STANLEY FALKLAND ISLANDS - WIND AND WAVES - RIPPER FILMS
The waves are too high to go ashore, so we spend some time looking at Stanley of the Falkland Islands
Visiting Buff Cove Penguin Rookery , Falklands Island with Pricness Cruises. Tour PSY-635
It’s not everyday you get to see wild penguins, I could of stayed all day watching them mess around, look after their brand new born chicks and catch fish in the sea for their young ones.
Before anyone says anything this is on an island called the Falklands Island which is a British owned island miles from homeland Britain. A couple bought this slot of land many years ago and still own it, they wanted the penguins to be untouched and left alone and only certain months a year you can visit them, they wanted to insure the penguins stayed healthy and lived their natural lives, and here it’s penguins before visitors, so if they want to walk in front of you you must stop, and never go into the white flagged areas! For me I’m so in love with this as I hate zoo’s especially when I see too many penguins in a tiny trapped enclosure. Hope you enjoy this photo as much as I enjoyed my day here!

The Camp is the term used in the Falkland Islands to refer to any part of the islands outside the islands' only significant town, Stanley, and often the large RAF base at Mount Pleasant.It is derived from the Spanish word campo, for countryside.The Camp contains various small settlements, such as Fox Bay, Goose Green, Darwin, and Port Howard, which are usually little more than several houses.Port Louis in the north of East Falkland is the oldest permanent settlement in the islands, established by the French in 1764.

King Penguins from Falkland Islands during Holland America Cruise to Antarctica
Two King penguins left their colony and hanging out nearby the town rearranging their feathers. This is referred as Pruning and it may take several weeks to complete. In the meantime, from what the local scientist told me, they cannot go to water for food. Therefore people around them need to stop disturbing behaviours so they use the precious and limited energy for only what they need... The Walebone Cove here this video was recorded is accessible via van shuttle from downtown Stanley.

Antarctica Trip Part 1
Part 1 of my Dec 2015- Jan 2016 trip to Antarctica with National Geographic/Lindblad Expeditions. Used Wondershare Filmora software for my editing, the few video/music glitches are completely my fault. I'm just now realizing how painful the editing process is when you are a beginner and have hundreds of files from one trip. I hope to have Part 2 published within the next two months.

SUMMARY
=======
The history of the Falkland Islands (Spanish: Islas Malvinas) goes back at least five hundred years, with active exploration and colonisation only taking place in the 18th century. Nonetheless, the islands have been a matter of controversy, as they have been claimed by the French, British, Spaniards and Argentines at various points.
The islands were uninhabited when discovered by Europeans. France established a colony on the islands in 1764. In 1765, a British captain claimed the islands for Britain. In early 1770 a Spanish commander arrived from Argentina with five ships and 1400 soldiers forcing the British to leave Port Egmont. Britain and Spain almost went to war over the islands, but the British government decided that it should withdraw its presence from many overseas settlements in 1774. Spain, which had a garrison at Puerto Soledad on East Falklands, administered the garrison from Montevideo until 1811 when it was compelled to withdraw by pressures resulting from the Peninsular War. In 1833, the British returned to the Falkland Islands. Argentina invaded the islands on 2 April 1982. The British responded with an expeditionary force that forced the Argentines to surrender.

This is the first trip on my way to the Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas). The landing on this Airport prove to be challenging due to a low cloud ceiling. The Approach was completely IFR and only about 350 to 400 feet from the ground I manage to see the runway lights.
