UK's first community-owned pub opens its doors in Brighton
Now, after years of effort and whole load of enthusiasm, a pub with a difference will open its doors today.
The Bevy will be the UK's first community owned pub on a council estate.
Always keen to take a trip to the bar, Latest TV's James Lillywhite met those behind the plan - and finding out how they will toast the big day.
Brighton, England
We spent a day and a half in the hippie coastal town of Brighton England. Definitely a highlight of our early September England vacation. The town is so lively, but relaxing, and is a refreshing change up from the fast hustle that is London. Brighton is also very easy to travel to from London.
The train is about a 50 minute trip from the National Victoria Station from London. I would advise going during the non-peak hours (about midday, between the rush hours) because the ticket can be twice as expensive during peak hours. We spent about 33 pounds each person for round trip tickets during the non-peak hours.
Once in Brighton, it is very easy to walk around the town and get to many places from the train station. We took a cab from the station to the hotel when we arrived because we were short on time to check in. It was about 6 pounds for the cab. Once you get your bearings in the city, it is an easier walk back to the station to go back to London.
We stayed at The White House Hotel and it was lovely. Very clean, very nice rooms, right on the beach, and a short walk to the Brighton Pier. The staff is very friendly and the stay came with many options for a served English breakfast in the morning. I loved The White House and will definitely want to go back.
There are many pubs in the area and a very favorite of ours was the Black Dove. This bar was a cocktail bar with a lot of character and the staff took much pride in their work. Sit back and hang out with Brighton locals. A definite must!
Some other things that we did in Brighton included, eating lunch on the pebble beach, visiting The Lanes (north and south), and taking a tour of the royal pavilion. Brighton is a great trip and there is a lot of things to keep a wonderer busy for a couple of days.

The Ladie's Mile pub toilets, Brighton HL Dudley & Dauntless
At last I have found his pub, another 1930s classic with two sets of toilets, presuming what was once two bars have no been knocked into one.
The first set of toilets has a Dudley Tri-well which seems t have been painted black disguising itself as a Dauntless while the pan is a Limdone while the urinals and wash basin look. I had flushed this before I filmed which is why it has taken a while for the cistern to refill.
The second set of toilets is similar but replaced urinals and was basin with modern stuff but the toilet this time is a Pyramid with a Dauntless. Again I had pre flushed this which is why it takes a while to flush again but it does produce powerful flush.

West Pier toilets, Brighton, East Sussex LLC
These toilets where opened around two years ago in the site of earlier toilets. Typical of modern stuff, things did not exactly work with a very poor flush.
One point give only because they where clean due to an attendant on site.

New england quater graff walk
For a long time i have wanted to do a one shot Video walk around Brighton. I have finally got around to it. This is not my original Video walk the first walk took in most of the Brighton Town Centre hot spots it unedited was just over an hour long with editing I managed to get it down to about 16 mins which is still too long for youtube.
Then came working out what to use for the soundtrack Brighton has a long running rappers open mike Called Slipjam-B. I contacted Hines and Karl if they could do part of the open mike with a Graffiti theme. With a bit of persuading Hines got the themed rap to happen during the 4 bar pass. When Karl sent me the desk mix it was about 7mins long!
So i thought rather than edit the hell out of the original vid i would do a new smaller walk around New England Quarter. I chose New England Quarter cos it has a good mix of legals street bombs and tags something for all the family! The Filming pretty smoothly apart from nearly being run over and a street drinking kinda guy got the strop so i had to cut that bit out!
Thanks to all the artists and writers who keep the streets pretty and scuzzy in equal measures.
Big Up the Slipjam-B massive
Eastbourne
Eastbourne ( pronunciation ) is a large town, seaside resort, and borough in East Sussex, on the south coast of England, 17 miles (27 km) east of Brighton. Eastbourne is located immediately east of Beachy Head, the highest chalk sea cliff in Great Britain and part of the South Downs National Park. With a seafront consisting largely of Victorian hotels, the pier, and a Napoleonic era fort and military museum, Eastbourne was developed by the Duke of Devonshire in 1800 from four separate hamlets. It has a growing population, a broad economic base, and is home to companies in a wide range of industries.
Though Eastbourne is a relatively new town, there is evidence of human occupation in the area from the Stone Age. The town grew as a fashionable tourist resort largely thanks to prominent landowner, William Cavendish, later known as the Duke of Devonshire. Cavendish appointed architect Henry Currey to design a street plan for the town, but not before sending him to Europe to draw inspiration. The resulting mix of architecture is typically Victorian and remains a key feature of Eastbourne.

48 North Pier, (49 was removed for amendment)
Continue to the railings and see the blue plaque marking the shipwreck of the Foudroyant. See North Pier (48).
North Pier is the oldest of Blackpool's three piers, this Grade II listed structure was built in 1862-3 to the designs of Eugenius Birch, architect of some of the finest piers in the UK. Cast iron screw piles and columns support iron girders and a 1,070 foot long wooden deck. A jetty of 474 feet was added in 1868 for tourists on steamboat excursions to and from the Lake District, Isle of Man, Llandudno, Southport and Liverpool. The small pavilions along the length of the main deck date from 1897. The theatre at the end of
the pier replaced an Indian style pavilion and concert room destroyed by fire in 1938. Its predecessor had burnt down in 1921. The attractive cast iron sun lounge with its partially open roof, sheltered guests from the wind whilst allowing in Blackpool's famous fresh air and sunshine!
