Pulau Payar - Tourist Attractions in Malaysia
Pulau Payar is one of the many islands off mainland Kedah in the Strait of Malacca. It is situated south of Langkawi, a more famous archipelago. Pulau Payar's status as a marine park offers protection for its diverse marine life. Pulau Payar is also a snorkeling and diving site famous for its corals.
The Pulau Payar Marine Park is situated in the northern part of the Straits of Melaka, 19 nautical miles (35 km) south of Langkawi and encompasses the islands of Pulau Payar, Pulau Lembu, Pulau Segantang and Pulau Kaca which are surrounded by coral reefs. The marine park teems with a diversity of marine life and vegetation.
Many endangered species of fishes and marine organisms live within the sanctuary. Measuring 2 km long and 1/4 km wide, Pulau Payar is the most popular of the islands as its sheltered waters are ideal are for snorkeling, diving and swimming. Among the dive spots is the Coral Garden, an area covered with bright, multi-hued soft corals.
There are several sandy beaches on Pulau Payar island for picnics as well as hiking trails for those who wish to explore the island. Just off the beach, one can indulge in the experience of feeding baby sharks. Facilities include gazebos, picnic tables, barbecue pits and restrooms at selected areas. There is also a Visitors' Centre that provides information about the marine park. Pulau Payar Marine Park Scuba diving is popular, even with the recent coal bleaching, and still very good. There are plenty of coral dive sites and a wide variety of marine life.
Visitors can get to Pulau Payar from the Kuah jetty point by catamaran or speed boat. The catamaran services operated by Langkawi Coral, takes about 45 minutes to get to Pulau Payar while the speed boat takes an hour. It is advisable to book the catamaran service a day before the trip. Enquiries can be made with any travel agent in Kuah or at the jetty point for those intending to travel by speed boat. Apart from the fare, a levy of RM5.00 for adults and RM2.50 for children is charged for entry to the marine park.
Pulau Payar

Redang Island, Malaysia
For more great information, photos and video about Malaysia, see PleaseTakeMeTo's Malaysia Travel Guide -
Pulau Redang lies in the South China Sea, approximately 30 kilometers off the coast of Terengganu State in North Eastern Malaysia. Redang is the largest island in a marine park consisting of nine islands.
The accommodation here is more resort focused than on the nearby Perhentian Islands, making this beautiful island a popular destination for Malaysian holiday makers, and those keen to indulge in a little luxury.
Most of the resorts on Redang can be found at Long Beach, one of Malaysia's most picturesque beaches.
Pulau Redang is surrounded by reefs rich in marine life, excellent snorkeling spots can be found just a short swim away from the main beaches.
The island is also an important conservation area for sea turtles and local islanders now play an instrumental role in the protection of these gentle creatures.
With it's long white beaches and secluded rocky coves, crystal clear waters and swaying palms, Pulau Redang is everything a tropical island should be.

With its crystal clear water and white sand beaches, Redang Island ( or Pulau Redang ) on the east coast of Malaysia is a paradise for water sports like snorkeling and scuba diving and as such it is one of the most sought after places to visit in malaysia.

Tips:
1. Most importantly, you must avoid eating heavily or drinking soft drinks before snorkelling.
2. Avoid September to December, it rains here.
3. You can practice the snorkelling on the beach itself before the actual trip just to make yourself comfortable for deep sea.
Reviews:
1. The corals were awesome and they were different in all 5 locations.

Taken from Pangkor Laut Resort:
Nestled amidst an ancient rainforest, on a private island fringed by white sandy beaches and emerald waters lies Pangkor Laut Resort. Set along the Straits of Malacca, three miles off the West Coast of Malaysia, discover a piece of paradise 2 million years in the making.
Of the island's 300 acres, only a fraction has been developed to house this peaceful luxury resort and its Estates. Declared a paradise by the late Pavarotti and previously voted 'Number One in the World' by Condé Nast Traveller; here, wooden buildings blend seamlessly into the forest, walls curve around foliage, and roofs open up to allow trees to continue on their journey to the sky.
Resting beneath the shade of forest giants as old as the land, this island is not only home to one of the world’s premier resorts but also to variety of wildlife. Long-tailed macaques and oriental pied hornbills perch in the branches above while white-bellied sea eagles soar overhead and large monitor lizards sunbathe on the island’s rocky outcrops.
The Strait of Malacca:
The Strait of Malacca or Straits of Malacca is a narrow, 550 mi stretch of water between the Malay Peninsula and the Indonesian island of Sumatra. As the main shipping channel between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean, it is one of the most important shipping lanes in the world.
About Malaysia:
To know Malaysia is to love Malaysia - a bubbling, bustling melting-pot of races and religions where Malays, Indians, Chinese and many other ethnic groups live together in peace and harmony. Malaysia’s multiculturalism has made this country a gastronomical paradise and home to hundreds of colourful festivals. It's no wonder that malaysians love celebrating and socialising. As a people, Malaysians are very relaxed, warm and friendly.
Geographically, Malaysia is almost as diverse as its culture. 11 states and 2 federal territories (Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya) form Peninsular Malaysia which is separated by the South China Sea from East Malaysia which includes the 2 states (Sabah and Sarawak on the island of Borneo) and a third federal territory, the island of Labuan.
