Denali National Park
Denali National Park and Preserve, located in southern Alaska near the town of Healy, is the third-largest national park in the United States, covering just over 6 million acres and centered around Mt. Denali, formerly known as Mt. McKinley, the highest mountain peak in North America. Denali’s varied landscape and wildlife attract hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, and its rich prehistoric and human history make it a popular destination for scientists. Denali - Helicopter Excursions | Holland America Line
ALASKA 09
This is about as wild as it gets. In 2009, Glenn, Dan, Gordon, and I went to Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and met up with our guide, Matt, to fly into Iceberg Lake in the Chugach Range for a few days. The ice dam had recently broken, as it does yearly, to leave the 'bergs high and dry in a trail-less area surrounded by the most amazing scenery.

Alaska Public Lands Information Center Museum in Anchorage Tour (4K)
We toured the Alaska Public Lands Information Center in Anchorage. This is actually a nice museum and free to get in. We heard it about it from our guide in the Alaska City Trolley Tour (see our video on that here: )
Interestingly it is actually a Federal building so you must submit to a security screening process similar to one you would undertake nowadays at an airport. The exhibits were pretty realisitic and informative. There is also a theater where you can watch short (~15 minutes) informational/educational features regarding Alaska.
There was even a scavenger hunt for kids where they can get a small prize.
The Alaska Public Lands Information Center was a short walk away from where we were dropped off from a free Port of Anchorage shuttle. This was from our June 2017 14 day Alaska Cruise aboard the Holland America Amsterdam.
Lake Clark Soils Inventory Project Report
A Soil Resource Inventory of Lake Clark National Park and Preserve was completed by the Alaska Region I&M Inventory Program in 2012. As part of the project wrap-up with our contractor, ABR, Inc. Environmental Research and Services, soil scientist Aaron Wells conducted a WebEx presentation with NPS staff Wednesday Feb. 20, 2013 to summarize this two-year long project. If you've ever wondered how information about soils can be used in resource management activities, or interpretation of park resources, or how knowledge of soils may help improve your understanding of park ecological processes, this video is for you. 18. Property Rights and Public Lands Management
Environmental Politics and Law (EVST 255)
The lecture centers on public lands management and the effect of property rights on sustainable resource management. Property rights create a complex set of relationships that complicate effective environmental management. Popular conceptions of wilderness also make it difficult to manage public lands sustainably, since people view wilderness as a place of freedom, without regulation. Managing property rights and people's concept of right to wilderness are the central issues facing natural resource managers and public lands managers. As a result, it is important to consider external forces, such as climate change, that influence one's ability to exercise property rights.
00:00 - Chapter 1. The Question of Authority
09:58 - Chapter 2. Adirondack Pie: Public and Private
19:12 - Chapter 3. Popular Conception and the Paradox of Wilderness
29:19 - Chapter 4. Conflicting Values: The Permit Process
