1907 Campbell Oil Engine

This is our 1907 Campbell Crude Oil engine. It is the oldest engine in the Society's collection. Serial # 9083, Bore 5 1/2 in., Stroke 11 in. Ignition is by hot tube/bulb (blowlamp start) and it is capable of running on almost any liquid fuel oil. You may notice a loud knocking at times which we believe is a pre-ignition knock as it speeds up, but we intend to investigate further to make sure there are no mechanical problems with the engine.

Ruston Hornsby Suction Gas Engine

This is the engine which takes pride of place in our extensive engine shed. It is a 19 HP Ruston Hornsby Suction Gas Engine ca 1919 (could have actually been made earlier and kept in stock) Serial # 51484. It was delivered to Peter Logan in 1923 for installation on his farm at Upper Tenthill here in the Lockyer Valley. It was used to pump water for irrigation via a 4in two stage pump. It was in use until approx 1940. The engine has been fully restored, along with it's accompanying Gas Production plant. It is currently being run on LP gas as it is difficult to procure charcoal or coke for the gas plant and also the time taken to get the gas plant up to speed is prohibitive. We apologise for the quality of the video but hope you appreciate such a fine example of early power production.

Dr. Christopher Reynolds has been endorsed as the One Nation candidate for the seat of Ipswich West.
Dr. Reynolds, Australian born and 5th generation Australian, has previously held a position as a Senior Professional Staff member for the US Senate Committee on the Judiciary, working under Senators Teddy Kennedy and Mitch McConnell. He is the author of the book “Global Logic” and the soon to be released “In the Shadow of the Crown” – an examination of Australian political history and a proposed rewrite of the Australian Constitution. Chris is the owner and manager of the company Ranald Learning Pty Ltd, and works with teachers and parents to improve children’s intelligence capabilities and academic achievement.
Dr. Reynolds completed his Ph.D. and Masters degrees at Claremont Graduate University. He began his career as a teacher, he has also been Associate Professor in International Business, lecturing in Australia at Bond University and QUT. He has also lectured in Southeast Asia and Brunei. Dr. Reynolds was a member of the Brunei Economic Development Council Subcomittee on Oil and Gas Diversification, and the Chair of APEC 2000 Study Centre Consortium Meeting.
“Australia is currently facing some fundamental issues about security and economic development that have many of us concerned.
