R1200GS on Magoebaskloof Pass | Tzaneen Adventure Part 3
Having fun with a small Honda four-wheeler and shredding Magoebaskloof Pass on the 1200GS. Even had some competition riding up the pass with a CB1000 and a MT10.
Africa's Cowboy Capitalists (Full Length)
For maverick entrepreneur Ian Cox, Africa is the last frontier of free enterprise. The former small-time hustler has been busting his ass on the continent for years, selling and moving merchandise. In 2012 he nabbed a lucrative United Nations contract to transport equipment from South Africa to South Sudan, a country on many countries' embargo list. The other problem: the journey north entails passing through countless checkpoints and dealing with bribe-happy officials and their nonsensical paperwork and regulations.
Photographer and filmmaker Tim Freccia followed around Ian and the guys he hired for this job. Cowboy Capitalists documents their attempts to navigate the continent's dangerous roads and bureaucratic chaos.

From Johannesburg to Zanzibar, 5500 kms across South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi and Tanzania. . This bike tour is within everyone's reach, routed almost exclusively on tarmac. The exception is a couple of legs where the tarmac is in African condition, although never too difficult for any average motorcyclist, even with a pillion rider. All nights are spent in top-class hotels except for a couple where no alternatives exist in the area. The legs are around 350/400 kilometres per day with 4 sizeable rest stops in enchanting places and hotels: Kruger National Park, Victoria Falls, Lake Malawi, Mikumi National Park, Zanzibar.

Kubu Island
Kubu Island is a dry granite rock island located in the Makgadikgadi Pan area of Botswana. The island is located a few kilometers away from Orapa and Letlhakane mining towns and can be accessed through Mmatshumo in the Boteti district. The entire island is a national monument, and is considered a sacred site by the indigenous people of the area.
It is accessible by four wheel drive vehicle and has basic camping facilities. The campsite is run for the benefit of the local population.
The Makgadikgadi Pan is a large salt pan in northern Botswana, the largest salt flat complex in the world. These salt pans cover approximately 16,000 sq km and form the bed of the ancient Lake Makgadikgadi that began evaporating millennia ago.
The name Kubu means either large rock in Kalanga language or hippopotamus in Tswana. Local Khoe people call the site Ga'nnyo. Archaeological recovery in the Makgadikgadi has revealed the presence of prehistoric humans through abundant finds of stone tools; some of these tools have been dated sufficiently early to establish their origin as earlier than the era of Homo sapiens. The island contains also dry stone walling which is up to 1.25 m high and 344 circular stone cairns.

Official Opening of Africa Bike Week
Africa Bike Week - Harley Davidson
At the recent Africa Bike Week held by Harley Davidson in Margate a biker was really lucky if they got an autograph signature by Bill Davidson the great grandson of Harley Davidson.
William J. Bill Davidson, Vice President of the Harley-Davidson Museum Bill says he is proud to work with the talented team that manages one of the largest corporate archival collections of unrestored Harley-Davidson motorcycles and artifacts in the world. As the Museum's top executive, Davidson is responsible for overseeing its overall business including marketing communications, special event activities and daily operations.
Davidson, the great-grandson of founder William A. Davidson and the son of William G. Willie G. Davidson, Chief Styling Officer Emeritus, started riding motorcycles at the age of seven. He joined the company in 1984 and held various leadership positions before taking on his current role. Throughout his 28-year career with the company, Davidson has focused on strengthening the Harley-Davidson brand and relationships with riders around the world.
Davidson lives in the Milwaukee area and earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
He has a girlfriends Michelle who also rides and 2 sons. Bill says he loves kids.
On the Sunday morning at the mass ride Bill was kind enough to do an impromptu autograph session. He had done one on Saturday for the HOG members at Ocean Basket where he handed out photo, met members and signed whatever the member presented. However the impromptu session was more special as clubs actually got to meet the hero. The session took about 30 minutes with waistcoats and jeans been signed.
Bill and Michelle then led the mass ride through the street of Shelly and along the coastal road to Port Shepstone and back again. Bill commented that he loves Africa and may even want to settle here.
This Africa Bike Week was the 3rd year of a 5 year contract that is automatically renewable should both parties agree. The Mayores believes that Africa Bike Week unifies the community and brings much needed investment. She would like to join Harley Davidson by buying a bike.
www . bikers . co . za is proud to have captured a 22 minute video of 35km of Harley's one after the other in the mass ride and thanks Greater Than Marketing for their input as well as Clearwater Harley Davidson for their professional rider Dave.

Horsepower vs Torque - A Simple Explanation
What's The Difference Between Horsepower & Torque?
Why Is Peak Acceleration At Peak Power?
Subscribe for new videos every Wednesday! -
Awesome Car Products:
Which is better, horsepower or torque? Two words that are often stated in the car community, but often misunderstood. This video seeks to clarify the difference between the two, without silly analogies like horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take it with you (which, by the way, is highly inaccurate).
Torque is a force acting at a radius, while horsepower simply incorporates time into the equation. This video will discuss the differences, how each applies to internal combustion engines, how they relate, what peak torque and peak horsepower actually mean, and how to analyze torque and horsepower curves. Finally, what's more important for acceleration, a car with lots of power, or lots of torque?
Let's get technical. With the context of an engine: Power = Torque x Angular Velocity. In imperial units, this translates to Horsepower = Torque x RPM / 5252.

Right- and left-hand traffic
The terms right-hand traffic and left-hand traffic refer to regulations requiring all bidirectional traffic, unless otherwise directed, to keep either to the right or the left side of the road, respectively. This is so fundamental to traffic flow that it is sometimes referred to as the rule of the road. This basic rule improves traffic flow and reduces the risk of head-on collisions. Today, about 65% of the world's population live in countries with right-hand traffic and 35% in countries with left-hand traffic. About 90% of the world's total road distance carries traffic on the right and 10% on the left.

SUMMARY
=======
The South African Border War, also known as the Namibian War of Independence, and sometimes denoted in South Africa as the Angolan Bush War, was a largely asymmetric conflict that occurred in Namibia (then South West Africa), Zambia, and Angola from 26 August 1966 to 21 March 1990. It was fought between the South African Defence Force (SADF) and the People's Liberation Army of Namibia (PLAN), an armed wing of the South West African People's Organisation (SWAPO). The South African Border War resulted in some of the largest battles on the African continent since World War II and was closely intertwined with the Angolan Civil War.
Following several decades of unsuccessful petitioning through the United Nations and the International Court of Justice for Namibian independence, SWAPO formed the PLAN in 1962 with material assistance from the Soviet Union, the People's Republic of China, and sympathetic African states such as Tanzania, Ghana, and Algeria. Fighting broke out between PLAN and the South African authorities in August 1966. Between 1975 and 1988 the SADF staged massive conventional raids into Angola and Zambia to eliminate PLAN's forward operating bases. It also deployed specialist counter-insurgency units such as Koevoet and 32 Battalion trained to carry out external reconnaissance and track guerrilla movements.South African tactics became increasingly aggressive as the conflict progressed. The SADF's incursions produced Angolan casualties and occasionally resulted in severe collateral damage to economic installations regarded as vital to the Angolan economy. Ostensibly to stop these raids, but also to disrupt the growing alliance between the SADF and the National Union for the Total Independence for Angola (UNITA), which the former was arming with captured PLAN equipment, the Soviet Union backed the People's Armed Forces of Liberation of Angola (FAPLA) through a large contingent of military advisers and up to four billion dollars' worth of modern defence technology in the 1980s. Beginning in 1984, regular Angolan units under Soviet command were confident enough to confront the SADF. Their positions were also bolstered by thousands of Cuban troops. The state of war between South Africa and Angola briefly ended with the short-lived Lusaka Accords, but resumed in August 1985 as both PLAN and UNITA took advantage of the ceasefire to intensify their own guerrilla activity, leading to a renewed phase of FAPLA combat operations culminating in the Battle of Cuito Cuanavale. The South African Border War was virtually ended by the Tripartite Accord, mediated by the United States, which committed to a withdrawal of Cuban and South African military personnel from Angola and South West Africa, respectively. PLAN launched its final guerrilla campaign in late March 1989. South West Africa received formal independence as the Republic of Namibia a year later, on 21 March 1990.Despite being largely fought in neighbouring states, the South African Border War had a phenomenal cultural and political impact on South African society. The country's apartheid government devoted considerable effort towards presenting the war as part of a containment programme against regional Soviet expansionism and used it to stoke public anti-communist sentiment. It remains an integral theme in contemporary South African literature at large and Afrikaans-language works in particular, having given rise to a unique genre known as grensliteratuur (directly translated border literature).

Why California's Musical Road Sounds Terrible
In Lancaster, California, there's a musical road. When you drive over it, it plays the William Tell Overture. Unfortunately, it's out of tune. Here's why.
Thanks to David Simmons-Duffin, who figured this out about nine years ago: -- he seems to be the first to have figured out not just that it's wrong, but exactly what happened!
