Erewash Museum (07/06/2013) - Two guests removed from kitchen
During an investigation at Erewash Museum in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, several guests had their arms moved up and down involuntarily in the kitchen area, forcing one of the guests down until she was standing with her legs straight and her body arched over at a right-angle, dragging other members of the group with her. After this incident, both herself and her friend next to her were unable to move from where they were stood, visibly shaking, and had to have the spirits removed from them and helped from the room. Both guests were fine later on, and were left both bemused and puzzled.

Swing Back To The 40s. Erewash Museum. June 2019
Had a fab time at the Erewash Museum and Gardens who held their annual Swing Back To The 1940s event. It was a scorching hot day! phew! :)
Although the venue is small it certainly didn't disappoint. It was a 1940s knees up with vintage vehicles and displays, The Festival Swing Dance Society and Johnny Victory entertaining the visitors, many in vintage attire. The Museum was fascinating, engaging and informative, top marks to them!

The Ilkeston Narrow Boat
On 23rd August, a horse drawn narrow boat called The Ilkeston, finished its journey from The National Waterways Museum, Ellesmere Port, in Cheshire to The London Canal Museum, in Kings Cross, London. I walked alongside during this last part and decided to write a poem. Hope you like it.
Reconnaisance Borrowash & Ockbrook – the iPad drawings by Mik Godley
Unexamined Lives – A Heritage Lottery-funded project at Erewash Museum, High Street, Ilkeston, Derbyshire, UK, DE7 5JA
In the exhibition “Unexamined Lives” we celebrate the many strands of work from the project. You can view the stunning wall display of 30 mini-biographies drawn from the published Lives written by Project Director, Helen Clark.
We will also feature the work of four local artists who use the written word, drawings, drama, film and audio techniques they to introduce a different dynamic and bring the project alive; iPad drawings by Mik Godley, live dramatic monologues written by Chrissie Hall, a new film by Julian Hanby and the work of poet Dave Wood, all commissioned to produce a creative response to the project. The display also includes the underpinning historical research work of Peter Ball and Keith Oseman, including the local War Memorials.
Directed by Helen Clark, (the former MP for Peterborough and currently a resident of Borrowash) the project is the work of The Ockbrook and Borrowash Historical and Archaeological Society in partnership with Erewash-based Wash Arts CIC. It is a study of the 20th century from the perspective of people who lived, worked or had a connection with the Derbyshire village of Borrowash. It provides a unique insight into how significant events of the last 100 years have impacted upon the people who lived their lives at a far remove from Westminster and Buckingham Palace. The project does not pull any punches; whilst it celebrates the resilience and humour of its subjects, it also confronts the challenges of war, peace, family break up, addiction, child sexual abuse and the Swinging Sixties, all freely mentioned by the people who have been affected by them in face to face interviews with the project interviewers, Anthony Heron and Paul Hart.
Join us for an opportunity to view the work and to meet the team and some of those whose Lives we have examined!
