Ultimate Chile Trip - Patagonia W Trek, Valparaiso, Elqui Valley and Atacama Desert
Our big adventure starts in the south with the W Trek in Patagonia and finishes in the north with a tour of the world's most sophisticated telescope, the VLT. In between, we visit the colourful city of Valparaiso to stay in a shipping container, Pisco Elqui, the birthplace of the brandy called Pisco and San Pedro De Atacama where a rain storm wiped out the road and caused a state of emergency.
Themes of nature, stars abound in this country so as an alternative to San Pedro De Atacama we went to see the hand of the Desert outside of Antofagasta and watched the stars in a dark sky reserve.
The stars in the Atacama are different from anywhere else we have seen them, they feel close like you can touch them. It's an amazing experience and worth traveling to Chile for!

Magical La Serena and the Elqui Valley in Chile | Travel vlog
Welcome to part two of my South American travels! In May, I visited Argentina and Chile and vlogged about my adventures! Follow me to Chile's scenic and mystical Elqui Valley, with a stop in La Serena/Coquimbo first for some seafood and sightseeing. We visited a Pisco maker, took an astronomy tour and saw some gorgeous scenery in this real-life Garden of Eden type setting. Plus: I give a hotel room tour of where we stayed, which was actually a small Eco Home. It was a really inspirational place and might just give you a few ideas for an eco home build.
Tour of the Eco Cabaña Starts at 11:02.

Bike and Wine Tour Santiago de Chile. Maipo Valley Tour
La Bicicleta Verde ( have mapped out an awe-inspiring route through the valley, offering amazing vistas of the vineyards back-dropped with the majestic Andes. Youll be able to ride through the vineyards themselves, giving you a chance to inspect the vines and grapes up close.
We start in the morning biking through three vineyards and the small pueblos which the vineyards support. The three vineyards vary not only in the wine they produce but also in the background of their origin. We visit a rustic family-owned estate producing a wide variety of wine including Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere (thought to be extinct until its rediscovery in Chile in 1995); a contemporary vineyard, started by a wealthy Santiago family to produce high quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Syrah and Cot (Chiles version of the famous Argentine Malbec); and finally a third-generation Italian owned vineyard producing only 100% organic Cabernet Sauvignon.

--- About the Carretera Austral in Patagonia ---
The Road number 7 connects the most remote areas of Chile and is one of the most beautiful roads in South America. It is an alternative road to the Panamericana which is located on the argentinean side of Patagonia.
Amongst Bikers and Cyclists this route is very popular due to the beautiful landscape even though the construction of the road was not done for tourism purpose.
In the 1970s there was a border conflict between Argentina and Chile in this part of Patagonia - the territories around the lago del desierto have not been clearly defined. Therefore Pinochet decided to build a road and populate the south of chile to claim the region and strengthen the position of Chile.
Nowadays the Ruta 7 is a mostly unpaved road and is located in 2 regions of Chile: Region Los Lagos in the northern part of the road and Region Aysen in the south.

Valley Engorda at Cajon Del Maipo in Santiago de Chile
After almost 1 and half hour an eminently rocky landscape reappears San José volcano and placid stretches to the east, the valley of the Engorda, classic veranada sector of the herdsmen in the area.
At the beginning of the valley, the trail turns north to connect to a bridge to cross the stream of Engorda. From there, the path is fully immersed in the valley. There are so many tracks that is difficult to follow only one, however, the right path is marked by the San Jose volcano and its gorge south. After 1h-1½h from the bridge and after crossing several minor courses arrive at the foot of the ravine south (note that there is also a creek north). Just to the south side there is a feature rock wall with basalt columns curious, very typical of eruptive area. This (known as pillars of the Engorda) wall, is a classic place of traditional scale in the Cajon del Maipo.
I CANT BELIEVE THIS IS PATAGONIA | TORRES DEL PAINE, CHILE
WE ARE IN PATAGONIA!!!
We were so excited to sail towards the Grey Glacier, until we got to the hotel and realised it's actually 125USD per person for a 3 hour trip!
Too expensive for us that are earning in Malaysian Ringgit, so we stayed at the shore, and hiked to the lookout point instead. We were glad we did that, as we managed to take a few timelapses of the panorama that were just simply epic (due to the microclimates).
Important fact:
The Grey Glacier is one of the 50 massive glaciers in the Patagonian Andes that is shrinking. It retreats by more than 450 feet annually.
Only the Perito Moreno and Pio XI glaciers in Patagonia is advancing.
