Photography Courses in Melbourne - djb photography school
In this video I talk about the four different photography courses in Melbourne at the djb photography school! Every one of our photography courses teaches you how to use your camera in manual mode. Have you ever wondered why your photographs appear too dark or too bright? This is because your camera’s auto mode is “metering” the light without understanding what YOU want to do with the photograph. It makes a mathematic calculation and acts on that. You’ll learn about how to control it so you can see how it affects your photograph. No more blurry images or missing that gorgeous sunset because your stupid camera doesn’t get it.
More importantly, you’ll learn how to use your digital camera in manual mode. Over time we’ve nearly perfected our manual mode teaching philosophy. In fact, its simplicity is something we’re quite proud of. You’ll learn about shutter speed, aperture, ISO and controlling the light with your camera. Our photography courses in melbourne are constantly evolving as we discover new hidden photographic hot spots, join us and capture your own unique photographs!
TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY COURSE MELBOURNE
LANEWAYS, ROOFTOPS AND STREET ART
We’ve spent countless hours on the streets of Melbourne discovering secret laneways, rooftops and ever changing street art. You’ll be taken to some of coolest “off the beaten track” photographic hot spots in town… Google wont even find you. Shhhhhhhh, keep these locations on a secret. You will learn about how to use your camera with a minimal amount of gear. Travel photography is all about being discreet and thinking quickly.
STREET PHOTOGRAPHY COURSE
MELBOURNE ESSENTIALS
There’s a few things you just HAVE to photograph in our city, and this course hit’s most of them. It’s an all round winner to enjoy Melbourne’s iconic photographic hot spots. We’ll also take you to our favourite place to capture a smmmmmashing sunset over Melbourne. It’s really really ridiculously good looking. Street photography is about finding interesting subjects, capturing the moment and being discreet. This goes hand in hand with our travel photography course!
NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY COURSE
ROOFTOPS, ARCHITECTURE AND LIGHT PAINTING
Photograph Melbourne’s most iconic hot spots at night. Including our secret night photography rooftop and the most beautiful bridge in Melbourne. We’ll take you to the best vantage points to make the most out of this alluring city. Long exposures, light painting, and how to use your tripod like a legend :)
LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY COURSE
OCEAN BEACHES, LIGHTHOUSES, BLURRY WATER AND TRIPODS
We’ll teach you exactly how to create blurry, cloud like water with long exposures, and how to capture a perfect golden sunset over Melbourne’s hidden coastline. Landscape photography essentials – People watching, landscapes and a sunset by the sea :) You need this one.

Lightroom Workshops Australia, August and September 2017! Melbourne, Sydney, Perth.
Join the invite list here: Hi guys! Daniel here. In August and September I’ll be running 3-6 Adobe Lightroom Workshops in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth. This will be the first time since 2012 that I’ve run the workshops in person (as opposed to online only). I have a huge amount of new material to share with you! You’ll learn everything I know about professional photographic post production in one day.
For those of you who don’t know me, my name’s Daniel, I’m a photographer, founder of the djb photography school, I’ve been featured on the cover of National Geographic Traveller magazine, I’ve photographed weddings all over the world and ad campaigns for fashion labels around Australia.
Check out my work and join the invite list here:
Since 2007 I’ve spent my life learning about Adobe Lightroom. You will learn everything I currently know in one workshop, and most importantly – what I wish I knew when I started. You’ll learn how to use Lightroom to manage and organise all of your photographs, how to develop you RAW files with authenticity, and the four big mistakes I’ve made in my photography career. You’ll learn what NOT to do. You’ll also learn EXACTLY how to deconstruct each image in the slideshow above and use these same techniques on your own photographs.
You will be given my personal Lightroom preset which I apply to every single photograph I take. This is not something I’ve developed overnight, it’s be evolving since 2007. You will be shown how to use it on each individual image. There is no magic bullet one hit wonder preset. A preset is merely the first stage in my 6 stage development process.
Photographers will generally keep their post production techniques a secret. I call this the black box of photography. I’ll be revealing every single part of my workflow and development process, all of my secrets.
I’ve designed this workshop to give you results. Not only will it save you the time and effort that I’ve spent learning about post production, you’ll be taught HOW to learn photography using Lightroom. This workshop is not a user guide, it’s much more than that. If you’re after general information and “how to’s” – youtube is awesome. If you want results – I’ll teach you how to get them.
Who is this for?
Beginner and intermediate level photographers. I’ve personally designed this workshop to build your post production skills the right way, from the ground up. A fresh pair of eyes just means you wont have any bad habits! And you’ll be able avoid costly mistakes by learning from mine. The content in this workshop contains everything I wish I knew when I started digital photography.
Who is this NOT for?
If you’re already familiar with post production and have been using Lightroom for some time, this workshop is not for you. While I’m sure the content would give you a new perspective on post production, and probably plug a few gaps in your knowledge, you wouldn’t be getting the absolute most of out it. I much prefer my students to be open minded, engaged and motivated throughout the entire process rather than undertaking the workshop half heartedly.
Workshop Details:
$399 AUD per student. One day hands on workshop.
10 Students per class.
Melbourne – August 12 & 19, Sydney – August 26 & 27, Perth – September 2 & 3.

Vlog 12: Sydney in a Nutshell: A Photo Walk
#Australia
In this episode, I make my way to Milson's Point before sunrise for some photography of Sydney entailing all three elements: the skyline, the Opera House, and the Harbor Bridge. There was a thunderstorm going on when I first started out from my hotel, but things got interesting pretty quickly as I approached my destination for the morning.
