Law School mooting competition finals - 2015
Students from Brunel University London took part in finals of the Law School mooting competition at the UK Supreme Court, for a second time in the last three years.
Gabrielle Laurin and Natalie Canning (appellants), and Laura Clausen and Amirah Choudhury (respondents) - all level I students at Brunel Law School - argued their cases exceptionally well before a demanding panel of judges comprising of HH Judge Jeremy Roberts (Master of the Bench, Inner Temple), who sat at the Old Bailey between 2000 and 2010, and is currently sitting on Hounslow Parole Board, Mr Stephen Barlet-Jones (Barrister, 1 Pump Court), Mr Michael Barnett (Litigation Division Managing Partner, Addleshaw Goddard), Sam Parham (Barrister, Garden Court Chambers) and Dr Dimitrios Giannoulopoulos (Associate Dean and Senior Lecturer in Law, CBASS).

A handful of Tommy Robinson supporters gathered in Glasgow on Sunday, to demand his release from prison and to voice their discontent with what they perceive as the increasing Islamisation of the Scottish city.
I feel very passionately about what is happening in Britain at the moment. The lack of freedom of speech, the pandering to the left, pandering to Islam. The Islamisation, I've seen here in Glasgow already, the Islamisation it's happening in this city. said Scott Edwards, the protest organiser.

Former English Defence League (EDL) leader, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, was found guilty last week of interfering with the trial of a sexual grooming gang at Leeds Crown Court in May 2018. The Old Bailey ruled that his Facebook Live video of defendants had breached reporting restrictions and jeopardised the trial.
He was originally jailed for 13 months on the day of the Facebook broadcast, but was released two months into his sentence after winning his appeal. The case was then referred to the Attorney General Geoffrey Cox who opted to bring fresh proceedings against him, which resulted in Robinson's conviction for a further nine months.

Shocking CCTV footage shows violent road rage mass brawl
Shocking video footage reveals a road rage accident spiralling out of control in to a mass brawl on a quiet suburban street. The video shows a white Volkswagen Golf smashing into the rear-end of a black hatchback on a small road in Keighley, Yorks. Neighbours can be seen flocking to the street to see what all the fuss is about - before they too get involved in the escalating road rage brawl. It escalates when the two men take the arms of the white Volkswagen driver and start throwing punches at him before he falls.

Aaron Campbell gets life in prison for raping and killing Alesha MacPhail, 6
Aaron Campbell, 16, was sentenced for the twisted abduction, rape and murder of six-year-old Alesha MacPhail.
Campbell told her he was 'taking her home' as he carried her away to her death.
Aaron Campbell, 16, took Alesha from her bed on the Isle of Bute in Scotland before leading her into woodland and carrying out the horrific sex attack.
Campbell admitted the rape and murder for the first time ahead of being sentenced for his sickening crimes today.
Details of his confession were read to the court, in which he said Alesha had woken up in his arms as he carried her away from her family's holiday home at 2am.
He told the tragic six-year-old he was a friend of her dad's and 'taking her home' before removing her clothing and subjecting her to a prolonged ordeal which left her with 117 injuries.
The cold-hearted killer then smothered her to death and dumped her body.
Sentencing Campbell to a life jail term, with a minimum of 27 years, Judge Lord Matthews said: Your attitude was clearly demonstrated by the image you posted in a mirror while joking you had found the killer.
Your arrogance was breathtaking. Not once during the trial did I detect a flicker of emotion from you…”

Youth pulls knife during South London street fight
Terrifying footage captures the moment a youth on a bike pulls a large knife on a motorist in broad during the middle of the day. The footage shows two men exiting a black Volkswagen in Streatham, London, on October 18 before an argument occurs with two youths on bicycles in the middle of the road and one of the cyclists pulls out a large knife. The incident follows the release of new figures showing that the number of murders in the UK has soared by 14 per cent and knife crime by 12 per cent.

The Arc Bar Brawl in Headingley, Leeds - Daily Mail
This huge fight broke out in a pub in Leeds. The Arc Bars staff and security were unable to stop the groups of men from kicking and punching each other. Police are investigating the case.

'Brutal' CCTV shows man's throat slashed at pub before international manhunt
The family of a murder victim have allowed graphic footage of their son’s last moments to be released to warn about the dangers of knife crime.
Shane O’Brien went on to become Britain’s most wanted man after he slashed the neck of 21-year-old Josh Hanson in a bar in west London. O’Brien then chartered a private plane before spending three and a half years on the run.
Police launched an international manhunt but O'Brien, 31, continued to evade the police until he was arrested in Romania and brought back to Britain in April.
