This time we are enjoying snorkel in the city of Eilat, south of Israel. Eilat has a busy port and it is a popular resort at the northern tip of the Red Sea, on the Gulf of Aqaba. Eilat is very strategic for Israel as it gives access to the Red Sea.
We enjoyed snorkel at Coral beach Nature Reserve, just a few kilometers from the border with Egypt, Taba, which gives access to the Sinai peninsula. This beach is only a strip of 1.2 kms and is the northermost shallow water coral reef in the world.

Unterwasserobservatorium Eilat (Israel) / Coral Beach Natural Reserve
Die Unterwasserwelt des Roten Meeres mit ihren zahlreichen Meeresbewohnern und des Korallen gehören mithin zu den schönsten der Welt. Das Unterwasserobservatorium im „Coral Beach Natural Reserve“ - ein im Meer stehender Turm, der 100 Meter vom Ufer entfernt ist und über einen Steg erreicht werden kann. Im Inneren geht man in eine Tiefe von sechs Metern unter dem Wasserspiegel hinunter und kann dort durch große Panoramafenster direkt am Korallenriff die Unterwasserwelt des Roten Meeres zu bewundern. Die Unterwasserwelt des Roten Meeres mit ihren zahlreichen Meeresbewohnern und den Korallen gehören mithin zu den schönsten der Welt.

Coral Beach Natural Reserve - Eilat Nov 2018
Eilat's Coral Beach Natural Reserve is only 2 hours away from Bucharest (by plane) and it's an amazing destination for a short citybreak.
We actually booked a hotel just across the street from the reef and we enjoyed the amazing Red Sea for a few days.
It's an amazing place for snorkeling, scuba diving and great food :)

Snorkeling through Eilat Coral Beach Nature Reserve
I still can't believe that this place is like 2.5 hours away from Romania and that we can snorkel and freedive in November. I am amazed by the Coral Beach Nature Reserve and the Red Sea in general. Eilat is amazing.

Mi primer contacto con el Mar Rojo. En la reserva natural de Coral Beach, en Eilat, Israel, puedes disfrutar de un arrecife de coral en una zona protegida con una abundante vida marina. Por una entrada de unos 21€ (Octubre 2018) accedes a la playa, dejas tus pertenencias en una taquilla y alquilas el equipo de snorkel (gafas, tubo y aletas). Dos muelles de madera atraviesan el arrecife de coral hasta mar abierto, y con unas cómodas escaleras te sumerges en las cálidas aguas del Mar Rojo (26ºC en Octubre). El espectáculo es maravilloso. Cientos de peces de todos los colores recorren el frente del arrecife, ajenos a los turistas. Un cordón de seguridad evita que invadas el coral protegido y lo dañes. A lo largo de casi dos kilómetros de costa puedes nadar tranquilamente contemplando el mundo submarino. Sin duda una experiencia muy gratificante.
En este primer vídeo un banco de peces cirujano marrón se alimenta de las algas adheridas al cordón de seguridad.
