Places to see in ( Castellon de la Plana - Spain )
Castellón de la Plana, Castelló de la Plana, or simply Castellón / Castelló, is the capital city of the province of Castellón, in the Valencian Community, Spain, in the east of the Iberian Peninsula, on the Costa del Azahar by the Mediterranean Sea.
The mountain range known as Desert de les Palmes rises inland north of Castellon de la Plana . The Prime Meridian crosses Castellón de la Plana . The annual festivities in Castellon are a week of celebrations three weeks before Easter every year called La Magdalena. People come from all over the province and many international bands and groups participate.
Most of the historical buildings in Castellon de la Plana are located in the diminutive old town, around the Plaça Major (Main Square). These include:
The Concatedral de Santa Maria (co-cathedral of Saint Mary), built in a Gothic-style in the 13th century and reconstructed one century later after destruction by fire. The present building is another reconstruction after the demolition ordered by the council during the Spanish civil war (1936).
The Ajuntament (City Hall), erected at the beginning of the 18th century. It features a pretty Tuscan-style façade rising up over a colonnade.
The standing alone bell-tower of the procathedral, known as El Fadrí (the single man), built in the 15th century.
The Llotja del Cànem (Hemp Exchange Market), built during the first half of the 17th century to be used by traders in hempen cloth and ropes, a very important activity in the area at the time. Today the building is used by the University for cultural events and temporary exhibitions.
On the northeast edge of the town, at the end of a broad avenue decorated with orange trees, stands the Basílica of Santa Maria del Lledó (European Hackberry or Celtis australis), a basilica devoted to an image of the Virgin Mary found in 1366 by a farmer when he was ploughing his lands. The original 14th-century chapel was extended to its present Baroque form during the 16th century. The comple

JÉRICA, la Reina del Palancia!
Hola amigos, hello friends!

Hello friends, here I bring you a bit of my Easter; one of the #activities that enrich me, easing my mind and making me enjoy greatly is #traveling. It is not necessary to go very far, here is the proof. Jérica is a beautiful little town of Castellón, in the region of Alto Palancia. Its history goes back to the Neolithic period but it was during the Muslim period when it became definitive its settlement in the present location. Framed in a spectacular mountainous landscape Jérica offers the possibility of practicing many outdoor activities: Hiking, climbing, horse riding, cycling... For some years now it is very easy and pleasant to enjoy the landscape thanks to the rustic walks that have been conditioned. In fact one of them is La Vuelta de la Hoz and La Vía Verde de Ojos Negros. In your excursions you will always find on the road a fountain with fresh and medicinal water; my father already said that Jérica was the town of a hundred fountains! Also the town is rich in #art; Its Tower with its bells, declared National Historical-Artistic Monument, is the only #Mudéjar Tower of the whole #Comunidad Valenciana. The Municipal Museum houses pieces of great value through which you will be able to know the history of the Villa de Jérica. Its festivities are distributed throughout the year being the most crowded those that are celebrated in summer by the remarkable presence of vacationers and visitors. It is a town of affable character, hospitable; there you will eat wonderfully, in restaurants or outdoors! And even winter there is good atmosphere on the weekends. No doubt Jérica has much more than what is shown here but my intention was to convey its essence. It's my first video on YouTube, I've done it with a lot of love and I hope you liked it; If it is so, I would like to see your little finger up, your comments and I encourage you to subscribe and share! Thanks and see you soon!

Alcalà de Xivert is located within the historic land of El Maestrazgo, to the north of the province of Castellon. This city, which is sheltered by the natural shield provided by Sierra de Irta, and stretches along an alluvial plain, reaches the sea at the tourist beaches of Las Fuentes, Alcossebre, and Cap i Corb.
Dominating the historic quarter we have the Tower of Campanario, which stands 58 metres high. This monumental work, built in the 18th century, is attached to the classicist Valencian-Baroque church of San Juan Bautista. The Parish Museum exhibits a valuable collection of painting and precious metalwork.
The Order of Montesa, which managed these lands during the Middle Ages by order of King James II, left its particular mark on the castle of Xivert, a fortress erected at the heart of Sierra de Irta.
Other interesting monuments include the chapel of la Virgen de los Desamparados (18th century), the Renaissance building that Houses the Arts Centre, and the Baroque hermitage of Calvario, to name a few.
The shoreline of Alcalá offers excellent beaches at Alcossebre, and nautical facilities, such as Las Fuentes Marina. The area still preserves a few defence towers, such as the one at Cap i Corb.
A few kilometres away from the city we find the Prat de Cabanes-Torreblanca Nature Reserve, one of the most important wetlands in the Autonomous Community of Valencia, and Peñíscola, a picturesque tourist town in Costa Azahar.
