Autumn Fall Foliage
Peak foliage color in capital city of Montpelier and the Stowe Mountain area region of Vermont in 2016 took place on the weekend of October 8th 2016
Foliage color generally starts to change in the higher, cooler areas of the Green Mountains, spreading down into the Lake Champlain Valley and Connecticut River Valley, and moving from north to south across the state. The exact timing of the color change varies from year to year, based on the weather.

Villages at Huntington - a gated community in Melville, NY www.LIPREALTY.com
Gated Community in Melville, NY - Villages at Huntington. This was filmed in 2007.
Melville Homes for Sale - - (631) 482-7052- Hector Gavilla - 4 Bedroom Bennington Colonial in the Villages at Huntington, in Half Hollow Hills School District #5. Sunquam Elementary School. Half Hollow Hills East High School. This is one of several private, gated communities in Melville. The Villages at Huntington is very close to Dix Hills and is located on Long Island. The home in a private gated community in Melville is listed with Hector Gavilla from LIP Realty Melville, New York. Call Hector Gavilla (631) 482-7052
Melville is a hamlet and is part of the town of Huntington in Suffolk County on Long Island, New York, in the United States.
It is directly east of Nassau County border. The Long Island Expressway (LIE) and Northern State Parkway, two of the country's busiest highways and major points of entry in and out of New York City, pass through Melville. Melville is located immediately off of Exit 49 of the LIE. New York State Route 110 runs through the center of Melville.
The area was known to the native Americans as Sunsquams. In the 17th century it was known as Samuel Ketcham's Valley, named for a local resident. Afterwards it was known as Sweet Hollow. This name was replaced by Melville in school records in 1854. There is some debate as to the origin of the Melville name. It may be derived from the Latin for honey. (the area had an abundance of honey bees and this may have also been the origin of the previous Sweet Hollow name). It should also be noted that the author Herman Melville was being published around this time.
A Presbyterian church was built in Melville in 1829 at the northeast corner of Old Country and Sweet Hollow Roads. In 1977 the church was moved 1-mile (1.6 km) to the West. The church was in continuous use until 1930. It reopened in 1944 for the funeral of Edward Baylis and has been in use since then.
In 1909 a trolley line to Huntington was established. This was an extension of the Huntington Trolley Spur and went as far south as Amityville and had a connection to Babylon. There were six fare zones, one of which was the Duryea Farm at Melville. The line was shut down a decade later after farmers complained that noise from the trolley frightened their animals. Buses provided transportation after the trolley line closed. The growing use of private cars also reduced demand for the trolley line.
In May of 2011, construction commenced for the replacement of the Northern State Parkway bridge over Route 110. The original bridge is 63 years old. The project was budgeted for $56,000,000 and is expected to be completed in winter of 2013 and 2014.
Long Island's tallest point is Jayne's Hill near Melville, with an elevation of 400.9 feet (122.2 m) above sea level.

The US-Canada Border Splits This Road Down The Middle
Rue Canusa (or Canusa Avenue) is a street that's split in two by a border: the northern part is in Stanstead, Canada, and the southern part is in Derby Line, USA — and border crossings here aren't as easy as they used to be.

Time-lapse road trip: From California to North Carolina. 2800 Miles
My drive across most of the US in a 35 minutes time lapse movie. 2800+ miles, starting in California going all the way to North Carolina.
I accidentally deleted the first day worth of photos (some 64 GB) so California is unfortunately missing. The move took 5+ days altogether going slowly with the underpowered U-Haul truck and trailer.
I had a Go Pro mounted on the dash taking about 32 GB worth of stills in 6 hours. I also had my iPad mounted so family and friends where never more than a video call away.
Glad I did this and that it took me only 2 years to finally share this footage. Enjoy.
Live the Life You Choose in Lake Lure, NC
Waterfront mountain real estate is something that is rare indeed. We pride ourselves on our deep relationship with the area, as well as our vast knowledge of Lake Lure property, land, and its unique, storied history.
Live the Life You Choose in Rumbling Bald Resort on Lake Lure, NC:
BHTV: Incredible Views of Chimney Rock State Park:
“This was the main trade route between Charlotte and Asheville,” says Jim Proctor, former mayor of Lake Lure, NC. “And not only was this a trade route, it was very early on a tourist location. So, this was a place that travelers came to visit not just because it was a waystation, but because it was a great place to stay. And then around the turn of the last century, Lucius Morse came to visit, and he and his family are the folks that bought Chimney Rock Park at that time, and had the vision for Lake Lure. So in the mid-1920s, they ended up buying over 8,000 acres, and 720 acres ended up being what's now Lake Lure.”
“We bought the house as a vacation home. But then, we enjoyed it so much that we decided to move up here full-time,” says John Moore, Lake Lure resident.
“If you've traveled in European countries, and you've been on rivers and huge lakes in Geneva, Switzerland, you see these mountains rising up out of the water, and I think that that is what we have in Lake Lure,” says Paula Moore. “It's like a little piece of Europe right here in the United States, and we feel like we live on vacation, and that is one of the pluses.”
“Now, Lake Lure has just magnificent mountains, the rock cliffs, every kind of vegetation you can dream of, and of course, that's why a lot of folks come and why a lot of movies have been filmed here,” says Proctor. “Dirty Dancing was filmed right down the road, at what used to be Camp Chimney Rock. That was really fun. And then, of course, several years later, The Last of the Mohicans was filmed at Chimney Rock up the hill.”
“We love living around the lake, have a lot of friends who live here, spend time with them,” says Mr. Moore. “We can get to their houses by boat. We can get to the restaurants, to Larkin's and the restaurants downtown by boat, or the restaurants up at the resort.”
“There was an opportunity here in Lake Lure to live on the lake and run a restaurant that's also on the lake, that has its own boat docks, and we've been here, now, 15 years, and we still often commute to our restaurant by boat. Sometimes I even water ski to work,” says Mark Hammond, owner of Larkin’s Restaurant.
“Even when you consider, when I was growing up, there was probably 200 residents, and now there's 1,200, Lake Lure still doesn't have a signal light,” says Proctor. “We have one grocery store, one pharmacy. All the scenic beauty that was here when I was little is still here. It's remarkable that the mountain ranges are still just as scenic now as when I was growing up. The mountains that are literally surrounding this house, the vast majority of those mountains are now protected forever, and that's just real exciting for me.”

700 Pound Snake Pulled out of Lake in North Carolina
Giant 700 pound snake caught in lake in Proctor, North Carolina. The giant man eating python was measured at 98 feet long. Police were contacted to see if there have been any recently filed missing person reports as a snake this big could have surely eaten a human.
This giant snake is massive and just gorgeous, but it didn't take long to find out that the STORY behind it... was fake, just another hoax.
While the image is indeed real, I think the size of the giant snake could have been exaggerated due to the camera angle
Nevertheless, this snake is still huge, but where did it come from? The markings on it's skin looks similar to that of a reticulated python native to Southeast Asia. After playing around with a little Google translate, the mystery was finally solved.
This giant python came from Indonesia and after some rough translating, it turns out that it was discovered this last Thanksgiving near the village of Belinyu City. It was found by accident by a group of construction workers who severely injured the reptile while knocking down a large dead tree in which the python was sleeping inside of. The workers put the dying snake out of it's misery and buried it.
It's sad to see such an incredible animal killed, especially one that could have been a new world record size. I wish there were more pictures so we could get a better idea of just how large it was.
I really enjoyed learning about this amazing snake, if you guys have any cool wildlife stories or interesting animals that you think I might enjoy, tell me about it on Facebook

Grand Central Station
Grand Central Terminal (GCT)—colloquially called Grand Central Station, or shortened to simply Grand Central—is a commuter rail terminal station at 42nd Street and Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan in New York City, United States. Built by and named for the New York Central Railroad in the heyday of American long-distance passenger trains, it is the largest train station in the world by number of platforms: 44, with 67 tracks along them. They are on two levels, both below ground, with 41 tracks on the upper level and 26 on the lower, though the total number of tracks along platforms and in rail yards exceeds 100. When the Long Island Rail Road's new station opens in 2016 (see East Side Access), Grand Central will offer a total of 75 tracks and 48 platforms. The terminal covers an area of 48 acres (19 ha).
The terminal serves commuters traveling on the Metro-North Railroad to Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess counties in New York State, and Fairfield and New Haven counties in Connecticut. The terminal used to be served by Amtrak, but in 1991 their trains moved to nearby Pennsylvania Station as a result of the completion of the Empire Connection.
Although the terminal has been properly called Grand Central Terminal since 1913, many people continue to refer to it as Grand Central Station. Grand Central Station is the name of the nearby post office, as well as the name of a previous rail station on the site, and it is also used to refer to a New York City subway station at the same location.
According to the travel magazine Travel + Leisure in its October 2011 survey, Grand Central Terminal is the world's number six most visited tourist attraction, bringing in approximately 21,600,000 visitors annually.
