Butterfly Farm Stratford on Avon, England | Kids day out | Travel |
We visited the Butterfly Farm at Stratford on Avon, it looked really good fun on the website, so we made the most of a sunny day out. Butterflies fly around your head in the 'Flight Area' and can land on you if you look like a tree, although you aren't supposed to encourage them to or touch them! There are also other areas to wander around and see plants suitable for butterflies and how to attract them into your garden. There are also some glass tanks in two rooms with creepy crawlies, and snakes, Eeeeek! If you plan to visit it's very warm for obvious reasons and very noisy as not only are there fans and heaters on, but also a waterfall in the centre. If you have children who don't like noise, take some ear defenders, I tried to talk to camera and it was pointless. Parking is easy, if you use a satnav or google maps there are carparks next door and opposite. There is no cafe on site, but you can take food and eat it in the garden at the front. If you want a coffee I suggest you walk over the road and head into town crossing over the river on the pedestrian bridge and just the other side is Cox's Yard and The Pantry. There are lots more cafes in Stratford town centre.

Swan Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon:
The Swan Theatre is a theatre belonging to the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon, England. It is built on to the side of the larger Royal Shakespeare Theatre, occupying the Victorian Gothic structure that formerly housed the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre that preceded the RST but was destroyed by fire in 1926.
Trevor Nunn and Terry Hands were joint artistic directors of the RSC when the company opened The Swan. Designed by Michael Reardon, it has a deep thrust stage, and is a galleried, intimate auditorium holding around 450 people.
Stratford-upon-Avon:
A medieval market town in England’s West Midlands, is the 16th-century birthplace of William Shakespeare. Possibly the most famous writer in the English language, Shakespeare is known for his sonnets and plays such as 'Romeo and Juliet' and 'Hamlet'. The Royal Shakespeare Company performs his plays in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and adjacent Swan Theatre on the banks of the River Avon.
