...ABOUT US...
Hi, we are Erin and Francis, aka the Honeymooners! We are a couple travelling the world for a year on our honeymoon.
In 2016 we travelled throughout South East Asia, and trekked all over the Himalayas of Nepal. We documented the entire trip on our GoPro for our family and friends, but decided to post it all onto YouTube just for a bit of fun as well.
We are newlyweds, happily married since June 2019, and are now living out our dream goal we have had since our last overseas trip, of travelling the world for an entire year on our honeymoon. We have worked so hard towards this goal and want to document the entire journey with you all, so you can join us as we leave our footprints all over this beautiful world.
The world we live in is so diverse and rich with culture, yet the more we travel and the more people we meet along the way, we realise that people share so many similarities no matter what their background is. We love showing these similarities while expressing their cultural differences and hope to capture those moments and show the world.

► More street food in Uttarakhand:
This time, in search of the popular street food, we are in Rishikesh which is deemed as India’s one of the top spiritual destinations. Located on the banks of the river Ganges at the foothills of the Himalayas the city is a hub of spirituality, yoga, meditation and ayurveda. It is a serene place surrounded by forested hills and cut through by the mighty Ganges. This spiritual centre with numerous ashrams and temples attained global prominence after the the most iconic and influential British Rock Band Beatles visited the place for learning transcendental yoga. Since then hordes of international visitors from different countries have been visiting this holy city in the quest for spiritual enlightenment. As a result of this influx, the local food scenario underwent a shift with the surge of cafes and restaurants. International dishes rooted themselves in the lanes and bylanes of Rishikesh. Currently the street food scene here is a mix of traditional and international.
We have embarked on a gastronomic tour of this city with our gracious host Varun Bhandari, a passionate young entrepreneur who runs a quaint cafe called Cafe Steps right near the Laxman Jhula. It was fun exploring the popular food in the cheerful lanes of this pilgrim site.
We commenced the food tour with an energising cup of nicely brewed black coffee from Varun’s cafe, Cafe Steps. He showed us how to make pour over coffee, which is one of the manual ways of brewing coffee. The extract was sweet and delicate.
From there we went to German Bakery, a popular bakery near Laxman Jhula. There we tried some really good peanut cookies and almond triangle.
As we walked down the streets we came across a fruit cart run by a vivacious lady. Here we tried the Japanese fruit which is basically Persimmon. This sweet and sour tomato shaped fruit was a local produce.
Next was the turn of a delicious Punjabi thali the iconic restaurant Chotiwala. There are two restaurants by the same name. The most fascinating thing about this place is the human mascot with elaborate and loud makeup who sits at the entrance to attract customers.
We then came across a Nankhatai vendor who was making fresh Nankhataia and few other cookies. They were fresh and toothsome. It was a delight to see the neat cart with an indeginous oven churning out these treats.
Next stop was a juice shop. After a refreshing and healthy glass of detox juice we walked down the lane near laxman jhula in search of a local fruit ramphal.
Available only in rishikesh it's a sweet and sour fruit is loved by the locals. Next destination was beatles ashram. It is the erstwhile spiritual retreat of Maharishi mahesh yogi where the Beatles had stayed during their visit to the city. Now in ruins the place is calm and replete with the memories of the glorious times when these legends were around for learning transcendental yoga. It's a must visit for any Beatles fan.
Hungry after all the walking in this massive property it was time for some energy. So we went to geeta bhavan for some traditional sweets. So there was gone ke laddu, burfi etc
Next stop was madras cafe whose healthy and nutritious fusion menu was quite gratifying. We loved their Himalayan Pulao and spinach dosa.
Our final destination for the day was Shiva momos had Falafal shop. This place is a hit with visitors both domestic and international alike. Our pick was nutella banana momos, veg momos and chow mein. The taste was quite impressive.
After wrapping up the food trail we visited the Parmarth Niketan ashram That for witnessing the Ganga aarti. The divine experience in that surreal setting amidst such is hard to describe in words.

The first thrilling investigative series on Indian Television, is today one of the most popular shows on Sony Entertainment Television. Dramatic and absolutely unpredictable, C.I.D. has captivated viewers over the last eleven years and continues to keep audiences glued to their television sets with its thrilling plots and excitement. Also interwoven in its fast paced plots are the personal challenges that the C.I.D. team faces with non-stop adventure, tremendous pressure and risk, all in the name of duty. The series consists of hard-core police procedural stories dealing with investigation, detection and suspense. The protagonists of the serial are an elite group of police officers belonging to the Crime Investigation Department of the police force, led by ACP Pradyuman [played by the dynamic Shivaji Satam]. While the stories are plausible, there is an emphasis on dramatic plotting and technical complexities faced by the police. At every stage, the plot throws up intriguing twists and turns keeping the officers on the move as they track criminals, led by the smallest of clues.

► More street food in Uttarakhand:
Welcome to Haridwar, a popular pilgrimage destination in Uttarakhand where devotees throng to seek divine blessings by taking a dip in the holy Ganges. This sacred city has some great street food that keeps the masses active and going. We were there to explore the street food scene in these busy lanes. Our host for the day was Mr. Jain who is the owner of the famous Jain Chat Bhandar. We are highly grateful for his support. An avid foodie and a genial gentleman, Mr. Jain took us on an immersive walk down the streets guiding us about the popular eats.
We started with the famous Surya Ki Dal. It's morning time and a crowd had gathered to buy a plate of this nutritious snacks. This boiled moong dal dish mixed with some simple elements was truly delicious. Eating it out of leaf plate added to the taste.
Next was the turn of a very old sweet shop that specializes in traditional sweets like milk cake, lauki ka lauj, khoya burfi, rabri etc. We were impressed by the quality and taste of these popular fares.
From there we went to Bhagwati Chole bhandar for tasting the Adda and chole ka paani. Adda is bun soaked in Chole ki sabzi. They serve it with chutney, ginger julienne, fresh coriander. The snack was followed by the channe ka pani which is a spicy yet hearty broth made from the leftover water from the boiled chickpeas.
We crossed over to the opposite side for Paan in order to cleanse our palette and prime them for more food.
Then we went to Thakur Raghubir sigh ji kachoriwala for khasta kachori and sabji. Served in leaf bowl, it was a treat. But their kheer mohan was too sweet for us.
We then took a Nimbu shikanji break at Shiv Soda before arriving at Mathura wale ki prachin dukan for their delicious puri sabzi platter. The desi ghee fare consisting urad dal puri, pumpkin and potato sabzi was quite gratifying. We followed it with tiny potli samosas and chandrakala.
Our next shop was the famous eatery of our host. Jain sir is loved not only for his playful treats but also for his genial personality. We were touched by the endearing manner in which he introduced us to his bestselling. people are crazy about their kanji vada, magic chaat and dahi patashe and so are we. The best part of the eating experience here was the Malu leaf bowls in which these were served.
Our next target was Mathura wale ki Malai Samosa, rabri and chocolate burfi. The khoya stuffed Malai samosa and the rabri were simply toothsome. And the chocolate burfi had the taste of real chocolate.
While walking towards our next stop is the Har Ki pauri ghat for Ganga Arti we stopped by a cart selling star fruits and couldn’t resist ourselves from taking a bite of this nutritious fruit. The sour ones are rich in vitamins.
Soon it was time to witness the marvellous aarti or prayer ritual where the holy Ganges river is worshipped with mantras and huge lamps. The vibe of the collective faith of the devotees thronging the ghat was a surreal experience.
After this divine encounter we went to Guru Vaisnav bhojnalaya for a proper traditional meal consisting of roti, rice, dal, seasonal vegetable preparation, papad and raita. We enjoyed every morsel of this homestyled desi ghee meal that was prepared over wood fire stove.
After filling our stomachs with all the goodness of the wholesome meal, it was time to grab a glass of hot milk and call it a day. Haridwar surprised us with its delightful treats and its friendly locals. Do make time for visit to this city and soak in its spiritual and culinary atmosphere. Till the next time keep walking keep exploring.

Fatehpur Sikri bears exceptional testimony to the Mughal civilization at the end of the 16th century. It offers a unique example of architectural ensembles of very high quality constructed between 1571 and 1585. Its form and layout strongly influenced the evolution of Indian town planning, notably at Shahjahanabad (Old Delhi).
