We start the day eating Bessara (Moroccan fava bean soup), and then visit the community bakery. We visit the first pastry shop in Marrakech to try some traditional sweets, and wash it down with freshly squeezed pomegranate juice. The medina features some cool shops that sell pickles and famous Moroccan mint. We have lunch in a busy corner of the market and try cactus fruit for the first time. We take a break from eating and visit the Secret Garden and then watch the sunset over the city. In the evening, we hit the night market for more food: Jemaa el-Fna. We eat the classic Moroccan street foods - like braised escargots!

SAHARA DESERT TOUR MOROCCO | Is it WORTH It? | Fostered Culture Travel Vlog (2019)
WE ARE ALIVE! AND THE VLOG IS BACK!
DAYS 27, 28 & 29 of Fostered Culture's 2018/2019 EuroTrip was spent doing the MOROCCAN SAHARA DESERT TOUR! WAS IT WORTH IT?
So let me break our 4 day absents down for you all!
After a late night of editing the Marrakesh: Magic or Mayhem video ( we booked a SAHARA DESERT TOUR!
We woke up super early only to leave about half an hour late, in typical fashion here in Morocco. After getting on the minibus, we all passed out, only to eventually be woken up once we reached a beautiful view point from on top of a stunning (-ly cold) pass. We repeated the process of falling asleep and waking up for more photos 1 hour later.
Our next stop was tour 1, a guided exploration of the ancient Berber city of Aït Benhaddou, where we took in the beautiuful views, interesting history, saw the set of some of Hollywood's biggest movies and watched a man burn art into a piece of paper - an ancient for of sending hidden messages.
Our tour continued with more driving, before a number of stops at Ouarzazate and around. We then arrived at a small village at Gorges Dadès where we were to stay the night. After hiking up a small mountain to watch the sun set over the majestic valley, we returned to our hostel for the night and enjoyed some Moroccan tea, a tagine dinner, and a night full of plying drums, guitar and singing. Before bed, we all admired the beauty of the starts and the full moon.
Next morning, Day 2 of the SAHARA DESERT TOUR. Woke up in the cold to make an early breakfast which was not ready on time. This lead to a late departure, but no bother. We drove for a bit before stopping at the very windy, yet picturesque Gorges Toudgha. After almost getting blown off our feet, I tried to teach Noa how to take photos. We then got back in the bus and drove to Tinghir, where we had our second Berber Village tour. This tour was a lot more personal and took us through the Jewish quarters of the village. We also enjoyed tea with a local and learnt how they made their carpets.
Once getting back on the road, we drove until stopping at another rather expensive (in comparison) restaurant, where I said we ate a city, not a local dish... Noa corrected me.
We then headed on to the desert! Once we arrived, we hopped onto the camels and began our 30 minute ride to our campsite in the dunes. I named my camel Spencer, Noa named her's Juan. We took some cool footage and made a friend with a guy called Seb!
After playing in the sand and taking some really cool pictures and videos, we missioned up to the biggest dune to watch the sunset. It was truly spectacular. The view was incredible and we all enjoyed it.
Unfortunately, afterwards the temperature, light and enjoyment levels dropped quite quickly, as we all got hangry. Dinner was scheduled for 8pm, yet at 11pm one tagine was brought out for our table of 9 people. This horrible mismanagement unfortunately dampened our night. If there is one thing that must always be implemented consistently on tours, it is food! But we survived on chocolate biscuits we had with us!
Next morning we were woken up at 6am in the cold, dark desert. Completely confused, we were told to pack up and get on the camels because our tour was ending. And so with the sun slowly creeping up over the dunes, we rode back to the pick up point. That was the end of the DESERT EXPERIENCE.
We then embarked on our 7 hour car ride to Fez. We saw sandy landscapes and snowy mountains. After a long journey, we made it to Fez, tired of sitting down!
SO THAT IS WHERE WE HAVE BEEN! THAT IS WHAT WE HAVE DONE! WE ARE STILL ALIVE!
WAS IT WORTH IT?
