In Peru, the headwaters of the Amazon River cut through the Andes Mountains and help sustain resident communities as well as the most diverse ecosystem on Earth. As the energy demands of Peru increase, the currently free flowing Marañón River faces over 20 proposed dam projects, two of which have already been approved. Our international team of scientists and river experts spent 28 days rafting the Marañón while documenting the natural and cultural resources that would be eminently impacted by proposed dam projects.

During 2 months on an unbelievable journey, he climbed a different mountain every 5 days, either wearing a kitchen apron, taking dangerous shortcuts, or sewing his own stitches.
Maximo Kausch has overcome robbery, avalanches and bone fractures in search of a world record: to reach the top of all 12 mountains above 6,000m in the Andes with his adapted Mad Max-like motorbike.

Had a great couple of days in Mendoza, Argentina and now it is time to go back over the Andes mountains to Chile. Instead of the main road into Mendoza we are taking Ruta 52 north from the Argentine city through Villavicencio to Uspallata. I was expecting twisties but I wasn't expecting offroad bliss, one of the best rides ever! The Mendozinas just had bend after bend while going higher and higher. Over 350 bends I've been told. Did not have this much fun in a long time and it was the first time really putting Alp to the test since the motorcycle rebuild. During my riding high I take a moment to try and explain why I love what I do and how things have changed over the years on the road. Ruta Provincial 52 was amazing on motorcycle. After I leave Argentina and I'm back in Chile in the Andes. I take the never ending winding twisty offroad up to the top of the Paso Internacional Los Libertadores. There I find Cristo Redentor, a statue of Jesus, also called Christ the Redeemer of the Andes. Here Chile and Argentina meet and I've got an amazing view of the mountain tops. Altitude over 4000 meters and I'm quite literally high on life. It was a good day.

My name is Pedro Mota and I ride my trusty Honda Transalp motorcycle around the world. Me and Alp have been on the road now for over two years and have ridden through over thirty countries. This motorcycle adventure has taken us through Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia, Russia, East Asia, Australia and South America. Meet great people, see extraordinary places. Join me on this motorbike ride around the world and experience life on the road.
[S2 - Eps. 41] My motorcycle and me are boiling in the desert in Argentina
In this episode I am riding through a desert in Argentina and temperatures are soaring. The road is not easy and the hostel is closed - it wasn't one of my best days but that's also part of long distance motorcycle riding!

In this episode I am riding from Copiapo in Chile, to Fiambala in Argentina. I am crossing over the Paso San Francisco, above 4700 meters altitude. Right after the pass, I catch some bad weather!
But that doesn't spoil this fantastic motorcycle ride across the Andes!

[S2 - Eps. 47] Can somebody please explain me THIS?
In this episode I am riding a shorter ride from Fiambala to Belen in Argentina. My intentions are to see some sights along the way such as a 18th century church and pre-Inca ruins but I am not very successful! Luckily, I managed to see a Catholic procession in Belen that evening which was interesting to watch.
