and Banh Loc: a clear-looking, chewy tapioca dumplings filled with pork, shrimp or mung beans.
Then our second stop we eat Mi Quang the famous Da Nang Noodles and Banh Xeo, the delicious Vietnamese Sizzling Pancakes.
For our third stop, we try Da Nang pork rolls Banh Cuon Thit Heo and Banh Trang Dap Dap, referred to as “hit cake.”

Shopping In Vietnam's Counterfeit Mall: Han Market, Da Nang
Headed to Vietnam? If so, your first or last stop should be in Da Nang! At Han Market, you can get designer clothing at 90% off the retail price in the United States. Most of the clothes were sold between $1-$4 USD without having to negotiate. Many of the shops had prices displayed so you didn’t have to play the “negotiate the price” game.
BUYING CLOTHES IN DA NANG, VIETNAM
I went through 6 shirts in 3 days. It’s hot and humid in Vietnam. You will sweat a lot! To stay cool, I’d try to remember how it felt to be cold like at the underground amusement park Salina Turda. and when I was freezing at the top of Mt. Fuji (sort of).
A friend recommended picking up some dry-fit shirts so I’m not just walking around in my sweat soaked shirt all day. That’s when I found Han Market!
Prices Seen While Walking Around:
T-Shirts: 40k VND
Dry-fit Shirts: 70k VND
Dri-fit Shorts: 100k VND
Dry-fit Pants: 150k VND
Traditional Chinese Shirt: 200k VND
Dresses: 100-140k VND
Traditional Vietnamese Dress: 290k VND
DA NANG SHOPPING MALL: HAN MARKET
Han Market should be your first stop in Vietnam if you’re planning on not bringing much clothes and luggage, since you can buy everything you need at Han Market DaNang for super cheap. They have shoes, hats, watches, jewelry, toys, souvenirs all types of clothes for men/women, fabric shops, custom tailors and food stalls and a local market!
If you’re planning on doing a lot of shopping in DaNang, this should be your last stop in Vietnam so you don’t have to carry your purchases with you as you travel around Vietnam.
HOW TO NEGOTIATE PRICES AT MARKETS IN DA NANG ?
The pricing at Han Market was very transparent. They would have signs for the prices and those prices would be consistent among other shops carrying the same or similar goods. Prices for clothing ranged from $2-3 USD. At prices that low, I wouldn’t bother negotiating since that would just come out of seller’s commission. That $1 USD means a lot more in Vietnam than it does in the United States.
BUT! You may run into some vendors where the price is not transparent. If the price is seems unreasonable, definitely negotiate. When negotiating, offer 30% of what they are asking and try to fish for their lowest price. Even if they come to a low price, still don’t buy it. Since a lot of the places sell similar goods, try that tactic at a few more places. That should give you a sense of what the going rate for the item is so you can come to a fair price.
HAN MARKET DA NANG CLOTHING QUALITY?
It can be hit or miss. You can inspect your items before purchasing them, I did not.
I bought 7 articles of clothing and 3 were of poor quality. There were many loose threads and poor stitching. The other items I bought were in PERFECT condition. It was of quality I’d expect at a retail store.
Four of the shirts I bought at the Da Nang Shopping Mall were Nike Dri-Fit shirts for 70k VND ($3.02 USD). That same shirts goes for $35 at the Official Nike Store and $30 on Amazon! From those 4 shirts I bought, 3 were in perfect condition. Even if only 1 shirt was good, that’s still less than half of what I would have paid in the US.
BRAND NAME SHOPPING IN DA NANG REAL?
Definitely. Some of the items I bought were at the same quality of a legitimate store. Big brands like Nike, Adidas, Under Armour have their clothing manufactured in Vietnam due to the low costs. It wouldn’t be surprising if items disappeared from the factory and appeared at Han Market.

Han Market Da Nang, Vietnam - A Simple Travel Review
The most important trading point of Da Nang City, Han market is popular among local and tourist alike. Located at the grand intersection of Tran Phu Street, Bach Dang Street, Hung Vuong Street and Tran Hung Dao Street, this famous market holds a very important position in the history of the city.
Even though in the old days, Han Market was only a modest trading venue for small businessmen, the convenient and ideal location have enabled it to develop into a big trading center near Han River, from which people gave it the name Han Market. The market was officially opened in the 1940s. The French constructed there a big train system called Tourane Marché to transport goods to the main station. As the business grew unceasingly, some Chinese and Vietnamese businessmen decided to build a commercial center around the market with grocery stores, jewelry stores, pharmacy stores, etc. In 1989, the market was fully renovated. Nowadays, as the renovation gives the market a spacious and refreshing atmosphere, the arrangement of stores inside the market also gives the customers a relaxing feeling when shopping there.
Interestingly, local inhabitants used to regard the market as “rich market” because it was extremely popular among the more well-off classes of the society. Today that term is absolutely out of place, as everyone enjoys shopping there. A plenty of goods ranging from fresh foods (vegetables, fruits, fishes and meats) to clothes is traded all day long. However, the most special thing to look for at the market is probably fish sauce: the familiar yet unique food of the Central Regions.
In addition to the variety of choices, Han Market also attracts a lot of people by its relatively low prices because it functions as the center where goods are gathered before being distributed to smaller markets in the province.
Han market is ideal for those looking for some Danang's souvenirs before heading home. If you are flying overseas after, you may take limited dried food with you but if you have more time to spare in Vietnam, stock up on fresh fruits and local snacks. Some specialties that can be found in Han market include: Ly Son garlic, Chili paste, dried rice crackers, dried squids. At the front of the market are fruit stalls, abundant with tropical option from bananas to jackfruit.
One can easily reach Han market by taxi or motor taxi. If you stay at one of the beach resort on Danang coast, a trip to Han market would cost $5/one way by taxi.

Helio Night Markets Da Nang Vietnam - Travel in Vietnam - NZ Vlogging Couple
We accidentally stumbled across the Helio night markets and what we saw, looked like it could've been the best street food in Vietnam we have seen yet!
Living in Danang Vietnam we have a local night market that runs every night and we believe that is the best street food market in Da Nang for both Vietnamese street food and foreign dishes, but because of the large range of food on offer here, we will definitely be adding the Helio night markets to our weekend list of Where to eat in Da Nang.
These markets are a weekend only event and are outside the front of the Helio Centre, on the corner of the road that leads to the entrance of Sun World Da Nang Wonders theme park.

We are Leon and Tash, a New Zealand vlogging couple who set off on an amazing Vietnam adventure as fulltime travellers, backpacking Vietnam. But we weren't going to travel to Vietnam for one of those ordinary backpacking Vietnam trips you hear about everybody doing, where they go for a couple off weeks and check out the beaches or maybe riding through Vietnam at such a crazy pace that they never get off the beaten track. No we want more than that.
Our Vietnam adventures start with learning the way of the locals, taking just enough time to figure out how things work, discover what the Must see places in Vietnam are and more importantly where Vietnam's hidden gems are...
To do this, we moved to Danang Vietnam. The plan was to spend 3 months living in Da Nang, meeting and learning from locals about the culture, the amazing food, their way of living and what places they would recommend to travel in Vietnam.
And because Danang is in the middle of the country, we hoped we might meet other tourists or expats who were having their own Vietnam travel adventure or were at the halfway point of motorcycle riding through Vietnam and hear from them, what places they thought we must visit in Vietnam. Also, as new travel vloggers, having a base there meant we could try things like doing Da Nang Vietnam travel vlog or creating a Danang Vietnam travel guide, before also taking on the stresses of fulltime travel.
Then in month 4, that's when the real Vietnam adventure begins. With our new list of must see places, we will head to Saigon and buy a couple of motorbikes. to start our Vietnam road trip!
Motorcycle riding through Vietnam seems like one of the most hectic, crazy and chaotic things anyone could do, but we can't wait!! And we wont be following a simple South to North / Saigon to Hanoi route, we plan on doing more like a figure 8, so that our travel in Vietnam will cover both the inland and coastal areas of this amazing country.
So can we still say we are backpacking Vietnam? Or should we be telling people our travel in Vietnam is a motorcycle trip through Vietnam? We're not sure, but what we do know is, our Vietnam road trip is going to cover over 6000km's from Saigon right up to the famous waterfalls of Ban Gioc near Cao Bang, round the northern point of the Ha Giang loop and everything else we can access in between. So we hope you'll join us, the New Zealand vlogging couple, on our Vietnam adventure by clicking subscribe to join the Tribe and experience our travel in Vietnam..
