Thai police hunt jewellery robber who shot dead three people, including toddler
An armed robbery at a mall in central Thailand has left three people dead, including a toddler. The incident happened in Lopburi, about 145km north of Bangkok. Four other people were wounded. Surveillance camera footage showed a masked man entering a gold shop and opening fire. He shot a security guard, a woman shop assistant and a two-year-old boy who was walking past with his mother. Local media said the police have offered more than $3,000 in reward for information leading to the killer's arrest.

Chao Phraya & Bangkok Canals Boat Tour. Escape the crowds and see a more authentic part of Bangkok
If you are looking for something unique to do in Bangkok, then I really recommend a long-tail boat canal tour. It’s a wonderful way to get a bit off the beaten path, escape the crowds, and see a more authentic part of the city.
We visited Bangkok with children and they were really happy to have a break from the temples and do something different for a change. All in all, a great tour that I highly recommend to all first-time visitors to Bangkok.

This Is Life In A Thai Jail: Face Death Or Madness (1999)
Life in Jail (1999): Dangerous at the best of times, we see inside some of the world's most terrifying prisons, in Thailand.
Subscribe to Journeyman here:
In the dim light of Big Tiger prison, men lie top to toe in overcrowded cells. New inmates sit idly jangling their feet irons, put-on them to reduce the prison suicide rate. Amongst these men is Lyle Doniger who with Deborah Spinner and Jane McKenzie smuggled in their bodies 10 heroin-packed condoms from Sydney to Thailand in 1996. These three Australian junkies gambled with Thailand's famously tough smuggling laws and lost. I was under the influence of drugs, says Jane, we really didn't think before we took the actions we did. In Thai law they are considered lucky, the mandatory death sentence for heroin trafficking was commuted to a 50-year jail term. Lyle is afraid he'll go mad. Most foreigners hit a wall at about six to eight years so I'm really sweating it. In the women's prison, Deborah laments her loss. My son is 5 now. He doesn't even remember me... that breaks my heart. In these cells thousands of miles from home they must serve their time alone.
Lyle Doniger was unexpectedly given a royal pardon in 2002 and released. Jane McKenzie and Deborah Spinner were transferred to Australia in 2004, and released from a Sydney prison in 2007.

Thief Raids ATM With A Crowbar
A bungling crook tries to break open an ATM with a crowbar in broad day light.
The would-be thief was seen smashing open the cash machine on the busy Sukhumvit Road area of Bangkok, Thailand, on Monday morning (Jan 20).
Shocked onlookers recorded the man before calling the police. Officers arrived and arrested the him - without having managed to steal any money.
Police later identified the ATM attacker as unemployed Chawang-knang, 33, from the neighbouring country of Burma, also known as Mayanmar.
Shocked onlooker Pimchompoo Supprach said: At first I thought he was a bank technician trying to repair the ATM. But I soon realised that he was a robber.
