6201 Princess Elizabeth and The Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant
I really wanted to start this video with a shot of the life-sized figure of the Queen, standing outside a cottage in Cholsey, waving to her subjects, but, sadly, there wasn't time to film it.
Instead, we cut straight to the action with the good people of Tackley lining the platforms of their local station to wave to 6201 Princess Elizabeth as she raced through at the head of the Solihull to Kensington Olympia; The Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant.
From Tackley, it was down to Cholsey, with one camera on the station and the other by the church. The non-LMS whistle that can be heard in the distance is Ivor The Engine, which was standing in the bay platform at Cholsey, but as 6201 was on the up main, it was not possible to catch the two locos together.
A quick dash up the M4 brought us to Chiswick for a third runpast.
Having dropped the passengers at Olympia, and stabled the stock somewhere near Wembley, 6201 ran to Clapham Junction to turn, pausing on Cremorne Bridge to salute Her Majesty, and to signal the start of the pageant. Determined not to miss this historic event, we walked a total of four miles, carrying two cameras and a tripod, to get the shot.
In the evening, we went to Olympia to see the start of the homeward run, before racing to Sunningdale. Somewhere between these two points, 6201 had lost time and was put behind a Reading bound local, leading to a signal check around Longcross and a more spirited passing of Sunningdale than one usually sees.

I think this is a sign of the love our town has for the rest of the world.

STORYLINE
Four hundred years after William Shakespeare's star-cross'd lovers Romeo and Juliet swore each other eternal love in the Italian town of Verona, a marriage was celebrated for the first time on Mondayin what is believed to be the house of Juliet's family, the Capulets in the universally known play.
Popular folklore identifies Shakespeare's fictional characters with Verona's noble family Del Cappellos, who owned the building since the thirteenth century, hence the legend saying that the balcony of the small palace located in the historical centre of the town is the one from which Juliet vows her eternal love for Romeo in Shakespeare's play.
The marriage is the launch of an initiative by Verona's municipal authorities called Marry me in Verona, giving couples the chance to celebrate marriages in several historical sites in the town.
The project is aimed at relaunching the town as an even wider tourist attraction, allowing marriages both for Italian and foreign citizens in sites such as Juliet's house and Juliet's tomb and the Sala Arazzi in front of the Arena of Verona.
Mayor Flavio Tosi says the ceremonies will be affordable for anyone as the cost of marrying in one of those sites would only be a few hundred euros.
He said the main goal of the municipality is to increase income from the new waves of tourism attracted from around the world by the chance of celebrating a marriage in what is considered to be the town symbolising eternal love.
Requests are coming from several countries, including the United States and Japan, the mayor said.

Fifty Years Since The End of Southern Steam - A Review (Part 1)
With 34053, 34081, 34092 and 35006 all returning to Southern metals at the same time, our original intention was to make a video that captured as many Bulleid pacifics as possible, complete with an on-screen running total. It soon became clear, however, that the series of events and tours to mark the 50th anniversary of the end of Southern steam added up to far more than this. What we've ended up with is a video (split into two parts) that, we hope, contains a bit of everything. In this, the first part, we cover the Mid-Hants Summer Gala on the 2nd of July, and Clan Line on the Bournemouth Belle on the 5th. Clan Line is seen at Worting Junction and again between Brockenhurst and Sway. We then spend time at Corfe Castle and Norden with 34070 Manston before picking up Clan Line again near Totton, moving on to Overton, and ending in the new car park at Brookwood.
Part two will feature the End of Southern Steam Weekend at the Bluebell Railway, 34052 Lord Dowding on The End of Southern Steam, 35028 Clan Line on the Waterloo Sunset and the Swanage Railway Southern Sunrise mini-gala.
So far the Bulleid count stands at ten, being:
34007 Wadebridge
34046/34052 Braunton/Lord Dowding
34053 Sir Keith Park
34058 Sir Frederick Pile
34081 92 Squadron
35006 Peninsular & Oriental S. N. Co.
35005 Canadian Pacific (Cab only)
34105 Swanage
35028 Clan Line
34070 Manston

Stratford Literary Festival 2011- Colin Dexter Highlights
Colin Dexter is a crime fiction grandee. He started writing mysteries in 1972 during a family holiday in North Wales. 'The children were moaning ... I was sitting at the kitchen table with nothing else to
do, and I wrote the first few paragraphs of a potential detective novel.'
Last Bus to Woodstock was published in 1975 and introduced the world to the character of Inspector Morse, the irascible detective whose penchants for cryptic crosswords, English literature, cask ale and Wagner reflect Dexter's own enthusiasms. The success of the 33 episodes of the TV series Inspector Morse, produced between 1987 and 2001, brought further acclaim for Dexter. In the manner of Alfred Hitchcock, he also makes a cameo appearance in almost all episodes. He has won many awards for his novels including the CWA Gold Dagger and Silver Dagger awards. In 1997 he was presented with the CWA Cartier Diamond Dagger Award for outstanding services to crime literature. Colin's thirteenth and final Inspector Morse novel, The Remorseful Day, was published
in 1999. He will be taking us on a highly entertaining journey with Morse, From Book To Box.
