National Gallery in Prague - Národní galerie v Praze - Nationalgalerie Prag
National Gallery in Prague - Národní galerie v Praze
In its time the largest building of its kind worldwide and in Prague the first functionalist building from the year 1928 serves today the purposes of the National Gallery. The unique collection of Czech and international, modern and contemporary art includes, for example, an exceptionally valuable collection of French and European art, including unique works by the most distinguished names such as Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Auguste Renoir, Vincent van Gogh and Gustav Klimt Many more.
Národní gallery is for me the most timeless and beautiful building for contemporary art! The light, space, form and design of the building convince by the clarity and beauty of a functional building which must have been groundbreaking at its time of origin. At some corners, like a shop-like light, then as bright as the Baden-Baden Burda Museum, a gigantic light-air courtyard as in the London Science Museum. But everywhere sober stylish as Bauhaus factories. A copy and branch of Dessau. For me the most timeless building for contemporary art.
And then a suitable cafe for the exhibition, with a bright large cafe hall and a monumental character. If you like the exhibition, you also like the café. Also if you have time and after a long exhibition a break needs for the fits here everything.

Art museum in a palace, home to ancient Greek & Roman works, Renaissance and 19th-century paintings.
The Sternberg Palace on Hradčanské Square is one of the most significant works of the High Baroque in Bohemia. Today the building is under the administration of the National Gallery Prague, which has placed its collections here. The permanent exhibition was installed after the original ceilings were exposed and renewed. The best works from the national collection, dating from ancient Rome to the end of the Baroque, are displayed on several floors of the palace.

Views Around the City of Prague, Czech Republic - July, 2015
Prague (Czech: Praha) is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic. It is the 15th largest city in the European Union. It is also the historical capital of Bohemia. Situated in the north-west of the country on the Vltava River, the city is home to about 1.24 million people, while its larger urban zone is estimated to have a population of nearly 2 million. The origin of the name Praha is rather associated with the word prah (that means a 'threshold'), which is a rapid on the river. Prague is home to a number of famous cultural attractions, many of which survived the violence and destruction of 20th-century Europe. Main attractions include the Prague Castle, the Charles Bridge, Old Town Square with the Prague astronomical clock, the Jewish Quarter, Petřín hill and Vyšehrad. Since 1992, the extensive historic centre of Prague has been included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. To read more about Prague, click here: .

Prag, Jewish Synagogues - Czech Republic 4K Travel Channel
From Náměstí Republiky, the Republic Square, we walk south past the St. Henry's Tower to the Jerusalem Synagogue, also known as Jubilee Synagogue. The Jerusalem Synagogue, a building in Art Nouveau style, lies in the New Town of Prague. Originally, Josefov, a quarter north of the old town, was the Jewish Town. In 1948, one granted civil rights to Jews in Prague. There upon many people moved to other areas and the buildings decayed. Between 1893 and 1913, one tor off most of the neighborhood and rebuilt new houses, based on the model of Paris.
Since some synagogues were also torn down, one planned a new one. A specially founded association acquired a piece of land in Jerusalem Street. The Jewish architect Wilhelm Stiassny from Vienna planned and Alois Richter executed the construction. Moorish and oriental style elements labeled into the design.
The long interior forms of a three-aisled basilica. The side aisles are separated by arcades. On the upper floor is a gallery with a photo exhibition.
Among other things, you see the keystone certificate of Emperor Franz Josef I here. The Torah shrine is closed with a gilded door. Splendid stained glass windows complete the magnificent colorful building.
The entrance fee is CZK 80 (€ 3,12 per person).
On the way back we come again to the St. Henry's Tower, built from 1472 - 1475. With a height of 65.7 meters, it is the highest freestanding bell tower in Prague. Originally it was a church tower, but due to the separation of the church, one gave up the church use. A carillon in the roof of the tower can only be heard inside the tower. Today there are cafes, restaurants, a gallery, and a viewing platform in the tower.
We also pass the Republic Square with the Municipal Hall and the Powder Tower again, before we go to the monument to Franz Kafka. It shows Franz Kafka on the shoulders of a headless man. The artwork was created by Jaroslav Róna.
Behind is the Jewish Museum and the Spanish Synagogue.

please read more:
