Cradle Mountain - Wild Tasmania - Ep. 1
Cradle Mountain in Tasmania, one of the coolest looking mountains out there and an amazing climb. We hiked in the first afternoon to stay at the Scott Kilver hut and back tracked the second day around the mountain to the Overland Track to do the summit on our way out. Hanson's peak was our favorite view point (aside from the summit of course).

Horse Riding Cradle Mountain Tasmania Australia
For more information & to book:
Cradle Mountain Horse Riding -- The Speeler Plain ride
Our riders are offered the unique opportunity of horseriding through the spectacular Vale of Belvoir conservation area, right on the edge of the Cradle Mountain World Heritage Area. We pick you up from your Cradle Mountain accommodation or the visitors centre and take you to the stables at the base of the Speeler Plain where you will be fitted out with helmets and boots prior to a safety briefing and introduction to your horse.
Your ride climbs up through the changing mix of Alpine Eucalypt and Myrtle Forest to the button grass plains at the top of The Speeler Plain.
This is the view of Cradle Mountain, Barn Bluff, Western Bluff, Mt Roland and Black Bluff.
This is the most spectacular vista available to our guests without having to do some serious bushwalking!
Even more importantly the only people you share it with are your horse, your guide and a maximum of four other guests!
Whilst all our horses have a personality, their main attribute is their love for people. Just like their clients our horses come in all shapes, sizes and colours and we don't care if they are well behaved mares or well behaved geldings, as long as they are well behaved!

Winter at Cradle Mountain
I spent 4 days hiking and camping in the snow in and around Cradle Mountain. On 2 of the days I had blue skies whilst the other days were somewhat inclement to say the least. The whole area was covered in a mantle of snow which made the whole landscape quite magical. I was treated to a rather special sunrise on Barn Bluff as well as a sunset on Cradle Mountain. One of the best trips I have had weather wise to this magical area and I have no doubt that I will keep returning in the future. In my view winter is the best time to visit the area especially after a heavy dumping of snow !!

Tali Karng - Alpine National Park, Victoria Australia, March 2011
Beginning and ending in misty fog far above the quiet town of Licola. This is our Hiking trip to the only natural lake in the Victorian Alps.
What I didn't capture in this video (possibly impossible to capture anyway) was our mini adventure up the never ending waterfalls at the Eastern side of the lake. Absolutely amazing!
Thanks to the traditional Aboriginal owners of the place (Gunai Kurnai), who let us visit, even though they aren't even allowed to go there themselves!

Backcountry Skiing Tasmania: High Camp on Cradle Mountain (August 2019)
Aiming for a narrow weather window, Shaun and I headed to Cradle Mountain for an overnight jaunt, hoping that the northern chutes (visible from the Dove Lake carpark) would be in good condition.
They weren't. And the weather window was far narrower than we had anticipated. Nevertheless, we made camp just below the summit and witnessed a truly spectacular sunrise, followed by a couple of short runs down the east face. The glorious weather turned to not-so-glorious weather by mid-morning so we skied down most of the regular ascent track, skinned back across Cradle Plateau and skied the chute off Marion's Lookout until the vegetation-to-snow ratio got a bit too ridiculous.

Launceston to Cradle Mountain - Tasmania road trip vlog 3 - 15 Aug 2016
Road Trip vlog on 15th Aug 2016. We started from Launceston after stayed a night at the Country Club Tasmania. The goal was to reach Cradle Mountian that night. The night before left many roads covered in ice, we had to change our route a couple to time, which left me a bit worried if we can successful reach Cradle Mountain in time.

LAKE SIDE NATIONAL PARK Victoria Aus
The Lakes National Park is a bushland reserve bordered on three sides by Lakes. We explored the area on bicycle, covering 33 km along gravel Lake Side Tracks. Checked out Lake Reeve Nature Trail featuring the Lookout Tower
with magnificent views of the Gippsland Lakes system. Rode via Lake Victoria Track through sandy bush trails .. with many soft patches , 10km of the track (after Emu Bight Camping area) is signed 4WD only. It was a rugged tough ride with lots of pushing. The peaceful bushland picnic area at Point Wilson Jetty was a most welcomed sight. We returned to the carpark Via the better but very corrugated gravel Lake Reeve Road.

Cradle Mountain Dove Lake
Paul and I took a helicopter flight a few weeks ago over the Cradle Mountain and Dove Lake Mountain area of the Tasmanian high country yesterday. It was well worth it. We had chosen to spend our 20 year anniversary in a log cabin in this mystical high country, where we had a view of Cradle Mountain from bed. This little video is a bit rough but it gives you an idea about how special this area is. Unfortunately a few days after we took this flight wild bush fires swept through the area and did much damage.
Hiking in the Rocky Mountains of Tasmania, new GPS and Water Purifier Review
Hiking in the rocky mountains of southern Tasmania. We are very glad to show off the Garmin Epix GPS watch that we've been using since December 2016, we no longer use the Suunto Ambit that you may have seen in our older videos. The Epix is a very tough and reliable mapping and navigation tool. There is no other watch in the world with full colour touch screen mapping. The new Garmin Fenix 5X also has full topography map capabilities but it doesn't have touch screen. Garmin's Epix and Fenix 5X watches have a vast amount of functions, it takes quite some time to become proficient with this as a mapping tool ;)
MSR GUARDIAN 6:00
We are still in the process of learning about the MSR Guardian water purifier, we have discovered the cause and solution for the leak mentioned and have now successfully used the Guardian to purify some pretty dirty water :) We will be talking more about this device in future videos.
LOCATION NAMES
0:01 The mountain that you see in the still shot at the beginning is The Acropolis, located in the Lake St Clair-Cradle Mountain National Park. At 0:56 we are at the top of another nearby peak called The Parthenon. The campsite at 1:20 is close to Wughalee Falls in the Tasman National Park, at 7:22 we reach the peak of Cape Pillar called 'Chasm Lookout'.
