Nicole and I are attempting to live off the grid in British Columbia, Canada. We have 8 acres of forest property sandwiched in between the Pacific Ocean, a fresh water lake, and a stream which flows year round from the lake into the ocean. For over nearly 10 years I grew a fruit tree, permaculture, garden, and native edible plant, herb, and raised bed garden food forest. You can still watch all the garden videos of my old desert garden in Arizona. I was born in British Columbia and I have returned to the Rain Forests of British Columbia to a Raw Land property to grow my 1st FULL EDIBLE FOOD FOREST Off Grid on a wilderness property. This climate is temperate and coastal, rarely seeing snow in the winter and highs in the 80's (30 Celsius) in the summer. It is a rare microclimate that spans from gardening zone 7-9. The property is 8 acres and completely overgrown, mostly with conifer trees. This area is a verifiable rain forest and situated in the Southwestern-most tip of the Canadian Great Bear Rain Forest. NicHolistic ( and I will be learning about edible seaweeds, edible native plants, edible mushrooms, and many other edible native trees/plants as we attempt to Build a Yurt, Draw Our Energy Clean, Live Off the Grid, and Grow an Epic Superfoods Garden and Fruit Tree Orchard. Dan and Chelle head out from their stay in Vancouver and catch the ferry down to Victoria, British Columbia!! The ferry is an excellent way to get from city to city, as well as take in some amazing sights of the Canadian coastline! Once in Victoria they take a visit to Fisherman's Wharf and are blown away by the tiny floating houses in a floating neighborhood! They are the cutest tiny homes all tied off to multiple docks forming an entire neighborhood. They talk to some of the residents and get a feel for the tiny home living these people have come to love!

Faster and not that much more expensive than the ferries, flying over to Vancouver Island on a seaplane is something I can't recommend highly enough! There's one thing checked off my bucket list. Thanks to Harbour Air Seaplanes for two amazing flights.

Van Life - Young Woman Living in a Van as Full-Time Tiny Home
Clarissa has been living full-time in her retro 80's camper van for 2 years and she's giving us a full tour of her van, and telling us what she loves and struggles with while living in such a small, mobile home.

Clarissa is currently living in a 1983 Dodge Ram Roadtrek II that she bought for $5,000 CAD.
It has a propane furnace, stovetop and fridge, and she has an auxiliary battery that powers her lights, furnace fan, and water pump. There's also a porta potti toilet in the closet but there is no shower on board.
After a few months of traveling in her van across Canada, Clarissa had to settle down in one place to get a job and so she's currently working two jobs on the West Coast of Canada and she travels on weekends and whenever she has some extra free time.
While living in a van isn't currently helping her save money because she eats out & goes out quite a bit, she admits that it would be easy to do for someone who has that kind of goal.

Roadtrip To Tofino From Vancouver: Staying at The Shoreline, and Another Helicoptor Ride
We decided it was about time for another roadtrip, and where better to escape to than Tofino. Just 2 hour ferry and 3 hour drive from Vancouver, Joel and I decided to take a midweek vaca out and just relax and explore Tofino. Thanks to The Shoreline for hosting us.
