Ukraine: Veterans and Chernobyl Accident Liquidators rally over welfare in Kiev
Clashes erupted between protesters and riot police officers in front of the Verkhovna Rada in Kiev, Tuesday, as the demonstrators attempted to enter the building.
Among the protesters were veterans of the Afghan war, miners, and 'Chernobyl Accident liquidators,' who demanded back their welfare benefits.
In order to prevent the protesters from getting into the building, police officers deployed tear gas. Several people sustained injuries in the clashes.
The last rally for benefits for veterans and Chernobyl 'liquidators' took place in April.

Tour in Pripyat - Go2Chernobyl.com
Thirty years after the most severe nuclear accident in history, Chernobyl Pripyat has become a landmark. It is believed that tens of thousands of people died prematurely from the catastrophe that spread the radioactive cloud over Europe in 1986, but last year 17,000 people still visited the so-called Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.

How to travel Ukraine: Chornobyl. Discover Destination UA: Episode 17
Our Ukraine travel guide is going to turn a new page. Probably, there is not a single person who knows nothing about this place after the HBO’s Chernobyl series.
More than 30 years ago, life was in full swing here, children studied at school, adults went to work, people made plans and created families. Until the nuclear reactor exploded. Since then, this place has been empty and has the status of a tourist place.

A Day in Chernobyl
The mystery, the unknown, unanswered questions and the title of the worst nuclear disaster the world has ever seen, are only a few reasons that inspired me to go on a Tour in Chernobyl Exclusion zone. To add even more dramatic touch to the scenery I visited and filmed the site in winter.
The Chernobyl disaster, occurred in early morning of 26th April, 1986 in the Nuclear reactor Number 4, at Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant near the now-abandoned town of Pripyat, in northern Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, Soviet Union, approximately 104 km, north of Kiev.
Accident happened during an electrical-engineering experiment which was conducted by a group of engineers. In the experiment, reactions became unstable and drove to explosion and ensuing fire, where more than 50 tons of radioactive material was released into the atmosphere, and has been carried by air currents all over the Europe and eventually world.
Followed by deaths, evacuation of the area, including 30.000 inhabitants of Pripyat, and other extreme measures after the accident, brought this site to how it looks today, post-apocalyptic.
While the area remains heavily contaminated, there are safe routes, opened to visitors from 2010 and are guided by professionals.
If you are interested in seeing Chernobyl for yourself and want a safe, informative, full-scale tour, with friendly approach and option to even tailor your one or more day visit, I highly recommend:

There is so much more to explore there, than seen in the video and thanks to Victor and Andrei for the experience and making this possible!
