A cunning fox gave firefighters and locals the slip after it sent them on a wild goose chase inside a building in the seaside city of Valparaiso, Chile. They were called on Friday September 26, after reports of a wild fox inside the building in the Florida district of the city. The agile animal managed to outrun and outsmart the firefighters along with local residents and volunteers who tried to catch the fox in order to return him to his natural habitat. Chile: Protesters loot church, burn its contents in Santiago
Subscribe to our channel! rupt.ly/subscribe
Protesters in Santiago dragged furniture and religious artefacts out of a Catholic church before setting them on fire in the street, on Friday.
Riot police used a water cannon to extinguish the flaming barricade which protesters had assembled from the contents of the La Asuncion church, with the police also deploying tear gas in an attempt to force the protesters to disperse.
The nearby University Pedro de Valdivia was also set on fire, with smoke billowing from the roof of a unviersity building, although the cause of the conflagration is reportedly still being established.
The current wave of protests in Chile, which are considered to be the largest in decades, was sparked by a now-suspended metro fare hike. The demonstrations have since evolved into a movement with wider grievances aimed at addressing the rising cost of living, pension reform and police conduct during protests amid calls for the resignation of President Sebastian Pinera.

Firefighters battle burning forests in Chile
(25 Jan 2017) Chilean firefighters continued to battle a wildfire which on Tuesday affected the southeastern part of Santiago, near the Andes mountain range.
At least 80 hectares (197 acres) of forest was burning in the area, according to the fire brigade.
The fast-spreading blazes of recent weeks have destroyed about 300,000 acres (more than 160,000 hectares) of forest; many fires are still burning, and more are expected to flare up with forecasts of high temperatures, strong winds and low humidity in the coming days.
According to the country's National Forest Corporation (CONAF), 85 blazes are currently being fought across the country, with 34 still out of control.
Chilean President Michelle Bachelet has requested the help of Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Peru and Spain in battling the fires.
The US is also sending a group of experts and funds to replace equipment at Chile's national forestry agency.

Residents attempt to build firewall in Chile
(30 Jan 2017) The forest fires that have consumed more than half a million hectares in Chile seemed to retreat on Sunday, helped by the arrival of international assistance.
There were 118 fires on Sunday of which 59 were active, an official from the National Forest Corporation said.
It was claimed that the reduction in area affected showed their strategy to fight the fires was working.
However, in some parts the fires were still seen to be advancing.
In Portezuelo, around 400 kilometres (250 miles) south of the capital, Santiago, residents attempted to create a fire wall to fend off a large blaze, but as the wind direction changed they were forced to abandon their plan and evacuate the area.
Other areas are were also still being affected, with police and military evacuating residents and cutting off roads.
