Praia do Flamengo RJ Beach (Playa) - Rio de Janeiro Brazil
Located in the Flamengo District, the beach is the first of the slopes of Bahia de Guanabara, followed by the beaches of Botafogo and Urca.
From these beaches, visitors have access to one of the most beautiful landscapes of Guanabara Bay, with spectacular views of Sugar Loaf Mountain.
On Flamengo beach is located the Brigadeiro Eduardo Gomes Park, known as Flamengo Park.
In this space are over 11 thousand trees of about a thousand different species.
The Museum of Modern Art (MAM) is located within the nearby Flamengo Park.
Frequently frequented by residents, the beach has been gaining prominence and tourism is gaining more space.
Great for picnic, the area also offers eating options according to local needs.
Bike rides on the bike path or playing sports such as skating, tennis, basketball and soccer, the most common activities in the region.
Because it is inside Guanabara Bay, the water is generally unfit for bathing, according to the sea quality report released by the INEA (State Environmental Institute) website.
The ebb and flow of the tide can sometimes improve water bathing, but the ideal is to stay in the sun and enjoy the scenery, reserving the sea baths for other beaches in the city.
To get to the beach, select some public transport options like Bus or Metro that can take you there, but you can also use it privately.
Here is a list of some lines that pass near your destination:
Subway: Metro L1 + L4, Metro L2;
Train: RAMAL DEODORO, RAMAL SARACURUNA;
Buses: 105 - TRO5, 433, 471, 472.

Clube de Regatas do Flamengo is a Brazilian sports club based in Rio de Janeiro best known for their professional soccer team.
Founded in the eponymous rowing district on November 17, 1895, it became one of the most successful and popular clubs in Brazilian sport.
It is the most popular soccer team in Brazil, with an estimated 40 million fans spread across all regions of Brazil.
The name Flamengo was a tribute to the Dutch navigators who, in the first half of the seventeenth century, passed through Rio de Janeiro. The navigators were called, in French, flames and Flemings.
With its red and black colors, the traditional uniform features red and black striped shirts, white shorts, and red and black striped socks.
Lamartine Babo's popular hymn with lyrics and music, first recorded by Gilberto Alves in 1945, sings the glory of the club, whose chorus is Once Flamengo, always Flamengo.
Among his greatest glories are the achievements of the Intercontinental Cup and the Libertadores Cup in 1981, a Mercosur Cup and a South American Gold Cup, and 6 Brazilian titles (1980, 1982, 1983, 1987, 1992, 2009).
In the 1960s, rival fans began calling their fans vultures, a racist allusion to the large mass of red-black Afro-descendent and poor fans. Badly received by the fans initially, in 1969 the vulture (“urubu”) was consecrated as a team mascot.
Maracanã is the stadium where Flamengo play their home matches, and the greatest player in the club's history was Zico.
Led since June 2019 by Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus, Flamengo has arguably the best team in Brazil in the 2019 season.

It is more peaceful and secluded than its rival Copacabana Beach which is always crowded, though culturally more captivating. Flamengo, Maracanã Stadium, Rio de Janeiro, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, South America
The Estádio do Maracanã is an open-air stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Owned by the Rio de Janeiro State Government, it is, as the Maracanã neighborhood where it is located, named after the Rio Maracanã, a now canalized river in Rio de Janeiro. It was opened in 1950 to host the FIFA World Cup, and in the final game Brazil was beaten 2--1 by Uruguay. Since then, it has mainly been used for football matches between the major football clubs in Rio de Janeiro, including Botafogo, Flamengo, Fluminense, and Vasco da Gama. It has also hosted a number of concerts and other sporting events. Although the paid attendance at the final game of the 1950 FIFA World Cup was 199,854 (being the world's largest stadium by capacity, when it was inaugurated), the stadium currently seats 78,838 spectators, making it the largest stadium in Brazil and South America. It was the main venue of the 2007 Pan American Games, hosting the football tournament and the opening and closing ceremonies. The Maracanã was partially rebuilt in preparation for the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup, the 2014 World Cup which will be the first one held in Brazil since 1950, and also the 2016 Summer Olympics, and the 2016 Summer Paralympics. The stadium held a test game on April 27, 2013 with teams led by Ronaldo and Bebeto. The first official match was on June 2, 2013, where Brazil drew 2-2 with England in a friendly match. After winning the right to host the 1950 FIFA World Cup, the Brazilian government sought to build a new stadium for the tournament. The plans for the stadium were drawn up by seven Brazilian architects, Miguel Feldman, Waldir Ramos, Raphael Galvão, Oscar Valdetaro, Orlando Azevedo, Antônio Dias Carneiro and Pedro Paulo Bernardes Bastos. The first stone was laid at the site of the stadium on August 2, 1948. With the first World Cup game scheduled to be played on June 24, 1950, this left a little under two years to finish construction. However, work quickly fell behind schedule, prompting FIFA to send Dr. Ottorino Barassi, the head of the Italian FA, who had organized the 1934 World Cup to help in Rio de Janeiro. The construction of Maracanã was criticized by Carlos Lacerda, then Congressman and political enemy of the mayor of the city, general Ângelo Mendes de Morais, for the expense and for the chosen location for the stadium, arguing that it should be built in the West Zone neighborhood of Jacarepaguá. Still it was supported by journalist Mário Rodrigues Filho, Mendes de Morais was able to move the project forward. At the time, a horse racing arena stood in the chosen area. The competition for the work was opened by municipality of Rio de Janeiro in 1947, with the construction contract awarded by engineer Humberto Menescal, and architectural contract awarded by Michael Feldman, Waldir Ramos, Raphael Galvão, Oscar Valdetaro, Orlando Azevedo, Pedro Paulo Bernardes Bastos, and Antônio Dias Carneiro. The works initiated on August 2, 1948, with the laying of the cornerstone. 1,500 workers constructed the stadium, with an additional two thousand working in the final months. Despite having come into use in 1950, the works were only completed in 1965. For the 2014 World Cup, a major reconstruction project was accomplished. The original seating bowl, with a two-tier configuration, was demolished, giving way to a new one-tier seating bowl. The new seats are colored yellow, blue and white forming along with the green of the match field, the Brazilian national colors. In addition, the grayish tone returns as the main façade color of the stadium. The original stadium's roof in concrete was demolished and substituted with a fiberglass tensioned membrane coated with Teflon. The new roof will cover 95% of the seats inside the stadium, unlike the former design, where protection was given to some seats in the upper ring and also from the seats of the bleachers above the gate access of each sector. The old boxes level, which were installed above the stands for the 2000 FIFA Club World Cup, were dismantled in the reconstruction process. On May 30, 2013, a friendly between gameBrazil and England scheduled for June 2 was called off by the local justice due to safety concerns related to the stadium. The government of Rio de Janeiro appealed against the decision with the game going ahead as originally planned, the final score being a 2−2 draw.

URCA
Urca is a traditional and wealthy residential neighborhood with nearly 7,000 inhabitants (2000 census) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Although most of the neighborhood dates from the 1920s, parts of it are much older. What is now called the Forte São João, a military base at the foot of the Sugarloaf Mountain, is where the first Portuguese settlement in Rio was founded by Estácio de Sá on March 1, 1565. The French had arrived 12 years earlier and founded a settlement, called France Antarctique, close to what is now Flamengo and Gloria districts, in downtown Rio. The French, riven by internal disputes between Catholics and Protestants,[3] were massacred by the Portuguese and their Indian allies in attacks organized from here, expelling them from the nearby Villegagnon Island (named after the French commander Nicolas Durand de Villegaignon). The street now called Rua São Sebastião, in Urca, which leads from behind the fort to the Urca casino, was originally a trail from the Portuguese fort skirting the edge of the sea to the mainland along the peninsula that houses the Sugar Loaf and a smaller hill, the Morro da Urca. Rua São Sebastião thus has some claim to be the oldest street in Rio.

Aproveitem!

A Camera Floating Among The Crowd. Walking Around Ipanema This local market is located around the sides of the Praca Nossa Senhora da Paz just outside the entrance to the Nossa Senhora da Paz metro station in Ipanema.
The market only operates on a Friday morning and whilst it is relatively small there are a good number of stalls selling some beautifully fresh fruit, most of which we hadn't seen before, vegetables, eggs, mushrooms, fish, and meat. There were a good number of locals buying produce and we could see why.

The farmers' market features a wide variety of foods in a central location. It is close to the cruise port so it is an easy walk to enjoy this market. This market is on Fridays and locals loves it. This one has great variety and good quality. One would think, given the location, it is more expensive, but actually I found this not to be the case. also if you go towards the end there are great deals to be had.
