Reykjavik Food Lovers Tour - Traditional Icelandic Food
REYKJAVIK FOOD LOVERS TOUR – TRADITIONAL ICELANDIC FOOD
Treat your taste buds to the tastiest tour in Iceland.
They say that sharing a meal is the best way to get to know each other, we think our Reykjavik Food Lovers Tour with at least 6 foodie stops is even better!
Our stops include the oldest restaurant in Reykjavik, a legendary hot dog stand, our favorite food market and one of the top restaurants in Iceland.
If you’re a food lover, then a casual stroll around Reykjavik, sampling traditional dishes from some of our favorite spots, is going to be your little slice of heaven.
Our Reykjavik Food Lovers Tour samples at least 15 different Icelandic dishes; both traditional classics and modern favorites. We know all the best spots to get the famous Icelandic lamb soup (just like mamma makes it), Skyr (a type of yogurt) and delicious lobster soup. You can even try some fermented shark if you dare.
Keep warm with a belly full of good food!
Icelandic food isn’t well known by the rest of the world, but we’re hoping to change that. We have long, dark winters where we spend a lot of time indoors, and we have an abundance of fresh meat, fish and dairy, so we’ve kinda perfected this whole ‘cooking’ business.
You’ll learn what the Vikings ate and how Icelandic people have survived harsh winters thanks to our special cooking and preserving methods.
The tour runs every Saturday and Sunday from 1 pm – 4:00 pm and on some weekdays at 5 pm and we’ll walk around 2.5km, making plenty of stops along the way. With no more than 12 people on a tour, you’ll be able to ask any questions about Icelandic food and culture, plus make a few new friends. And, you certainly won’t leave feeling hungry!
Bon appetite! Or, as we say in Iceland ”Verði þér að góðu.”
The Reykjavik Food tour is available for private groups upon request. Get in touch to discuss: yfir@yourfriendinreykjavik.com
LIFE AS A TOURIST IN ICELAND! (again) | Reykjavik Vlog #1
After 1 year, I am back again in Iceland! Last year, I did a road trip with my friends, David and April and even though we went to Reykjavik last year, I did not have enough footage to make a follow up vlog and so it was left on a cliffhanger.
This year, my friends and I are staying in Iceland's main capital for some partying and to check out Iceland Airwaves, a music festival that the country is famous for!
We will be exploring the country and seeing what the city has to offer, along with everyday first world problems like losing wi-fi and getting lost lol.
If you are reading this, let me know where in the world you would like to travel to and if you have ever been to a country more than once!
This vlog captures days 1 and 2 of my trip, so stay tuned for the remaining parts to come!

My favorite THINGS TO DO in Iceland::
► Reykjavik & Golden Circle
Iceland's capital city and home to 122,000 people. Reykjavik is the largest city in Iceland and most traveler's jumping off point for the Ring Road and Golden Circle.
The Golden Circle is a popular tourist driving route in southern Iceland, which covers about 300 kilometers looping from Reykjavík into the southern uplands of Iceland and back. There are many Golden Circle tours, but I would recommend doing this with a rental car. Featured attractions include Geysir, Blue Lagoon and Gullfoss waterfall.
One of my favorite things to do in Iceland in this region is the Reykjadalur Hot Springs - A beautiful and unique geothermal river near the town of Hveragerði. It takes about one hour to hike up to the hot springs, so be prepared.
► Central Highlands
► Northern Iceland
Eyjafjörður Fjord - One of the best places in Iceland to see the Northern Lights. Northern Iceland has very little light pollution, so tracking the Northern Lights over the Fjords is a great idea.
Ásbyrgi Canyon - This massive canyon was formed way back after the ice age as melting glacier floods ripped giant divots into the earth and left this beautiful valley and rock walls in its path.
Northern Lights - In order to have the best chance of seeing the Northern Lights in Iceland, check out this website we used to track the cloud coverage and aurora activity.
Dettifoss Waterfall - Said to be Europe’s most powerful waterfall, and we’re getting a unique perspective - by moonlight.
► Western Iceland & Snæfellsnes Peninsula
Godafoss Waterfall - An expansive horseshoe-shaped cascade that’s probably my favorite waterfall of the entire trip.
► Eastern Iceland
Hverir or Namafjall geothermal field - Located in northeastern Iceland around the geothermal region of Lake Mývatn - a vast area of hot springs, sulfur crystals, and boiling mud pots.
► Southern Iceland
Seljalandsfoss - A popular waterfall in South Iceland, and the only waterfall (that I know of) in Iceland that you can walk behind.
Skogafoss - Massive curtain waterfall with a drop of 60 meters and a width of 25 meters, also in Southern Iceland.
Reynisfjara - Incredible black sand beach near Vik with basalt sea stacks to one side and rock formations jetting out of the ocean. Get here early to really appreciate it.

Trip on Iceland: N1-Tour around the Island, best Video of Iceland!
Game of Thrones: From July 9th until July 20th, we went for a trip to your beautiful country taking the ferry from denmark. Luckily we were equiped with a Land Cruiser (which has been iceland-optimized in Reykjavik back in the 90th), my good friend Pete Ruppert - he is a famous fashion photographer here in germany and gained off-road experience with his Cruiser in Australia, the Sahara, Israel and Jordania etc. - had the idea to revisit iceland (for him the 8th time - my first visit) taking his son Paul (13) and my daughter Eva (12). We toured the central highlands, went to Askja and the northern parts of Vatnajökull, experienced some transmission probs which made us follow the main circular road (to stay near possible tech support), to Reykjavik, the blue lagoon, Thingvellir, Vik, Höfn and back to the ferry. Kids and us where overwhelmed by the impressions of a landscape which literally changes behind every corner. The weather wasn't always nice but even rainy days produce a special charakter. All in all a perfect trip - the Kids signed up for 'not taking' electronical devices - and they did not regret.!

My Iceland Trip - The Blue Lagoon, Reykjavik, Waterfalls and Geysers
Tara flies to Iceland and drives around to visit some popular sights: The city of Reykjavik, the Blue Lagoon, Skogafoss, Seljalandsfoss, and Gullfoss Waterfalls and Geysir. She also visits the small island of Videy, the Raudholar craters, Hallgrimskirkja church and Nautholsvik Beach. She stayed at the Iceland Comfort Apartment Hotel. Car rental from Budget Rental cars (the car was manual as automatics are much more expensive there!)

I love travel. I hate tours. Let me explain.
99% of the time you become just a number where the company is trying to get you in and out as soon as humanly possible. You pray that your guide is fun and that you like them, you pray the people joining you are fun and you'll get on with them, most of the time the destinations offered are just the standard most touristy spots in the country where you have about 5 minutes to look at the sights and then go whether or not you got your perfect shot or you've had enough of the destination. Not exactly my kind of an experience.
A solo traveller since the age of 17, I always wished an experience was created where I could see the best sights of the country as recommended by locals, meet people and make life long friends, laugh too much, take breathtaking photographs in each stop, be certain that the experience doesn't hold back any of the countries best secret spots and where I don't have to sell my kidneys to pay for the adventure.
I waited for an experience like this be created. Crickets...
That's why I often chose to travel solo because there's no way you'd find me a part of a boring tour with zero emphasis or time allocated to get those Instagram worthy shots (let's face it...pictures from the trip or it didn't happen).
And so finally earlier this year I overcome my fear of creating my dream tours and I called up my good friend David who is a young, fun, wise native Icelandic tour guide OBSESSED with his own country and I told him...
We create a tour together BUT under one condition...we make it THE MOST ADVENTUROUS, FUN, HEARTWARMING AND LIFE CHANGING TOUR OF PEOPLES LIVES. Oh and we have to get great photographs of the adventure.
Once we started planning the trip, we got goosebumps all over. This is what we've both wanted to create for so long.
And so in early March 2018, I collected 12 of my followers to join me on an adventure of a lifetime, where I presented them with everything I had ever hoped for in an overseas guided experience.
The feedback was unbelievable. People loved it because they also saw the gap in the travel experiences. Insanely strong friendships were formed, amazing photographs were taken and we had SO much fun.
I figured I must be onto something when I kept getting my followers asking for more dates of these adventures. And honestly, I'm really glad because it turns out these experiences are the funnest thing I've EVER done in my life. It's my new addiction.
And so now...I present you:
MY SUMMER SOLSTICE PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE!
The last tour sold out with just 2 instastories. Now adding the extra workshop day, this one will sell out too so apply quickly.
NEW DATE JUST RELEASED. 12 SPOTS ONLY. APPLY HERE:

Hello everyone! & Welcome to my channel! ♡♡♡
Joseph and I went to Iceland in May 2018! I was so iffy about creating a series of videos because the audio is terrible!! SORRY!!!! ???? I blame it on the waterproof case! I didn’t know it would muffle the sound so badly...
Also, I’m terribly sorry if I mispronounce any of the names! Such a unique language!
...
Joseph and I rented a Cozy Camper and road tripped around Iceland’s Ring Road. At the end of our trip, we spent two nights in Reykjavik! What an awesome city! We checked out different landmarks like Hallgrímskirkja.
At the end of the video, you’ll see our apartment that we stayed in. It had a private bathroom, and a kitchen which was great because we could cook our own food to save money! It was called “Luna Apartments” and we booked through Booking.com! Please use my referral link to save money when you book!

Reykjavik Pub Crawl - Icelandic Beer Tour
Our Reykjavik Beer Tour will take you to Reykjavik’s best bars to sample 10 of Iceland’s delicious craft beers, most of which you can only find in Iceland! We’ll fill you in on the history of beer, from the Vikings, right through to the resurgence of microbreweries today.
Skál! (that’s ‘cheers’ in Icelandic).
You can book through our website =
We base our selection of beers on what‘s on tap when you join our tour.
We are of course happy to cater to your preferences for beer but at the same time encourage you to be adventurous.
Our Reykjavik beer tasting tour is guaranteed to leave you with a warm buzz and with the prices for alcohol like they are in Iceland you can be sure you get value for money by joining our tour.
We will also give you tips on how to save a little bit on drinks while you are here.
If you do not enjoy beer but still want to join The Reykjavik Pub Crawl, we can adjust the tour for you, offering you 5 different Icelandic spirits or snaps.
We think that one of the best ways to get a feel for a new city is to sit down and have a few beers with the locals.
You don’t have to be a special beer lover to have fun on our tour, and maybe you will even be introduced to a beer style you will love.
The Reykjavik Pub Crawl – Icelandic Beer Tour is your chance to get to know the best Icelandic craft beers for you to enjoy on your trip. Icelandic people have a short, but proud history of making beer (we need to put our lovely, pure glacial water to good use). We will tell you about our history of beer, from the Vikings, right through to the resurgence of microbreweries today. Beer was actually banned in Iceland for 74 years. Thankfully, this is not the case anymore! You’ll learn all about this bizarre story, and our unique drinking culture on the tour.
Our group sizes are small, or 12 people max so we are able to chat about anything and everything Icelandic, not just about alcoholic drinks
The tour is the perfect way to kick off your night in Reykjavik or make the most of your stopover. You can even pick our brains for the best places to eat after the tour, or where to party if your night is heading that way.
ICELAND Travel Vlog | Horseback Riding and Exploring Reykjavik | Winter 2017
1. Horseback riding on a lava field at Rauðavatn was so surreal - to be sightseeing on an Icelandic horse! It was super awesome when the horses did the tölt, one of their natural gaits.
We did the tour with Viking Horses, which is unique, being a family run company. The instructor was very attentive, and they even took us upstairs for some Icelandic snacks after the ride!
Some other places we visited were:
1. Harpa (
2. Icelandic Handknitting Association ( for that perfect wool sweater
3. Glo ( a very delicious vegan restaurant
4. Icelandic Phallological Museum ( for plenty of laughs with your friends!

Spent the first few days just wandering around the city, seeing some of the inner city highlights and visiting pubs etc (Kilda Bar is a dreamy little bar that you have to visit)
Then we booked ourselves in for a evening visit to the Blue Lagoon and then finished our trip with a tour around the Golden Circle.
Good times with good guys.
