Vancouver PWA2 seek a live kidney donor for their coach
We are the Vancouver Minor Hockey Association Peewee A2 hockey team. This year our coach, Stephen, entered our team Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup, a cross Canada contest urging Peewee hockey teams to do a good deed for their community. We fund raised over $1300 in one week through various initiatives to provide a family a special Christmas with gifts and meals.
During the contest we learned that our head coach Stephen has a very serious and rare kidney disease. Even though Stephen is really sick, he never misses our practices or games. For Stephen to continue leading our team, on and off the ice, he needs to find a living donor to provide him a kidney for a transplant.
To assist our coach in finding a donor, as a very personal good deed, we created this video to share his message of need. We hope you too can share our message and help give our coach the gift of life.
If you or someone you know is interested in donating please contact the Vancouver transplant coordinator:
Renee Katter
604-875-4111 EXT. 20518
or 1-855-875-5185
Thank you for helping our coach!

New images show couple before their deaths in Canada
Police now say there is a possible link between the murders of Chynna Deese and Lucas Fowler in northern British Columbia and another murder and disappearance. READ MORE:
Canadian police investigating the mysterious death of a young couple and the disappearance of two teenagers say they can't rule out the possibility that the two cases could be connected.
Chynna Noelle Deese, 24, of the United States, and her boyfriend, Lucas Robertson Fowler, 23, of Australia, were found dead on July 15 along Highway 97, some 12 miles south of Liard Hot Springs, British Columbia. Fowler's blue 1986 Chevrolet van was located at the scene, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Police have since confirmed that Deese and Fowler were on a road trip exploring Northern British Columbia and that they were victims of gun violence.

How To Find Your Special Someone In Vancouver When You #donthave1million
Let’s face it: Vancouver is expensive. How expensive? By one measure, the third most unaffordable housing of 367 urban markets (trailing only Hong Kong and Sydney). If you’re single and looking for a relationship, this can be a problem for two reasons:
- Endless dating can take a toll on your pocket book (drinks, dinners, etc.).
- And, if you’re deemed by your date to be ‘not established’ (ie. renting versus owning, etc.), this can make you seem less likely to be relationship material.
But just because you “#donthave1million”, it doesn’t have to ruin your chances of finding relationship bliss in Vancouver: the key is to date smarter, not harder.
Here are the top 5 ways to find your special someone in Vancouver when you “#donthave1million”:
1. Save it for later: Talking about money on a first or second date (whether you have a lot or none at all) is a classic dating don’t. Focus on getting to know the person you’re with and keep it casual, light and positive. There’ll be plenty of time to discuss finances down the road once you’ve established a real connection.
2. Don’t break the (piggy) bank: Avoid overly costly first dates. In addition to being hard on your pocketbook, they can also create awkward pressure when the (huge) bill comes at the end. Your best bet in Vancouver is to keep your dates simple, for example:
- Grab some coffees and stroll the seawall.
- Check out Granville Island.
- Explore a farmer’s market, or dine and go with food truck fare that you’ll both enjoy.
3. Smart beats rich: Even if you’re not (yet) financially established, you can be smart about your finances. Being wise about saving, and living within your means can go a long way towards making a positive impression on your date.
4. Seek alignment, not perfection: What’s more important than a specific dollar figure, is whether you’re both on the same page regarding your views on money. Is home ownership a must-have in your future or are you okay with renting? Do you value material possessions or are you comfortable living a more simple existence?
5. Think in twos: At their core, strong relationships are partnerships in every sense of the word. So avoid thinking only in terms of individual assets, and think about your combined potential. Having a partner who’ll be a great parent, or who is supportive of your stressful career, may allow you to achieve even greater financial heights. Being happy is a great career move.

ABOUT THIS FEED:
Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada, in the Canadian Rockies, is located on the Canadian Pacific Railway (CP), where their Shuswap Sub meets their Mountain Sub. The Shuswap Sub runs to the west to Kamloops, BC (towards Vancouver, BC), and the Mountain Sub runs to the east to Field, BC, through Rogers Pass.
The CP traverses the Canadian Rockies over 2 passes. Rogers Pass, which is to the immediate east of Revelstoke, and further east, Kicking Horse Pass, which is to the immediate east of Field. Rogers Pass is at 4,360 feet (1,330 meters), and Kicking Horse Pass is at 5,339 feet (1,627 meters). To the west of Revelstoke is the lower Eagle Pass, at 1,804 feet (550 meters).
Among the freight trains seen here are unit potash, unit grain, and unit coal. Loaded westbounds feature both mid-train and end-of-train DPU’s, and empty eastbounds have fewer engines, both on front and as DPU’s. Many but not all eastbounds will stop to enter the yard, which is located to the east of the museum and cameras. Also seen are manifests, intermodal, and combined intermodal/manifest..
On occasion, the gates will activate, but will soon after deactivate, with no train, which is due to the switcher in the yard proceeding far forward enough to enter the crossing's track circuit.
There are no VIA Rail passenger trains through Revelstoke, however, during part of the year the Rocky Mountaineer can be seen.
There are 2 ATCS layouts, one for each sub, but there is no server coverage. No radio feeds are available.
There’s no schedule for freight trains, but some of our more knowledgeable members will provide real-time information when it’s available. Please refrain from asking.
