Sausage Partying in Romania - Travel Transylvania Trilogy
We're in the southern most part of Transylvania. Brasov, Bran, and Râșnov are the locations we visit in this video. While our first stop was Bran Castle, we ended up leaving Bran rather quickly to go to Rasov where we found a great little beer garden that was barbecuing up some sausages. Beer and sausage beats any sort of tourist attraction. Dracula would agree if his diet wasn't so regimented.
The next day we hiked in Poiana Brașov, a ski resort that turns into just a nice hill for hiking in the summer. From there, we got amazing views across the Carpathian mountains. We had lunch on the hill and hiked back down to the town where we had coffee and a local specialty. Kurtoszkalacz is chimney cake, a pastry that's wrapped around a wooden pole and grilled over coals. It's covered in sugar and cinnamon, sometimes nuts, sprinkles, or even chocolate. It's a tasty treat that goes great with a cup of coffee.
The next day, we explored Brasov, one of the best cities in Transylvania. The old town is beautiful, with a huge church that's known as the black church. The name comes from the fact that the church is stained black from a fire that ravaged the town.
Of course, we can't go to Transylvania without poking a bit of fun. What do you think of when I say Transylvania?

Brasov, Romania - The best winter city break
Brasov, a city in the heart of Transylvania, surrounded by the breathtaking Carpathian Mountains and a birthplace of many legends. It is known for it's medieval Saxon walls, towers, Gothic-style architecture and baroque buildings.
On a snowfall the city becomes a story-like winter wonderland. The colorful Christmas lights adds a nice contrast to the beautiful white landscape.
I arrived early in the morning to Brasov and although I haven't been in the city for the past 3 years, I managed to find my way to the Piata Sfatului square easily. Step by step the old awesome adventure memories came to me. I remembered, ooh man...the time when I went to Brasov with Shalaka and Nandita - my really good friends from India, it was soo much fun. Braaaasov, a place of many cool memories!!!
Every time I'm in Brasov I must go to KFC too, tasty food with a brilliant view. KFC in Romania is the best in the entire world, have I told you that already?
Finding the city covered by snow, flying my drone above the city was a must do. This winter experience in Brasov was so satisfying, I totally felt like a kid.
I was really eager to go to the top of Timpa, but unfortunately the cable car wasn't working. Probably I could have attempted climbing it? well maybe next time, cause it was quite foggy, or cloudy or wintry cause it was really snowing.
Found a moody little coffee shop too, with a nice view over the narrow alleys of Brasov and the snow falling. The barista was really friends and welcoming, probably because I was the only person sitting down to enjoy a nice coffee with cake.
Time is flying so fast when you walk in a place like Brasov, you barely notice the notion of time. I have suddenly seen the Christmas lights turning on, so I finished my coffee and went to the Christmas Market.
The Christmas Market definitely holds the best Christmas tree I have seen so far in my trip in Romania, but the market itself is also cosy, colorful and welcoming.
I totally feel like I am rediscovering Romania.
After such a full day of rediscovery, remembering good old memories, enjoying a nice snow fall, I am heading towards the buss station to continue my journey to the Winter Wonderland of Romania.
Poiana Brasov is a place where I am always going back with pleasure, a true winter-land with a great view.
This time I am planning to try out something new, somethings I longed for since ever.

Heading back to Bucharest from Brasov, Romania allowed us to eat all of our favorite Romanian dishes one last time before leaving the country. With this in mind, we headed over to La Plăcinte restaurant to order a complete meal. With a huge menu featuring a selection of Moldavian pies, soups, salads, grilled meats and desserts narrowing down what we wanted to have for the last time was a daunting task. We ended up ordering as follows:

Our Favorite Romanian Food in Bucharest, Romania Travel Video Transcript:
We're coming to the end of our time in Romania and we thought we'd take you out one last time to show you some traditional Romanian cuisine. It's definitely been a highlight of our trip. We've absolutely loved eating Romanian food, so we can't wait to show you a few new things.
So I'm very excited because our food has finally arrived and first up I'm going to show you this Moldavian pancake. So it is basically a dough pancake and it is filled with sheep's cheese and cow's cheese but our server also asked if we wanted bacon inside, so we said 'yes, of course.' So let's dig in. I'm going to cut it up and show you what it looks like.
On this inside. Oh, yeah. You can see all of the cheese seeping out. Mmmm.
Yeah, we've had this a few times and they're really generous with the cheese. Oh yeah. And you can order all different kinds of cheese. They have cottage cheese, you can get mozzarella cheese, whatever you like. Oh, so check it out from this angle. Can you see the bacon in there? Oh, yeah. Oh yeah, baby. Oh, yeah.
Let's try it. I'm just eating it like a pizza. I don't know if is right.
Oh, that's still hot. Mmmm.
That's really good guys. Really good. A little greasy. My fingers are looking oily. But those flavors, the salty cheese and then you've got the bacon. It's real good. It's a nice little appetizer here. I like that you can have it as an appetizer or you could also have it as a main. Like if you were to eat that whole thing it's filling.
And we forgot to mention this can also be served as a dessert. That's right. You can get sweet ones as well. Yeah, sweet cheese and raisins and cranberries. We haven't tried one of those yet but. Maybe we should. Hahaha.
Okay, look over here because this is a pretty cool dish. Polenta balls. And I find it really interesting because I've had polenta before in places like Argentina and Italy but I've never seen the polenta rolled out into a little ball like they do here in Romania.
And if I cut it in half you can see that it is stuffed with cheese. Oh, yeah. Just look at that. Oh, yeah.
And here it comes with a garlic sauce with dill and also sour cream. So let's add a bit of sour cream. Dunk that in the garlic. Look at that. Oh, wow.
Mmmm. That's real good. That is so garlic-y. I'm going to have really bad breath after this but it is so good. It is worth it.
This is really good. This sort of reminds me a little bit of a lasagna. Mmmmm.
And of course we could not resist getting some dessert. So we are having something called Tort a Lunel. And I'm probably butchering the name but that is how I think it is pronounced. And it is basically a dense chocolate cake with Halva, walnuts and peanuts. Oh, my!
Alright, time for me to try this. Wow! That is some kind of decadent. I don't even know how we're going to finish this. The two of us with one piece of cake.
I find when I'm having Romanian food I am so stuffed by the end of the meal. Siesta time after this for sure..
Time for price point. It was 95 Lei which if we do the conversion according to Sam is very cheap. Right, Sam? Yeah, it is just over 20 US dollars and we ended up getting 3 drinks, 3 mains and a dessert. Not bad.

But I can not tell the legend of Transylvania without the small city Bran in the suburb of Brasov. The background of the classic Dracula of Vampire literature is Transylvania. The Draculae Duke, notorious for killing a prisoner in a long skewer, became the motif of the novel Dracula and today Dracula attracts people as it is the most famous Romanian and best tourist product. Especially, this small castle is called Dracula 's castle because the artist is similar to the one described in the novel. It is more romantic than a dreckah's house, even though it's like the house of Dracula, with its hairy ceiling and its simple combination of white and red. The interior of the narrow staircase is not far from luxury, but it was introduced to Forbes as the second most expensive private house in the world, thanks to the reputation of Dracula's house. Well, let 's meet Dracula. Dracula is also known as the Vlad Thorn Ball. He was famous for his harsh personality as a monarch of Walachia and the habit of killing people with a skewer. This is the specialty of Dracula. It's a punishment to kill a skewer. They lay people on the floor, tie them well, pierce the skewers down, pierce the body, and put them on the ground. Duke Dreclair says that this long skewer has defied the Turkish invasion and led to the lust of German merchants. I want to tell you about Dracula that to our Romanians, he is a hero, not a tyrant. We are still waiting for him to come back. I want to put the politicians into the skewers nowadays. He did not tolerate corruption. During his reign, most of the sinners were punished to die on a skewer. At that time, no one stole gold rugs from market wells. I was afraid to stick it in the skewer. So we want him to come back. We are purely Romanian. And we learned about Dracula's history. I learned Dracula in history, and I really like him. The real Dracula is not pale and has a long hair, and the castle in the novel is inherited by Americans and promoted to Dracula's house. It is a day of mixed reality with incredible reality and imagination that I want to believe.

After leaving Lake Vallea, I continued my journey eastward along the Carpathian Mountains. When you reach the entrance of the city where the coolness along the tree-lined streets is reached, the sign with the city name on the far mountain is reminiscent of Hollywood. Brasov surrounded by mountains and fortresses with red houses around a square like a European historical drama set. The crossroads of eastern and western trade in the Middle Ages created the largest Gothic church between Istanbul and Vienna, and German immigrants built walls to guard this rich city. In the 12th century, this area was conquered by the Kingdom of Hungary. After that, the Hungarians called the Germans to build the city here. This is where the Kingdom of Hungary and the border of the Ottoman Empire meet, and I needed a city to defend. The Germans came here to build the city and build the fortress. Then they stopped the people who originally lived here from coming into the city. At that time, I could not live in the city unless I was a German, and I could not have equal rights with Germans. The square, which was open only to Germans, has unique windows that can only be found in German towns. But by the 19th century, Romanians had the right to live in cities, and today, Romanians are 90% Latin-speaking. It's very similar to the Spanish people. Like the Italians. I think life habits are similar. The time to get up and eat in the morning is similar. But the working hours seem to be different. The Spanish people go to work earlier. I work from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm and take a break and go back to work. Anyway, it's beautiful here. It is very beautiful and blue. It's a really nice place.

Bus from Brasov to Bran Part 1 Transylvania Romania November 2014
The best skii destination in Romania, Poiana Brasov
Poiana Brașov is one of the most popular ski resort in Romania, but not only, it also attracts many tourists from all around Europe. I am here in Poiana Brasov, because for a long time I have desired to be able to snowboard and today I am taking that first step in learning how.
Mihai - the ski instructor from scoala de schii was kind enough to show me the basic things in order to quickly start snowboarding. After 2 hours of learning, practicing I was able to nicely slip down from the hill.
After a full day of snowboarding and falling, I got soaked wet. By the time I got back to the hotel, I found myself locked out. Hmm, weird isn't it? I knock on the door, cause I didn't know what else to do. Five minutes passed by, no one answers, I know again. Ten minutes, 15 minutes passed by and nothing. I decided that I should find a place to eat and warm up. Just when I started leaving, the receptionist ran after me and asked me to quickly go inside. I ran inside with her and she told me that she locked the door because two bears were outside of the hotel. Wait a minute. What??? There are two wild bears outside and you locked me out???! The wet cloths are frozen on me, I wouldn't even be able to run in case I had to. Well, same thing happened the second day. True story. :)
The second day I explored the a little bit the forest, took a few pictures and flew my drone. Right after that I went up to the mountain and had a nice coffee at 1725m altitude.
Later on in the day I traveled back home, back to Zalau.
Such a nice way to end your 2017, visiting some of the best cities in Romania and do things I wished for.
The plans for 2018, one word: Mountains. I am turning 30 years old this year, so I am planning to do 30 peaks by my 30th.
Till then enjoy my first snowboard experiences, falls and some amazing winter forest views.

It is still sunny at 6 pm. Villagers and travelers come together one by one. During the two weeks of festivals in August, students learn traditional crafts during the day, and at night they come to the grass in a sophisticated fashion. When people are gathered, hora dance is added to music. When the girls dressed in traditional clothes make a circle, the children follow it and the traveler and the villagers join together to make a comeback. Someone gets out of hand and I become part of this big circle. The person next to me rolls his foot wide and tells me the steps, and we go to the beat with no squat. And we look at each other here together. Hora dancing, a Romanian style ganggangsulla, is getting faster and faster, so no matter what happens, The end of this music can not even be guessed. When the horror is over, Nerubertitu begins to compete with each other, and each one turns slightly slower in accordance with each rhythm and slows down and enjoys music. When the blue nights are deepening and the shy Sung-cha people can not conceal their excitement, the end of this journey is getting closer. We are from this area. I am glad that foreigners have become part of our families and towns. We enjoyed having our traditional dance together. Come back for a big drink. Come and drink a cup of traditional sake, Saremal. Slurney, you should try it. I also like traditional dance. Anyone will be welcome. This village never leaves a person in trouble. What is the name of our country? Romania. I will wait for the Koreans to come to Romania. Like the horror that does not end all night, the Romans land where different people meet and hold the hand of a stranger.
