I bet you thought Niagara Falls was Canada's highest waterfall. But you are mistaken! It's Della Falls located in the middle of nowhere on Vancouver Island. This is home to a wonderful 3 days backpacking trip.

We hiked into the wilderness about 16km to make camp in a beautiful mountain valley for 2 nights. From there it was a 1km hike to Della Falls, and a steep 4km hike to Love Lake.

1st Neck Point (Nanaimo BC) Scouts are planning a year end trip to Della Falls 2013. Two leaders (and son's) completed the trip as a recii expedition to make sure its suitable for the group of scouts. This is the video prepared to show what was found. The group plans to make a short film of the scout troop preparing and completing the expedition.

Welcome to our first episode of our chasing waterfalls series where we take you to the best waterfalls close to Victoria BC on Vancouver Island. Our first destination is Niagara Falls in Goldstream Provincial Park about a 25 minute drive outside of downtown Victoria. It is also possible to take a bus from downtown Victoria all the way out to Goldstream. That trip with transfers will take you almost 2 hours if you have the time. If you choose to go later in the day, after 3 pm, expect rush hour traffic as it leaves the city as well.
The hike itself is super easy 1.3 km round trip. When I say super easy, I wouldn't take aging parents who struggle with balance and I wouldn't say it is wheelchair accessible, but I think most people will be able to handle this short hike. It is mostly flat trails and in dry season you can walk along the stones of the river bed without any elevation like we did today. You walk under the highway through the tunnel
The falls look incredibly different depending on the season. We have just come out of our driest month of the year, July. I can only remember one day of rain in the last few months. We will come back and show you Niagara Falls in the winter and you will see that the river bed we walked across will be completely filled with water and we will have to walk along the side path.

Hi again and welcome to another video on photographing waterfalls on Vancouver Island. Watch as I hike and photograph Lower Myra Falls in Strathcona Provincial Park. Myra Falls is what I consider, one of the best falls on the Island, it is one of my favorites. It has several cascading waterfalls, a great spot to go swimming, and if you're the adventures type with a little work, you can climb down the hill to the lake to take pictures. I recommend visiting Myra Falls if you are in the Strathcona Park area.

We flew to Great Central Lake in a floateplane and hiked to Della Falls and Back.

Hiking Vancouver Island, might I suggest you try Triple Falls. Be careful read the map closely as there is more than one way to get to Triple Falls on Vancouver Island. If your looking the best route, you need to park at the cul-de-sac at the end of Sierra Rd in Errington once there follow the narrow trail until it joins a wider track Keep to your far right when the wider track splits You will be entering a Private Property area and pass a small building on your right-hand side
Continue walking down the hill for 10 – 15 minutes to the first set of falls (which, as mentioned above, is off a trail to your left)
