Short visit of Kingston (Canada - Ontario)
(EN) Kingston, Ontario is a Canadian city located in Eastern Ontario where the Saint Lawrence River flows out of Lake Ontario. Originally a First Nations settlement, growing European exploration in the 17th century made it an important trading post. In order to control the fur trade, French explorer LaSalle founded Fort Frontenac in 1673.
Located midway between Toronto and Montreal, Kingston was named the first capital of the Province of Canada on February 15, 1841, by Governor Lord Sydenham. While its time as a political centre was short, Kingston has remained an important military installation.
Kingston was the county seat of Frontenac County until 1998. Kingston is a separated municipality from the County of Frontenac. According to the 2011 Canadian census, the population of the city proper was 123,363, while the population of the census metropolitan area (CMA) was 159,561.
Kingston is nicknamed the Limestone City because of the many heritage buildings constructed using local limestone.

Garrison Ball 2012 at Fort Frontenac
A prestigious fundraiser took place at Fort Frontenac in Kingston Ontario on June 9th, 2012. Over $21,000 was raised for the Kingston Military Family Resource Centre (KMFRC) from guests who not only enjoyed a wonderful meal, but also bid on items both in public and silent auctions.
Minister of National Defence, Peter MacKay, attended with his wife Nazanin Afshin-Jam, and shared some thoughts. The audience was also blessed with plenty of live entertainment: a string quartet, military band, bagpipers and a Highland dancer. The evening finished up with the Rain Kings as they rocked the tent to a packed dance floor.
the MOMENT is CAPTURED by photography team Robby Breadner & Carter Brundage. Images from the slideshow and more can be viewed and purchased on with a portion of the proceeds going to the KMFRC. Visit for a fun gallery.

Surprise! It’s not what you may think.
Yes, someone named Trousdale has been here since 1836 and the floorboards creak but the merchandise is so new it’ll knock your socks off.
We’ve been around long enough to know that neither man nor woman lives by bread alone, so we are indefatigable in our search for inspiring items. Campbell’s soup has moved on and canapes have moved in.
