Don was 2 weeks shy of his 70th birthday.
I was expecting to hear the voice of a 70 year old.
Instead, I heard a melodic silky voice that has improved with age.
I apologize for the unsteadiness - my arm was getting sore & tired,
as you can imagine that I took several previous videos and pictures of him.
By the end of this 10 minute + song my right arm was burning, as I had to hold the video camera elevated and not anchored to my chest, so as to not get the heads of people in the 2 rows ahead of me.
Next time, I'll take my monopod.
There are times when I was zooming the camera to his left hand on the frets.
I wanted to get a close-up of Don's famous left thumb, that was painted with the American Flag on the front cover of the his American Pie album.
Thank you Mr. McLean, for a perfect evening spent with the best musician, pitch perfect singer and song writer - ever -
all wrapped up in one package.
