Giant Rain Tree, Kanchanaburi, Thailand
Giant Rain Tree, Kanchanaburi, Thailand
It's one of Thailand's biggest rain trees, and this one is about hundreds years old. The tree is massive. Its branches stretch out so far that the whole tree took over the space of 1 Rai or about 0.3 acre. Colorful cloths were wrapped around its trunk, as the Thais believe that spirits usually live in old and big trees.

Giant Rain Tree. Kanchanaburi. Thailand
Giant rain tree that we are showing here is the most biggest rain tree that we ever found in Thailand at this time, we haven't find any bigger than this one. The tree is inside the Royal Thai Army’s Division of Veterinary and Agriculture you might not believe that the rain tree is 20-meters-tall, estimated that the age is older than 100 years old, features a shady canopy 51.75 meters in diameter, which means it covers over 2,416 square meters.
The tree is near the Royal Thai Army’s Division of Veterinary and Agriculture in Ban Kasikam, Muang district, Kanchanaburi (about 20 minutes from Wat Tham Sua, or 40 minutes from river kwai bridge the most famous attractions of Kanchanaburi)

I've lived here since 2011, in a small village. What I am presenting for your viewing is Life, away from the cities, the tourist traps, the bars and easy girls (or ladyboys even), the influences from western culture, like skyscrapers, Macdonalds, and KFC. I bring you the sights and sounds that farangs (which is what Thais call any foreigner) never experience.
After all the time I have lived here, I call them farangs, too. Because my wife and I have become a part of this village, where everybody knows us, and we know everybody.
This is the Real Thailand.

‘A giant specimen near Kanchanaburi, Thailand, known locally as chamchuri-yak (จามจุรียักษ์). “Chamchuri” is the Thai name of the tree species, whereas “yak” is the Thai pronunciation of yaksha, a mythical demon, referring in this context to the monstrous size of the tree’.
