directors
• 26 ways to die
• 26 cinemas
• 26 April 2013
The ABCs of Death is perhaps the most ambitious anthology film ever conceived with productions spanning fifteen countries and featuring segments directed by over two dozen of the world's leading talents in contemporary genre film, including the directors of House of the Devil, Hobo with a Shotgun, A Serbian Film, Tokyo Gore Police, You're Next & four British Directors - Ben Wheatley (Sightseers), Simon Rumley (Red, White & Blue), Jake West (Doghouse) & Leeds based Lee Hardcastle, who with his claymation short, won a competition to be the final Director. Inspired by children's educational books, the motion picture is comprised of twenty-six individual chapters, each helmed by a different director assigned a letter of the alphabet. The directors were then given free rein in choosing a word to create a story involving death.
This alphabetical arsenal of destruction orchestrated by what has been described as a stunning roll call of some of the most exciting names in horror across the world. is one of the most hotly anticipated releases for 2013. When the trailer received its first UK airing, last year, it was screened to a packed audience at the 13th Frightfest, Empire Cinema, Leicester Square, the 2 minute clip received rapturous applause from the attending audience. The film will receive its UK premiere at the this year's Glasgow Film Festival as part of Film4Frightfest (Tickets for this event are now sold out) and its Irish premiere at the inaugural Twisted Celluloid Film Festival at the Triskel Arts Centre.

TRAVELLING LIGHT A Docu Fable
Travelling Light 1999, was commissioned by the Poetry Society, UK as an invitation for Richards to create a digital response to the 50th Anniversary of the SS Windrush, the ship that heralded the great Caribbean migration to the UK in 1948. ( ) The oral and visual narrative refer to creation myths, travel, labour, abundance and personal freedoms. Melodies based on Yoruba praise songs, calypso and early jazz allow simple verse to augment photographs and animation. Paintings by Jan Wade. An ambience is created of a by-gone era that is perhaps still with us. This is a Docu-Fable.
This 8.5 minutes contextualises the impetus and inspiration for Richards' work as a writer and photographer.

Film London Jarman Award 2011
Launched in 2008, the Film London Jarman Award recognises artists working with moving image and whose work resists conventional definition. The Award is inspired by visionary avant-garde filmmaker Derek Jarman, one of the most esteemed and controversial artists of the late 20th century. Crane.tv caught up with this year's winners, London-based filmmakers Anja Kirschner and David Panos. The duo creates ambitious, richly layered films that consider the possibilities of (or do you really mean for?) political art and social transformation. As winners, Kirschner and Panos received £10,000 in prize money and a Channel 4 short film commission, for new strand ?Random Acts?, worth £20,000. filmlondon.org.uk/networks/artists_network/jarman_award

Margaret Thatcher death party in Brixton: LOL sign put up at Ritzy cinema, London
A Margaret Thatcher death party in Brixton saw protesters scale the Ritzy Cinema and change the sign to say 'Margaret Thatchers dead LOL.'. More than 100 people gathered in Brixton, south London - the scene of fierce riots in 1981 - two years into her first time in office.
A crowd of around 300 people assembled in Glasgow's George Square where in 1989 protests to the introduction of the former prime minister's poll tax took place. Some wore party hats and launched streamers into the air while a bottle of champagne was opened with a toast to the demise of Baroness Thatcher.
Members of various organisations including the Anti-Bedroom Tax Federation, the Communist Party, the Socialist Party, the Socialist Working Party, the International Socialist Group, were joined by members of the public to mark the occasion. Report by Ashley Fudge.
