A Cidade de Santos, Sao Paulo, Brazil
Santos, is a municipality in the São Paulo state of Brazil, founded in 1546 by the Portuguese nobleman Brás Cubas. Criado em 1922 para abrigar a principal Bolsa de Café e Mercadorias do mundo - à época, Santos era a maior praça cafeeira do planeta - o prédio, com cerca de 6 mil m², é considerado um dos mais belos do município. A construção, com mais de 200 portas e janelas, abriga desde 1998 o Museu do Café, onde se encontra uma cafeteria, ponto de encontro de quem trabalha no Centro Histórico e visita obrigatória para os turistas.
A grandiosa Sala dos Pregões tem no teto o vitral 'A visão de Anhanguera', de autoria de Benedicto Calixto. Três imensos painéis do referido pintor enfeitam a parede do fundo; o maior, central, tem 153 figuras, representando a elevação de Santos à categoria de vila, de forma onírica, com a parte real nítida e o sonho do progresso no futuro, esfumado. Menores, os painéis laterais mostram a concepção do artista sobre a paisagem de Santos em 1822 e 1922.
