Dar Al-Athar al-Islamiyyah celebrates International Museum Day which is celebrated annually on the 18th of May. This day provides the opportunity for Museums to raise awareness on how important museums are in the development of society.The International Museum Day was celebrated at the Amricani Cultural Centre. A number of activities were hosted by the centre that kept everyone fully entertained during the entire day. Activities included Exhibition tours, Face painting, Henna tattooing, Graffiti boards, Face photo cutout stands, impromptu Flash music performances and other special children's activities.

Photographer Bret Webster holds workshop at Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyyah in Kuwait
Organized & Funded by the US Embassy in Kuwait &, talented and well respected photographer Bret Webster held a three day workshop. Webster has a unique style that allows him to capture nature in fresh and beautiful ways. His photographs have appeared in National Geographic magazine, the Smithsonian Institution, NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day and many others.
One of his most satisfying achievements is being able to participate and contribute to the Art in Embassies program with his images going to the U.S. Ambassador's residence in Kuwait and others that have now been shipped to Tunisia for a similar application. Bret's over-arching personal mission statement is generally --It's a privilege and a joy to share in the adoration of our universe and the beauty of our existence.
The $120M Rio Tinto Natural History Museum of Utah which opened in November 2011 uses his Ghost Panel Night (and other images) as one of their signature images on correspondence and advertising and a special manufacturing of that image was made for the new museum so the image now hangs ~20 feet tall at the intersection of the Astronomy and Native People's areas of the museum.
Bret also is a career Chemical Engineer and is currently Co-Chairman of the Advisory Board for the University of Utah - College of Engineering. His wife -- RaNae and his four children -- Karen, Amber, Wilson and Jenna all share his passion for natural beauty and the canyon desert.

Dar al Athar al Islamiyyah (DAI) is a cultural organisation based around the private art collection owned by Sheikh Nasser Sabah al Ahmad al Sabah, founder of The al Sabah Collection and his wife, DAI director general and co-founder Sheikha Hussa Sabah al Salem al Sabah. Since its inception in 1983, DAI has grown from a single focus organisation created to manage the loan of the prestigious al Sabah Collection of art from the Islamic world to the State of Kuwait to become an internationally recognised cultural organisation.
Growth hasn’t been limited to the role of the organisation, as the owners continue to foster the development of the collection, ensuring that all media and techniques are included. As such, the collection preserves and presents all aspects of art, including extraordinary manuscripts, scientific instruments, carpets, jewellery, ceramic, metalwork, wood and glass. It now includes more than 30,000 pieces from the full geographic and chronological range of the Islamic world, from Spain to China, from the 1st – 13th centuries AH/7th – 19th centuries AD.

International journalists continue to tour different monumental locations in Kuwait, as final preparations for the 3rd Africa-Arab Summit are being set.

Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyah celebrated the premier documentary film and book 'Mystic journey to the Ancient East' at the Amricani cultural centre. The art film has been directed by Yarub Bo-Rahma and authored by Aqeel Yousef Eidan and Mais Khalid al-Othman.
The new production presents part of the unique collection of Al-Sabah Group in a different way which explained in means of poetry and prose in order to highlight the value of findings gathered from diverse sites around the world.
