In May 1949 Belfast Celtic set out on what was to be a farewell tour of north America. During the 10 match tour the Celtic team confounded international football by beating the Scotland wonder team 2-0 in front of 15,000 spectators at the American Triboro Stadium.

Remembering Óglach Jack McCartan 'a true fenian'
Family, comrades and friends gather at the Andersonstown social club (the PD) to remember Óglach Jack McCartan who was shot dead by the British army in the early hours of August 4th 1977 as he locked up the PD for the night.

Belfast National Graves Association
Rehearsals take place for the Padraig Pearse lecture and play in St Mathews Social Club Short Strand Belfast. This event is one of four events taking place throughout the city organised by Belfast N.G.A. The plays are written and directed by Rosaleen Watson, and the actors and technicians all give freely of their time to stage these events. The next event is the Countess Markievicz lecture and play, which will take place in the Felons Club Falls Road Belfast on SUNDAY 6TH MARCH at 7.30pm. Admission is £3 and can be paid at the door, alternatively tickets can be purchased in advance at the Felons Club. SUNDAY 6TH MARCH, NOT MONDAY 7TH AS STATED IN VIDEO CLIP

Brexit and Northern Ireland Event in Belfast
Enjoy the panel discussion which took place at our recent event, where we launched our new book ‘Brexit and Northern Ireland: Bordering on Confusion?’ at The Open University in Belfast.
The discussion is hosted by Broadcaster and Novelist Roisin McAuley. Our panellists for the event included Dr Katy Hayward, Reader in Sociology at Queen’s University Belfast and a Senior Fellow at UK in a Changing Europe and Dr Leslie Budd, Reader in Social Enterprise in the Department of Public Leadership and Social Enterprise at the Open University Business School and Visiting Professor at the Centre for Brexit Studies.
The panel also included Neil Johnston, Chairman of the Conservative Party in Northern Ireland, Aodhan Connolly, Director of the Northern Ireland Retail Consortium and Brian Feeney, Historian, Author and Journalist.
