The RVs of Scotland - United Kingdom Motorhomes & Caravans
We've just returned from an awesome two-week trip to Scotland, where we saw more motorhomes, caravans, sites and pitches than we ever expected... especially since we just learned what some of those terms mean!
Come along for the ride while we share everything we learned about RVing in the United Kingdom.
Starting in Glasgow, we headed northwest to the Scottish Highlands, visiting the Isles of Mull, Iona and Skye, then north to Ullapool, across to the Orkney Islands, down to Inverness and St. Andrews, and on to Edinburgh.
It was our first time in the U.K. and the countryside is absolutely beautiful. Scotland also has over a thousand castles, and we saw (and toured through) a lot of them, including spectacular Dunrobin Castle, high on a hill overlooking the North Sea.
Even though this trip was on a guided motorcoach tour, the next time we visit, we'll hopefully be renting a motorhome ourselves.
Video shot entirely on our iPhone 5S. :)
The intro music is my own piano performance of Scott Joplin's Maple Leaf Rag from 1899.
Background music by Canadian fiddler and pianist extraordinaire, Troy MacGillivray, from his album Eleven.

WONDERING WHAT'S THE BEST GEAR TO USE ON YOUR RV?
Here's all of our favorite equipment that we use ourselves and recommend to friends:
Join us at for more great RVing content!
Full-Time RVers since April, 2003, we share DIY (do it yourself) RV maintenance, repair, travel, upgrade and operational tips & tricks.
Many RVers are eager to learn more about using, maintaining and caring for their rigs. We hope our experience can help others go DIY, saving time & money, plus the satisfaction of a job well done.
We're handy RVers, not professional technicians. We're happy with the techniques and products we use, but be sure to confirm that all methods and materials you use are compatible with your equipment and abilities. Regardless of what we recommend, consult a professional if you're unsure about working on your RV. Exploring Edinburgh Whisky Pubs
In this weeks Edinburgh Vlog we are joined by fellow Edinburgh youtuber Shaun from Shaun Vlogs, where we start to explore some of Edinburgh's pubs that specialise in Whisky (Or scotch if you are from America). Things to Do in Scotland
- When I was getting ready to record this video, I went online to find some wallpaper for my Mac that showcased the beauty of Scotland. It's absolutely gorgeous, isn't it? This is the next in our series of things to do and places to visit. Douglas sent his list from Edinburgh, Scotland. Have you sent your list yet? What's fun and/or unique to do and see where you are from? -

Thinking differently from the investor crowd, with Alasdair McKinnon
When it comes to investing, it pays to think differently from the rest of the crowd. Contrarian thinking is something we've explored on Informed Choice Radio before, and we're back at it today in conversation with Alasdair McKinnon, manager of the Scottish Investment Trust.
Alasdair is a self-confessed stock market geek, developing a passion for investing in his teens and working in the sector since his first role in 1998.
He graduated with an MA in Economic and Social History from the University of Edinburgh, and MSc in Investment Analysis (with distinction) from the University of Stirling. He's also a CFA® charterholder and an Associate of the UK Society of Investment Professionals.
Alasdair joined the Scottish Investment Trust in 2003 and became Manager in 2015.
The investment trust, which is managed from Edinburgh, runs a relatively small portfolio of around 50 stocks. It's got large stakes in some familiar British names, like GlaxoSmithKline, Tesco and Royal Dutch Shell, but its modus operandi is investing in unloved companies, and then waiting for these stocks to return to favour.
I enjoyed this interview with Alasdair and want you to listen out for three big things. Firstly, he talks about how investment cycles repeat themselves; there's nothing truly new when it comes to investing money.
Secondly, Alasdair explains why investing with index tracker funds means buying overvalued companies. He further illustrates the risks associated with this passive investing approach when he talks about the changing fortunes of Japan over the years.
Finally, Alasdair shares the three factors he looks for when buying an out of favour stock.
Here's my conversation with Alasdair McKinnon, manager of the Scottish Investment Trust, in episode 423 of Informed Choice Radio.

Edinburgh 2019
Some highlights of our pre-Christmas break to Edinburgh in December 2019
We did some touristy things such as visiting the Christmas Market, Edinburgh Castle, Greyfriars Kirkyard, the Palace of Holyroodhouse and the Scottish Parliament, along with having far too much good food and drink!
Our hotel of choice this time was the Mode Aparthotel on Queen Street where we were in a 1 bedroom apartment.

Mushroom Picking Guide ???? (Liberty Caps)
This video has been a long time coming, the official unofficial Mushroom Picking Guide. These are liberty cap mushrooms, found in wetland, grassy areas, from wikipedia It is both one of the most widely distributed psilocybin mushrooms in nature, and one of the most potent. Couldn't agree more. These are very small mushrooms so it takes quite a lot to hallucinate.
DO NOT PICK OR CONSUME THESE MUSHROOMS!
All the mushrooms i picked i left in the field to go back into the ground.
Please do more research into how mushrooms are being used to treat depression.
If you're against mushrooms then tell me why in the comments :)
Big thanks to @Cameronofearth for the thumbnail & general help with technical issues!

The Elephant House - Edinburgh, Scotland
I went to The Elephant House, the cafe where J.K. Rowling wrote a majority of the Harry Potter series. It was, to say the least, magical.

Around the World in One Country - Edinburgh and North of Scotland
Edinburgh, or the ‘Athens of the North’ as it is sometimes referred to, is packed full of stunning and ancient architecture, from the narrow wynds and sweeping cobbled streets of the Old Town to the beautiful Georgian architecture of the New Town. Just like Rome, Edinburgh was built on seven hills and there are many places across the city that could easily be mistaken for classic, ancient Greek-style architecture. Take a walk through the city and see how many you can spot.
The Old and New Towns of Edinburgh feature everything from medieval lanes and cobbled closes, to symmetrical grids of streets, extravagant townhouses and romantic private gardens that you can uncover at your leisure.
Head northwards and marvel at the Forth Road Bridge, which boasts similaritie
s in structure to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge. Further north, Perthshire is known as ‘Big Tree Country’ and boasts outstanding expanses of land, filled to the brim with towering trees. You may even mistake yourself for being in British Columbia in Canada.
The Cairngorms National Park is a treasure trove of stunning landscapes, towering mountains and hundreds of serene lochs that are spread across more than 4,500 km². Parts of this stunning landscape may remind you of the Alps or the Pyrenees, but our ancient Caledonian Pine forests give the Highlands a traditional edge you can’t find anywhere else.
